for pee/poo .. currently I'm also training my pup to pee/poo at newspapper. Night time, i cage him when i sleep. WAke up, first thing in the morning, i give him his breakfast IN THE CAGE. After he makan, i release him and bring him to newspaper - ask him to stay and shee shee. I leave him there for few minutes and he'll auto pee there. When he peed, I praise him and give him treats and stroke his head. Then 10 minutes later, bring him back to that newsppaer and ask him to poo. If he doesn't poo in within 15 minutes, i'll ask him to come and i'll play with him for 30 min like that. Then make him drink water and bring him to newsppaer again - repeat until he poo. Nite time after dinner, repeat the same thing lo. ASk him go newspaper pee/poo. If he did it, then treats lor. Currently he is sitll not 100% housebroken. Will still pee/poo on the floor sometimes and still dunno how to walk back to the newsppaer to pee/poo when needed. Need time lor. Jz repeat the process till he gets it in his head. But at least now he noes if he walks to the newspaper, he'll get treats from me . As for the eye discharge, take a piece of cloth and dampen it with warm water. Then hold his head with force and wipe lor. If he struggle, scold him lor. Ask him to stay lor. But truly speaking, i've neva experience this b4. My pup lets me clean his ears and eyes voluntarily without struggling. This post has been edited by Syrian: Jun 24 2007, 11:32 PM

pennywise, Hepy is 4 months plus, turning into 5 months old SOON. Last time he can tahan 24 hours din pee/poo at all. When I bought him home, i used the wrong way to teach him to pee/poo - jz like some ppl mentioned - hit his ass or scold him when u see him pee/poo at wrong spot. Punish him, bla bla bla. Those din work at all. It was a hassle and a huge headache for me to housebreak him that time. But now, he's improving a lot. I'm using the "treat" method now. And it does work. He's happy; I'm also happy. He gets his yummy treat and I dun haf to clean the floor so often .. hehe. Now when he did some mistakes, I din hit his ass or scold him. I only say frown and say "no, you bad boy" and I clean up the mess silently. This way, our r/ship also improves a lot. He's so bonded to me now .

yea ... hepy sleeps with me on my bed ALL the time except bedtime. Before this, he used to sleep with me at nite too until he suddenly started to wee wee on my tilam . Then I lock him in cage when i go zzz at night time and try out the caging method to train him to pee/poo. Now, before he zzz with me on my tilam (daytime), I make sure he wee wee and poo first .

i c .. i use a piece of cloth and i started about one week ago. I didn't rub it very hard coz I thot i might hurt his gums, etc. I think i'll get kid's toothbrush too. And I made the solution watery .. not creamy. No wonder it doesn't show any effect... hehehe. I dun give Hepy any wetfood. I think he got the tartar from chew sticks .. hehe. Will reduce those and get him a nylon bone instead.

I still haven't buy any chicken bone for hepy yet coz at the moment, bird's flu is so serious. Don't wanna risk it . Wait till it's over first, then i'll start getting chicken neck / claw for hepy too. Crazymouse, do i give to him as a treat? Or how ar ?

dunno wud to reply - too many posts . Valentineday, don't let your dog out alone. You're risking it getting kidnapped. And also if you give too much freedom on your new puppy, in later days, it's going to be a hard job for you to control him. Don't give him too much freedom when you just brought him home. Restrict his freedom and give more and more gradually as time passes.
