Just find out from Ericserve, that the P1i that available on the market now (original) is English version, meaning no chinese support. The Chinese version will be available soon.
To flash to chinese support version means changing the entire phone software (totally different software); that's why they charge RM100. Does this mean that every time that we update using SEUS we are merely update the same software but newer version? |

If u guy need Chinese support of P1i better wait for while rather than waste RM100 for something that u can get FOC
SE should release the chinese support version in the first place. why english first than follow by chinese version. There is huge market for chinese support handphone |

Finally decided to flash to Chinese support version, RM100 fly
Went to Ericserve yesterday, waited for 2 hours and here are the extras : 1) able to read/write chinese 2) Chinese - English / English - Chinese Dictionary 3) Lunar Calendar Firmware : Phone: CXC 162037 R9H004 Bluetooth: CXC 162143 R1D Organizer: CXC 162156 R6E30 CDA: 162024/95 R5A Please note the followings before changing the firmware: 1) a back-up under the english software will not be able to be restored into the phone under the chinese software. Synchronisation will not be affected though. So you might want to consider doing a synchronisation instead of back-up. 2) your phone will function slower as the chinese software takes up more RAM than the english software, 3) handwriting recognition of english letter might not be as sensitive and will take slightly longer to be registered. 4) the service centres after flashing the chinese software in for you will not be able to flash it back to the original english version. All my phone book (sim card phone book not affected) gone as I didnt synchronise, only do backup. |

Short review of using P1i for 1 week after flashing to chinese support :
1) the phone do feel a bit slow compare to english firmware. Its only very minimal. Not significant at all. 2) handwriting of chinese is just awesome. Eventhough u write in tradition chinese it still recognise and display it in simplified character. (the phone only support simplified chinese). 3) didnt try out pinyin and stroke... handwriting is more than enough. 4) there is a function to call My words not sure what is it maybe for us to add in new words ? 5) SMS function come with bold, large/small size font and smiley, but it make no different as the recipient cant see the different (maybe the recipient need to be P1i as well) 6) handwriting of english is slow, on screen keyboard is much more faster. The qwerty keyboard... arrr.....still need some time to get more time to practice. 7) battery life : normal usage sms, bluetooth, call.. will last u about 2 days. To improve battery life try to switch off bluetooth, 3G and wlan and close all program that are still running in the background if u dont use it (especially 3D Golf) 8) business card scanner: its basically a black and white scanner c/w OCR, can scan chinese as well. This function works find, most of the time u still need to edit the info after scan. A scan copy of the business card will appear in you phone book. The is really useful. 9) this phone is using the newer version of UIQ 3, therefore most of the old UIQ 3 games dont support. Overall this phone is superb, no regret buying it. high quality build, elegant design. |

So far I on the phone 24 hrs a day and it did not hang or auto restart. Should be quite stable.
Better opt for original as the Touchscreen LCD doesnt come cheap |

Anyone encounter the following problems when using P1 ?
1) Alarm There is a function whereby you can set it to activate either Daily, Once, Working day, etc... When I set it to Working Day, the alarm will not sound on Friday and Saturday instead of Saturday and Sunday 2) Disconnecting to PC After disconnecting from PC, the games/application installed and subsequent moved to other location in the menu (ie from Tools move to Entertainment) will return to its original location; Tools. After you restart the phone, its back to Entertainment location again. 3) Changing of theme When u change your theme, all the ringtone will return to its default ringtone rather than the one we set. |

You may also check out Atlantis Communication at SS2, look for Christopher. Please ask whether the phone support chinese read/write if you intend to use chinese. Otherwise you may need to flash it to chinese firmware yourself. |
