hey guys, hv a question here.
hope 2 get some answers b4 my 5 lil new born pups get take away by the council.

they r rott x spitz = rottiespitz [mogrels?]
born bout 2 weeks ago.
my parents made asked the carpenter 2 make a new shelter for them, which is like a dog house dat fits the mother and the 5 pups. a 50watt bulb is fixed on the "ceiling" to keep them warm, as junnie said. its on 24 hours, as my hometown has the famous name of "raintown", which it rains almost everyday.
we gave them puppy's milk as the mother doesnt have enough milk to feed all 5 pups. she's a lil skinny.
the pups keep on crying every minute, and we dunno wats wrong with them, even the vet says they're very healthy. eyes open already, think they can see us.
they oni stop crying when my bro carries them, n bring them into my house. my mom was a bit angry this morning, she whack one of the small butts cos the pup was crying too loud n its annoying, carried her inside the house, left her in my jack-jack's cage, on the fan. she immediately went quiet.

1. isit too hot ourside that they cant stand the heat and went crying all over? [i don think so cos it always rains, and the shelter is quite cooling. we left towels there 2 keep them warm in case its too cold]

2. the mother doesnt really like 2 go near them, n seldom feed them. y? how can i make her like her kids?

3. the way the pup cry is like crying 4 attention. after some1 pets their head or carry them they'll stop. y?

firstly is the ventilation ok for the shelter? Inside may be humid but not hot. Rain doesn't mean it's cool but rather humid if the ventilation isn't good or there's no wind wink.gif

secondly... the mother may be too tired and under nourished to go near the babies coz she knows if she were to be near them, the babies would tire her even more. Please check her nipples to see if there's any infection or not.

thirdly...mayb coz they did not get affection from the mom.

My puppy doesn't want to eat his dog food instead he's been stealing my cat's food. However he especially likes tin food. Shall I switch to soft food for him? icon_question.gif

the dog food was from the owner's recommendation, Frontie or Frontline...need to double check on that.

Can food given is Puppy's Science Plan Chicken flavour.

She most of the time would eat my kitten Science Plan and his can food whenever possible whereas I've given him enough food.

She's a Golden Retriever by the way...guess they eat a lot but still she doesn't want to eat her own food. doh.gif

Dogs will always like catfood coz catfood has more added flavourings. Dogs can taste even the mildest of flavour but cats are picky eaters and will only eat food that is great in taste. So manufacturers put in more flavourings, that is why dogs like catfood but don't feed it ah.... keep it away. The nutritions in cat food is very different from dog food.

Do not switch to soft foods... it's like digging a grave for the teeth liao hahahah..... soft foods are always tasty and palatable than dry food but then the soft food doesn't exercise the teeth and gums, it won't help with the mouth muscles. Soft foods will cause bad breath as well. The teeth can become weak and drop off before old age....

Your puppy wants tastier food lah.... switch to Orijen lah.... high protein and palatable for picky dogs since Chelsea finishes it and she is a picky dogfood eater. Science Diet taste like dry cream crackers.... Orijen taste like dry biscuits but with a strong meaty smell and has a meat aftertaste.

Or you can always try feeding BARF... a raw diet.... raw meat and raw bones won't cause tartar build up and will keep the teeth clean and healthy and all dogs love raw meat and raw bones. But your pup still young.... so.... it is still better to feed a high quality dogfood product.

thanks. will look for Orijen.

At this moment, I'm mixing milk with dog food. She drinks all the milk and leave behind the dog food biscuits even tho it's already soft.

If Orijen doesn't works then I would have to take away her food after 10 minutes. Cruel to be kind. flex.gif
