Any recommendation for screen protector? Heard tempered glass will get the halo effect.

Thanks.
*
Tempered glass will have a high chance of producing the halo effect.
Maybe you could try non-glass type? But the protection is not as good as a tempered glass (although the glass type will not protect the screen if the hit/drop impact is big)
Wanted to buy online at RM20++ but ended up buying from pasar malam at half price. Not perfect glass but good enough for me. It is just a phone right?

Thanks! I think I will just use a case without the screen protector.

You are welcome.

I read that having a tempered glass is not necessary. The original gorilla glass is good enough. Putting another layer may dampen the touch sensitivity. The screen will look uglier because there is no tempered glass that fully covers the screen due to the curves at the edges, unless you custom-make one yourself. There are bubbles at the sides too. If you want good protection, get a thick protective case to protect the 4 corners of the phone. Those made of TPU type with both hard and soft layers with double protection.

ANyone found good working tempered glass? Knn. Using the phone without one no. Although Gorilla glass.. still takut la.

How good is good? Covering the whole screen? This type is available but more expensive and it comes with the black/white top and bottom. If you want it cheaper say pasar malam, you could get one but it doesn't cover the whole screen.

need some comparison input from you guys that use mi max 2.

i am comparing it with recent huawei nova 2i. as price almost the same, big screen also.

i am looking for a phone with good camer ( heard mimax 2 camera is better then rn4). can snap and shoot picture faster. smooth in interface. thats it, 2 function that i need.

*
Both the front and back cameras of Nova 2i have higher resolution that those from Mi Max 2.
They come with dual cameras too.

Do you all know whether the white USB type C cable that comes with the package, is for power transfer only? Does it allow data transfer?

working for both

Thanks for your replies. My Windows PC cannot detect my phone when I connect it using the USB cable type C that comes with the package. Any reason why? Do I need to install any driver or software? I know I could transfer it using the FTP server but I want to use the cable.

Sorry but no, I didn't.
I was not aware of such option earlier haha. doh.gif
Now I know I should do so.
Thanks!! rclxms.gif

once plug in, my pc show as below

[attachmentid=9258150]

otherwise after you connect your phone to pc, pull down notification and select the choose blue color usb message to choose what u want the usb to do
*
I made a mistake, the phone was detected but no files were shown.
Thanks to you and adie82, I found that 'blue usb message' and enabled the file transfer option.
Thanks!! thumbup.gif

This means the cable could be used for both power and data transfer. I thought I had to buy a separate cable just to transfer the data

normally the cable is working both way- charging and data transfer  laugh.gif

Ya, that's what I thought all this while. Previously the typical USB cable for my older phones could be used for both. Somehow I made wrong assumption that maybe the default cable for Mi Max 2 was only for power transfer since I couldn't get any data (and I read somewhere that there are cables for power only and I have to purchase a separate cable for data doh.gif )

Thanks for reminding me smile.gif

I did. Hope you didn't face any issues after you upgraded.

QUOTE(beyond @ Oct 23 2017, 12:03 PM)
I got my unit from DirectD. THey didnt have the suitable casing to go with the full tempered Screen Protector. Basically the bubble issues.

Since the screen s Gorilla.. I had to sabar and wait for a proper SP to come along. Tragedy struck sometime yesterday despite I took all the precaution eg no keys in the pocket. Somehow a fine scratch was found on the screen.

Sakit Hati. No choice. Went ahead and got a SP. KNN. Same casing. No bubbles issues. But got some oil like texture tat moves beneath the screen protector.  Especially the centre. So I guess it solves the scratches but not 100% yet.

*
Sorry to hear about your scratch. Are you sure the scratch was not there earlier?

What kind of bubble issues? You mean to say, if the casing is incorrect, it will touch and push the full SP off the gorilla screen and create bubbles?

So you are looking for the right casing to fit the full SP nicely?

Not sure what you mean by the oil like texture. Mine has no issues at the centre but both the top edges of my non-full SP are not sticking to the screen, as if there are no adhesive (glue) on the SP on these areas.

Same here. I am used to the halo effect already. It is not obvious unless you focus on the effect.
After all, it is just a phone.

You updated using OTA? There is no need to backup if using OTA right?

My battery heats up when I charge it, sometimes going up to 43 degrees depending on how long it is being charged. Is this normal?

If battery is too hot, it will shorten it's lifespan. Any way to overcome this?

want to ask, does mi max 2 support 4G+? i saw digi got support 4G+ in my area, hehe
*
Got this from another forum:
The 625 Qualcomm Snapdragon processor within MiMAX 2, supports LTE Cat 13 (uplink) and Cat 7 (downlink) communications.
4G+ communications are Advanced LTE communications from Cat 6 and up.
As a result MiMAX 2 supports 4G+

The telco needs to support it too.

I hope you already checked whether Digi in your area supports 4G+
http://new.digi.com.my/services/4g-lte-coverage

Some folks said that due to ROM limitation of the smartphone, 4G+ may not be shown as it is, but shown as 4G instead.
I am not sure about this though.

There's a discussion on Mi 5 (I think we could apply it to Mi Max 2):
