So you are saying there is no work-life balance in Petronas? Or does that depends on which dept. u are working in..
*
I would say depends on which department you're working in, got 2 friends, A and B. B joined high workload department, working 9-10 everyday, sat and sun exclusive. A joined department with lighter workload, only busy on certain days of the month , after that, can clocked in early, cabut early. As of me, My boss's philosophy is, as long as you fulfill flexi working hours, working 7-4, 8-5,9-6 also can. While My friend from across department's culture quite diff, his boss practise " engineer should work late" mindset. he's been working 7-7 everyday, sat and sun inclusive since march. He suffered low morale dy......

east malaysia allowance - 10% of your basic salary

and if you are based in Bintulu, you will be entitled to housing allowance
*
They called it Assistance allowance, and it will be revised after 2 years. Rental rate in Bintulu is crazy !!

i have applied for MLNG bintulu executives operation (entry level) thru discoverpetronas website as i will finished my degree around june.how long would it take for them to respond?they published the post on 06/03/2013...i really want to work in petronas..i also have my internship there last year at technical service department.
*
Hi there, period of time from applying until getting the first call from HR normally takes arr 1-4 months, few choices you can do:

1) snail mail to MLNG HR,(enclosed with Cover letter of coz) doesnt guarantee faster processing, but no harm trying.
2) Look for other OnG job.

no tough workload, depends on where you are posted. some places, is challenging and the people there are sought after (by vendor, contractor, middle east), esp plant environment with JV. many left after 5 to 7 yrs as they are stuck in between senior post and middle mgmt. exit is the way up.

can't do much on having too many Bumis > most of them are the scholars that has been given the loan and most of them can't wait to join to browse internet/chatting during work.  laugh.gif

Your description on Plant environment with JV sounds familiar......

If you wish to do something that is commercial/ less technical, there are many options for you such as supply chain management (also known as sendiri mahu sendiri order laugh.gif ), risk management, HSE, operational excellence, knowledge management etc

Speaking of "sendiri mahu sendiri order", our plant had a lot of "funny" experience with them....

Yes, one has to find his or her own place. A room costs around RM350-450, some inclusive while some exclusive of utility bills. I am lucky that mine is less than RM300 per month. Once you are based in Bintulu, you are entitled to RM400 of housing assistance on top of 10% EM allowance, if you are an executive. Some housing areas should be avoided. PM me should you need more info on that.
As for transport, your company does provide vans or buses to pick you up, but it is subject to where you live.

Klein, seems like u're very familiar with MLNG. i'm impressed.

Gonna report to PET's LNG Complex in Bintulu on the 16th as a fresh grad. Haven't got the offer letter though. So wanna ask if one has to find their own housing and transportation when working in Bintulu for PET? Heard that it's hard to find cheap rental in Bintulu?
*
You'll be staying at hotel for 2 weeks (extendable to 1 month, ask HR), sponsored by company upon arrival. During that period, you're supposed to find room/house rent (tips? ask HR for room rental advert). Bus route? ask HR. All in All, Ask HR....huhu
