Singapore is most threatened in the region, so need ample punch to strike as the best defense.

on the hindside, someone got the knowhow to use 2 submarines to fight pirates on sampans in Sulu sea  devil.gif

Having 2 submarine for a navy is a waste in operation money. You need the right number of ship to do proper operation rotation. Submarine operation is wide, so for malaysia case with one in dock for refit only one is in patrol. Having 6 ship meant they can have 1 ship on refit and still have 3 on patrol and 1 on standby and ship on shore leave.

Even for Singapore , the sihp number is already at minimum. Singapore buy are not because threathen but calculated requirement. If we are felt threathen by our neighbours we don' t have patrol vessel but all will be fully armed frigate, destroyer and 12 submarine.😈

one got to know the threat one faces.

for operation and need in Sabah, submarine is no use at all to counter the threat from Sulu.

and for South China sea, it is a crowded party there and no match to the mighty PRC.

so why waste money?

we always have a healthy culture here except sometime when bunney is on period laugh.gif

we don't need you and certainly you don't need us as we never question on why your forces did what they do and what rights of you to do the same here.

from this kind of post clearly you don't have any slight of idea the condition there, the condition of the sea and even the other agencies that are guarding the Sulu sea, mind you recent kidnapping at Sulu sea does not even occur on Malaysia side of the sea.

leave that motherfucking my country dick is bigger that yours mentality of just stay away from this thread

this is a logical explanation towards the situation in this part of the world, it is agreed that 2 subs are inediquate and by the time we have time and money to really secure 6 submarines, the first 2 already time for retirement, so you get the logic.

GST > 10%

At the moment Malaysian Navy is not going to war with any country, but it doesn't mean that Malaysian should not operates a submarines coz it will take years before they can train and build submarines crew and submarines facilities ... insufficient numbers yes, but Malaysia need to start somewhere and having two submarines is adequate, serve as a training ground for Malaysian Navy personal.

you see Malaysian dont really bother how many subs Singapore have. If a war broke loose between Malaysia n Singapore submarines will not be the deciding factor... but its not going to happen coz if it does go to war ,both country will loose...

Why the Thai army is so powerful

Over the past decades, squabbling politicians have become the trademark of Thai politics. The yellow shirts supported by the elites favour a form of guided democracy loyal to the monarchy. The red shirts, backers of political parties loyal to Thaksin Shinawatra have won all the elections since 2001. But the most important political actor wears camo and black: the Thai armed forces.

Its 1,600 generals are part of the old establishment that dominates the political space. But they are not allowed to participate in elections. Instead they flex their muscles to oust political rivals. They staged coups in 2006 and 2014 to remove the Shinawatra family from power. Since then, they have had a go at reshaping Thailand’s economic, political and moral order.

How did the Thai army become so powerful?

Unlike other armies, Thailand’s was not created to fight wars or defend the country's territorial integrity. Instead, it was primarily an internal army to be deployed for consolidation purposes within a loosely-held realm. Over time it came to fill the roll of a bureaucracy. Partly because it has faced no external threat, it has become (and remains) the most important political force within Thailand.

Thailand’s army derives its legitimacy as a political actor from the monarch. Its primary duty is to protect the monarchy. The king is much revered and the army’s sole source of legitimacy. The army commands respect because the throne authorizes its rule.

Coups that replace elected government have become a "legitimate" part of the Thai political process. The current prime minister is the 29th PM since the abolition of absolute monarchy in 1932. Caught in a vicious cycle of coups, democratic institutions and political parties remain weak. The army’s dominance has hindered their development.

So what could change this? A bloody army crackdown could discredit the army, as what happened following the Black May massacre in 1992. But whatever happens next--an election, a new constitution--it looks as if the army will retain its entrenched influence across Thai politics.

KUALA LUMPUR 1 Mei - Seramai 131,813 kakitangan awam Kementerian Pertahanan termasuk warga Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) bakal menerima manfaat satu kenaikan mata gaji tahunan mengikut Skim Perkhidmatan Awam Persekutuan berkuat kuasa 1 Julai ini.

Katanya, pemegang Ijazah Sarjana Muda Kejuruteraan pula bakal memperoleh gaji baharu RM2,876.67 berbanding RM2,703.37 seterusnya pemegang Ijazah Sarjana Muda Perubatan Veterinar pula menikmati gaji RM3,022.13 berbanding RM2,593.94 sebulan.

Explosion hits St Petersburg metro; at least 9 killed

MOSCOW: At least nine people were killed and 20 were injured when an explosion tore through a train carriage in the St Petersburg metro system on Monday (Apr 3), the Russian National Anti-Terrorist Committee said.

Interfax news agency quoted an unnamed source as saying the blast was caused by a bomb filled with shrapnel.

The Saint Petersburg metro said in an earlier statement carried by Russian news agencies that it had closed two stations, Technological Institute and Sennaya Ploshchad - two neighbouring stations on one line - and was evacuating all passengers.

"Evacuation of passengers is ongoing, there are people injured," it said. "An unidentified object supposedly blew up in a (train) carriage."

Russian security agencies said they found an explosive device at the "Ploshchad Vosstaniya" metro station, a different location from where the blast took place, and made it safe.

Video showed injured people lying bleeding on a platform, some being treated by emergency services and fellow passengers. Others ran away from the platform amid clouds of smoke, some screaming or holding their hands to their faces.

A huge hole was blasted in the side of a carriage with metal wreckage strewn across the platform. Passengers were seen hammering at the windows of one closed carriage.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, who was himself in St Petersburg for a meeting with Belarussian leader Alexander Lukashenko, said he was considering all possible causes for the blast, including terrorism. He was consulting with security services.

St Petersburg emergency services at first said that there had been two explosions. But a source in the emergency services later said that there had been only one but that the explosion had occurred in a tunnel between stations.

The blast occurred at 2.40pm, well shy of the evening rush hour.

Authorities closed all St Petersburg metro stations. The Moscow metro said it was taking unspecified additional security measures in case of an attack there.

Russia has been the target of attacks by separatist Chechen militants in past years. Islamic State, which has drawn recruits from the ranks of Chechen rebels, has also threatened attacks across Russia in retaliation for Russian military intervention in Syria.

At least 38 people were killed in 2010 when two female suicide bombers detonated bombs on packed Moscow metro trains.

Over 330 people, half of them children, were killed in 2004 when police stormed a school in southern Russia after a hostage taking by militants. In 2002, 120 hostages were killed when police stormed a Moscow theatre to end another hostage taking.

Putin, as prime minister, launched a 1999 campaign to crush a separatist government in the Muslim southern region of Chechnya, and as president continued a hard line in suppressing rebellion.

This is a developing story. Please refresh for updates.
