Well, it's a good place to work for if you look for a job which compensate you good, and no tough workload
*
no tough workload, depends on where you are posted. some places, is challenging and the people there are sought after (by vendor, contractor, middle east), esp plant environment with JV. many left after 5 to 7 yrs as they are stuck in between senior post and middle mgmt. exit is the way up.

can't do much on having too many Bumis > most of them are the scholars that has been given the loan and most of them can't wait to join to browse internet/chatting during work. laugh.gif

pump, compressors, steam turbine

periodic maintenance, condition based maintenance, repair maintenance, condition monitoring of equipment.

maintenance program, SAP, API standards.

that should give you some keywords.

Hi everyone,

I was called by the hr for a technical assesment. I am a fresh graduate. I have screened through the forum thread and all the fresh grduates attended the si interview instead of technical assesment. Anyone out there faces the same situation ?

how does one, who went through all the interview, getting job offer and still asking details on the job? Is the job description not specifically mentioned in the job advert? shouldn't all these question asked to the technical manager that was in the interview session?
*
what you're saying is true for most companies, but not petronas.

they seldom advertise vacancies with the job scopes. even during the interview, the hiring manager and HR would explain only the overview of the job scope as there too many possibilities on which position they will give you. Even the offer letter doesn't specifically mention what the job scope would be. Mechanical Engineer? in what area? Drilling? Static? Rotating?

you'll only know what your real work scope once you meet your superior on your first day of work.

I think its also depends on your field. If you are in technical field like engineering most likely you'll go for technical assessment. Maybe they need someone with strong basic.

Hi

This is my first time posting here in lowyat forum. So mind me asking noob qs. biggrin.gif
Been reading this thread from the beginning (skipped many pages tho).

So Im joining Petronas this Mid june, gonna attend the PIPE starting 17th June.
So here is my question

1. What issit like working in petronas KLCC? Fyi,Im a fresh graduates from UiTM ( graduated Nov 2012) and
this is my first time working.I really have no idea what to expect.

2. What to expect at PIPE,issit gonna be all talks and ceramah and all? Whats the activities like? 2 week so long  cry.gif
Give me some idea on what to expect? icon_question.gif

Thanks!

Congratulations. rclxms.gif

Don't worry your superior will guide you, just be a fast learner and it should be okay.

During PIPE you will have some exposure about the company activities & operation, rules, benefit and some other things. Classroom, grouping, presentation, talks, sports, charity and also exercises. Schedule is pack for two weeks. But once you started working you gonna crave for another two weeks out from office, so just enjoy it..hehhe

Make a lot of friends and ask questions. Also don't forget to laugh and enjoy yourself. It's might be one of your sweet memories later.

hello , I just went to SI on last 14May2013 , but then I received an email on 22May2013 from HR said that I was not selected for the position I applied. I was so upset and frustrated. I submit the other application on the next day based on the requirement given. I just want to know whether Petronas still consider my other application once I was being rejected ? can someone please explain me about this. THANKS
*
Heard that someone has to wait for two years if failed SI in order to be called to SI again. But not really sure also since your case is not selected for the position applied. You may still apply and at the same time gaining experience outside.

Good morning all, i want ask to who have done PIPE, if join PIPE on 16hb, do salary will be paid at the end of that month?
*
Means your starting date is 16th right? Directly go to PIPE. Most likely you will only get your first salary on the next month. So prepare with some saving.

Petronas? Environment depends much on whos yur superior & section colleagues. Get shitty ones, feel like shit everyday.

True story. Still, good company as stepping stone for career. Plenty of tolerance to screw up and learn.

Totally agree. Some section felt like heaven and some felt like hell. No choice but gonna tastes both.

Hello guys, I've been reading this thread from page 1 to 99 these two days, i find this place highly informative for those who wish to or about to join Petronas. smile.gif
However i still have few questions below and i hope the sifus here can enlighten me. I got my resume submitted (through cable XD) and got call from HR today invite me for a chit-chat session, i am very excited and nervous at the same time

1. Just a quick one, the position according to the email title is marketing, Korea, China and Taiwan Dept. Is anyone here from marketing division? How does the job basically like? I guess we are not expected to do sales right? I don't know how to prepare for the session since i know nothing about the job.. sad.gif
2. Since Petronas is basically owned by government, does my academic background need to be recognized by them? My degree is issued by an Uni in UK but i completed the studies in Segi College instead of any Public Uni like most of you did, and i am not sure does government recognize my degree program. Also, erm...does our SPM results will be assessed while short-listing? My results aren't that good but my Diploma and Degree are okay (cgpa 3.59, second upper). I am not fresh graduate though, had two years of banking experience in int'l trade operation which is nothing to do with marketing, not sure how much of chances i stand to get the offer XD

Thanks in advance. I am really anxious now as i couldn't imagine that i would ever land an interview (although it's informal one) with Petronas smile.gif

Hi,

i got call from HR Petronas last week asking me to come to SI on the very next day. But I ask to postpone and rearrange the date for SI on the first or second week of July due to my current job commitment. He said okay and will inform me once confirm. But since, the HR never call back to confirm on this.

Did I just blew my chance? As I heard that HR will not entertain candidates whose asking for rearrange date or something like that.
*
Do you get any calls from Hr until now ? we are in the same boat since i didnt pick up their calls due to my silent phone .

Don't know what you mean by the working progress is sluggish but trust me Petronas is in no way like your typical Bumiputera company. Sure we have lots of Bumis there but it is by no means run like a government agency.

Sorry that I have to disagree with the last bit too. Whoever thinks that working with Petronas is easy is deluded. Yes, the staff do get pretty handsome bonuses and pay rise but the company really does work one's backs*de off particularly if you're working in Upstream. I have been on a constant 7am-8pm work schedule for the past month or so and have to bring work home sometimes. cry.gif It really depends on which OPU and department one works at as well as the season smile.gif
