My puppy doesn't want to eat his dog food instead he's been stealing my cat's food. However he especially likes tin food. Shall I switch to soft food for him?  icon_question.gif

Dogs will always like catfood coz catfood has more added flavourings. Dogs can taste even the mildest of flavour but cats are picky eaters and will only eat food that is great in taste. So manufacturers put in more flavourings, that is why dogs like catfood but don't feed it ah.... keep it away. The nutritions in cat food is very different from dog food.

Do not switch to soft foods... it's like digging a grave for the teeth liao hahahah..... soft foods are always tasty and palatable than dry food but then the soft food doesn't exercise the teeth and gums, it won't help with the mouth muscles. Soft foods will cause bad breath as well. The teeth can become weak and drop off before old age....

Your puppy wants tastier food lah.... switch to Orijen lah.... high protein and palatable for picky dogs since Chelsea finishes it and she is a picky dogfood eater. Science Diet taste like dry cream crackers.... Orijen taste like dry biscuits but with a strong meaty smell and has a meat aftertaste.

Or you can always try feeding BARF... a raw diet.... raw meat and raw bones won't cause tartar build up and will keep the teeth clean and healthy and all dogs love raw meat and raw bones. But your pup still young.... so.... it is still better to feed a high quality dogfood product.

thanks. will look for Orijen.

At this moment, I'm mixing milk with dog food. She drinks all the milk and leave behind the dog food biscuits even tho it's already soft.

If Orijen doesn't works then I would have to take away her food after 10 minutes. Cruel to be kind. flex.gif

You can get ORijen from White Palace. I bought from him too! I havent open my packet yet so I dont know if it would work for you.

Take up his bowl after 30 minutes he didnt eat. My dog has the same problem last week and this week, he's all well behaved now. Finish his food in 5 min each meal!

Yes, you will have to slowly change. For now, introduce Raw chicken bones first to your Jack Jack and Xun Xun.... for me ah, BARF easy coz my frien'd shop Pet Epicure produce ready to use BARF diet.... 1 day 1 block.... then 1 block is 100g and 1 day only eat 1 to 2 blocks.... cheap also lah since 1 block only cost RM1 but you must have a big freezer... I stopped coz no space in freezer... You can make your own too.... Normally BARF diet contains raw bones the most.... then some raw meat, intro some of the internal parts too but a bit only. You can give liver, heart, kidney.... some people say the best internal organ is the green tripe but a bit hard to find here since all tripe are clean. Green tripe means straight from the cow, never wash or boil hahaah... sounds a bit gross I guess. Then you have to include vegetables too.... Must puree different vegies into a paste and mix with the raw foods.... you can include about 10 to 20% boiled rice too.... Read the thread I had linked, you can find useful info there.

Chicken bone make sure it is fed raw, and avoid those with sharp parts, i.e. "drumb stick" (of coz i mean the bone not the meat)

Weekends they close at 2pm... so it is better to get early lah. They are closed on Fridays. I like what they have, you can give variety also. Got chicken, lamb, duck.... I think fish too.... so far I have tried Chelsea on Chicken and lamb.... duck always no stock and the supply there quite fast finish sometimes.

True.... now got bird flu scare.... anyway, you can also use pork and lamb bones but I think too hard for Hepy since he has never chewed on raw bones before... it doesn't need to be a treat, you can feed it everyday 1 neck or 1 foot.
