Front camera 5MP in 2017?

just downgrade chipset is not a big deal.. this is not a phone to render 4k video or to process autocad program.. its just a smartphone.. upgrade good camera,bigger battery n stereo speaker is enough.. n 625 is not that bad, its still stable n efficient.. i'm using zenfone3, moto Zplay, oppo r9s before n all perform great no lag or whatever, plus the battery much more better.. i dont know why u fucking hate 625 so much.. in real life is not much different.. still can gaming, watch FullHD movie, browsing, light editing..

SD625 is crap compared to 1year old sd650.

hope they dun mark up the price too much when coming to malaysia
watched some reviews in youtube, seems to be a good phone, good value

many are selling 4/64 @ RM1299, 4/128 @ RM1499

test taken a night indoor photo under florescent light, not impressive at all - photo is grainy and blur. but it is just a casual shoot, need to test further.

Bought from HK at mi.com/hk/max2 @ HKD1,899, converted to about RM1,070.

Bought it mainly for the large screen as Youtube player in car, it is larger than my Kenwood HU with 6.2" screen. And also for its large battery capacity to fit the purpose as spare phone and mobile hotspot. Using it as a mini tablet actually.

The matt black full metal finishing is actually very very nice. The 2.5D large front glass also great. The only downside is the fat MIUI, hopefully the incoming MIUI 9.0 which promise a slim down OS will trim lots of bloat in the MIUI.

Any good launcher to replace MI launcher? Trying Google Now launcher a the moment but it is too plain for my liking.

can test how's the gps performance for this phone?
This is very important for me

Just tested heading home after work - instant lock upon tapping the GPS icon in the pull down toggle. Great gps signal throughout the 30 mins journey.

yes, global rom. I believe Malaysia version will also be black. Gold colour is China version. International version is black, as sold in HK now.

The matt black not only looks good, but can eliminate the thick black frame problem of the Max on white front face.

Mi Max 2 has passed Sirim approval exactly 1 month ago but until now no news from Mi Malaysia yet. All the gold colour version are AP set from China.

Yes. black color is much more premium looking without the ugly black border.

Hope some more tech savvy members here can share some tips and trick on making the best use of the Mi Max 2.

Do note that this is an import set and not official Malaysia Xiaomi set. So warranty a little more complicated. But it's almost RM200 less and you can get it within next few days. Not sure when the official set will land in bolehland.

this price is very dinamic. One day you see at 1099, next at 1049 then at 1009, now back to 1099. I asked at the thread and the reply was due to Lazada special promo that allowed them to sell at reduced price temporarily. So whoever is lucky will get at the cheaper price.

Agreed, I would also hang on to my Max 1 if I own one now till the next upgrade. But the Max 2 spec, reviews and performance is really compelling value for money, if you don't mind the size. If fact am looking forward to it's larger screen.

Eh sir last question. Speaker on mi max 2 is loud enough? Gsm arena said stereo. But many review at youtube said its not stereo.

im not sure is it stereo or not. but it does have dual speaker when using in landscape mode. one at the bottom grill and one more is at earpiece.

when use in portrait mode, only one speaker active.

Have been using Mi Max 2 as my spare phone since 2 weeks ago. No issue till now but I am not a heavy gamer on mobile. My son will play some tiny games while waiting me to fetch him back from tuition.

Tested night shot and compared with Samsung S8+, photo quality is miles away. But daytime shot under bright light is not bad though.

i dont really care about camera quality since most budget phone's camera quality is average. just afraid about those small issues. its a shame that malaysia version doesnt have 128gb though.

Confirm stereo la. Mi Max (1) is mono speaker, Mi Max 2 is stereo and very loud volume also.

Me too, wondering how this phone camera performance over Mi 5X.

In China MiMax 2 selling price is higher than 5X. Size 5X feature dual camera, but considering the fact that both using same Sony sensor. Both might be the same? But Mi advertisement on Max2 doesn't shout out much on its camera compare with 5X
