I had been in Taiwan since 18/07 and never see any nice Pinang chicks-all are middle aged aunties wearing short pants.
Malaysians will be granted a month stay without any visa application, all you need to do is just filling up the embarkation form.
Was in Taipei for 3 days, Hualien 3 days, Chuifeng 3 days, Keelung 1 day and now already spending the 3rd day in Taichung planning to vist the south.
Will be back on 06/08.

Anyone been to Taiwan recently? Looking for recommendation on hotels to stay at. Would be nice if someone can provide budget ones, and average ones (like RM200 per night or so).

And what are the must-dos, if I have 5 days and don't intend to follow a tour

Yes, at Hualian I can recommend this Min-Sook (family style hotel which is very popular in Taiwan) called Yuen Sook which is at the town center and right behind the new post office. Very clean and comfortable room at NT$ 1,200 (about RM130) per night for 3 pax. (air-con with attached bath and refrigerator)

As for tour guide, you can try http://www.0910366924.tw very informative guys who charge around NT$3,000 per day from 9am to 9pm, transportation included.
And in Hualian, don't miss the wantan there, one of the very best I have tasted.
The shop name is called Yi Siang.

IMO, there is not much to see in Taipei except for the 101 Building and the National Museum.
The next best thing is to visit Keelung's night market and Chuifen.

Just got a call to some friends in Taiwan. All southern and eastern part of Taiwan now NO GO including the famous Alishan. Everything washed out pretty bad by the typhoon. Wait for a couple of months for them to repair the roads.

RM304 for return ticket? That's a very good deal.
I book from Taipei to KL is approx TW11500 (RM1200) for travel in Sept 27.
This is reverse for me because one of my office is in Taipei.
I wish it is this cheap for Malaysian who wants to travel from Taipei back to Malaysia.

What do you mean ming shu ya?? blink.gif
