Depends on your performance rating. Those who performs spectacularly will get a rating of 1 which will entails a 10-12 percent increment and also a merit bonus which usually range from 3-6 months monthly salary. Those who did outstanding performance will get a rating of 2 and will get an increment of 8-10 percent and a merit bonus equivalent to 2-4 months salary

Normal mortals like the rest of us gets a performance rating of 3 and will get an increment ranging from 4-6 percent and no merit bonus

Those with disciplinary problems will get a performance rating of 4 and will be under review for the next 6 months and if no improvement is seen will be given the sack.

Hello everyone! smile.gif
I've been reading those threads covering the Oil & Gas industry, first of all, would like to say a BIG THANKS to all of you that have contributed to the thread, the feedback and opinion from all of you really opened my mind and gave me some insights into the Oil & Gas industry.

Coming from a non-technical background, a business degree, as I would like to study and explore more about the Oil & Gas industry, what kind of books/ reading materials that all of you would recommend me to go for? Or any other avenues that enables me to learn more about the industry?

Have been browsing through the Amazon website for some book on Petroleum Economics, and the followings are some books that come out in the top of the lists:

Petroleum Economics: Issues and Strategies of Oil and Natural Gas Production, by Rognvaldur Hannesson
An Introduction to Petroleum Technology, Economics and Politics, by J.G Speight
The Global Oil & Gas Industry: Management, Strategy and Finance, by Andrew Inkpen and Michael H. Moffett
Nontechnical Guide to Petroleum Geology, Exploration, Drilling and Production, by Norman J. Hyne
The Petroleum Industry: A Nontechnical Guide, by Charles F. Conaway

Some of those books, if not all, appear to me as text-book like reading materials, is there any good books out there about the industry that all of you can recommend for laymen?

Thank you! smile.gif

Hello Guys;

I am new to the forum and i would really like to get your support.

I have received a good offer from Petronas Malaysia to work as senior drilling engineer for 3 years in Technology & Engineering department; i would like to get more exposure about the following:

- Team work spirits in the department.
- Living expenses in Malaysia (i will be with my wife and 3 kinds).
- Possibility of progressing in the company
- career development and training courses.
- Work load and how this fit with the life style balance.

Any information on the above mention topics will be highly appreciated.

Hello there, need some help here

I just accept offer from Petronas to work in one its OPU. Will have my PIPE starting on 3rd Sept and finish 16 Sept. Will need to report duty on 17th Sept.

May I know, will Petronas take care of my transport and accomodation to go to that OPU and stay for the first few days. I ask this because the place is very new to me and dont have any relatives there. And time given between end of PIPE program and reporting duty is relatively short. If everything is being taken care of, so there is no need to worry la.. icon_question.gif icon_question.gif

And tq for those who reply my question before, I have been offered pstn of exec(process eng). For those who is still waiting for offer letter, u will get it after u do medical check up.

Hey. We are in the same boat. I however had enquire this to hr, their response was no(no transportation or temporary accomadion will be provided) as to their belief they have given us ample time to find ourselves a solution to problems u mentioned above unless if they give you last minute offer which u were required to join them in less than 2 weeks.

As mentioned before, you have to be specific. If you are being sent to work in East Malaysia whereas your original home is at West Malaysia, then you will get free hotel stay for 3 days and 2 nights.
