Short review of using P1i for 1 week after flashing to chinese support :

1) the phone do feel a bit slow compare to english firmware. Its only very minimal. Not significant at all.

2) handwriting of chinese is just awesome. Eventhough u write in tradition chinese it still recognise and display it in simplified character. (the phone only support simplified chinese).

3) didnt try out pinyin and stroke... handwriting is more than enough.

4) there is a function to call My words not sure what is it maybe for us to add in new words ?

5) SMS function come with bold, large/small size font and smiley, but it make no different as the recipient cant see the different (maybe the recipient need to be P1i as well)

6) handwriting of english is slow, on screen keyboard is much more faster. The qwerty keyboard... arrr.....still need some time to get more time to practice.

7) battery life : normal usage sms, bluetooth, call.. will last u about 2 days. To improve battery life try to switch off bluetooth, 3G and wlan and close all program that are still running in the background if u dont use it (especially 3D Golf)

8) business card scanner: its basically a black and white scanner c/w OCR, can scan chinese as well. This function works find, most of the time u still need to edit the info after scan. A scan copy of the business card will appear in you phone book. The is really useful.

9) this phone is using the newer version of UIQ 3, therefore most of the old UIQ 3 games dont support.

Overall this phone is superb, no regret buying it. high quality build, elegant design.

ya, i read in one of those handphone magazines lately...some guy's phone jogdial (not sure which, but had jogdial) was faulty but when went back to the AP company, they check and claim that it is user-inflicted, so no waranty... obviously AP company trying to push away the responsilibility, i mean how can u tell if the jogdial is faulty bcos of manufacturing or user damage??

So far I on the phone 24 hrs a day and it did not hang or auto restart. Should be quite stable.

Better opt for original as the Touchscreen LCD doesnt come cheap

Yeah, you have a point there b'coz the LCD and touchscreen thingy is costly to replace and sometimes if we happen to buy a problematic set, then die. If for ordinary cheapo models, AP sets are fine since they can be repaired easily by any shops. Honestly, the price for P1i is less stable than P990i, within a few months, the price has dropped to so much. I guess it will be only RM1000 plus when W960i hits the market. That's the one I'm waiting for. drool.gif

Wanted to buy P1i initially but they keypad is too hard to use, I'm not used to it so I give up, better go for some old school keypads instead which will be more user friendly.

The current firmware is dead stable. No hangs at all during my 1 week of usage! And I don't restart my phone at all.

I also didn't install Swiss Manager, yet. tongue.gif Yet it's still rock stable! thumbup.gif

looking forward to getting a p1i soon..
jus wondering if the touch screen is finger sensitive... as in the touchscreen can be operated by fingers instead of stylus without hassle. any comments? (comparing with HTC TOUCH which is finger friendly on the screen)

and i cant seem to find any D-pad on the p1i. does this means dat all the navigation must be done on the touchscreen? does it performs well ?

lastly, text input!!. how many types of text input is available? eg. qwerty? summore?

thanx in advance guys.. hope to join this club soon!
