just got my P1i.

restarted a few times by itself...sweat

first time during establishing 3G connection for video call
2nd time just reboot for no reason
3rd time is while sync-ing the phone wif my pc.

but anyway, it is a superbly gorgeous phone

officially hanged for the 4th time while i try to make a voice call

how to check for the firmware version?

since the phone is so new is it only 1 verssion of firmware available?

i'll try to do a master reset or a SEUS update and see how is thing going during the weekend.

if really got problem then i'll get back to the seller...

reading chinese character is not a problem
i got it working by following the steps provided in the following links

the problem is just no chinese character input

where are you going to flash the firmware?
and also, will it void the warranty?

by the way, P1i user here using what screen protector?
the only screen protector i found around is martin field and a lil google search revealed some complains from other user that martin field SP is too thick that it affected the sensitivity of touchscreen on the edge. advice needed

anyone knows any GPS software with map for P1i that works with chapalang external bluetooth GPS receiver?

there are improvement, but did not solve all the problem.

1) previously it takes like forever for me to open my messaging. now although still slow, but it is bearable.

2) significant improvement of battery life. i only get less than a day battery life on R6D23. but on R6E30 i still left 20% battery since my last charge 30hours ago. but anyway, i DO think my unit is defective as user feedback usually reports average battery life of 2days.

3) network related crashing issue did not go away with the new firmware. after a few hours (average) of booting, the phone will refused to receive/making SMS/Calls/3G connection. and when you force it to, it will hang straight.

I'm still wondering the network issue has anything to do with maxis or not as i don have the other operator service to try it out.

since it is an AP set...there is a lots of issue.
i requested to exchange for a new set with the AP distro company from day 1 i bought...at first they ask me to leave it there and they want to "fix" it. but they don't even have the firmware for this set and i'm not letting them to tear my brand new phone apart...so after some arguement, they agreed to replace me a new phone.

but later they go and flame the person i buy from (their dealer) and refused to change directly as agreed earlier.

changing CDA is not an easy job.so far i haven't seen any risk free and FOC CDA changing service for P1i.
changing the CDA might risks bricking the phone and voiding warranty

2nd, i'm having singapore CDA, that doesn't give me any chinese input. not even built in chinese display. I'm not sure how many sg CDA is out there though

qwerty is not bad. but the typing speed still no match to T9. but that is just me

just found out the TrackID is a very useful tools when used over wifi, no 3G charges needed
now playing wif speech recognition using BT headset

old tech on new phone.
when u press on ur bluetooth handsfree then u speak out the word u recorded earlier to dial certain number or to execute certain function.
this exist since nokia 3310 as far as my memory serve.
its just if it functions well over bluetooth it will ease my calls during driving a lot

keyboard is non-detachable. there are on screen keyboard as well.

speak and type is not available unless there is any third party software outside tat probably could do this.
the touch screen works fine for me even though screen protector applied. no issue wif the touch screen for me.
