Hi,

Came back from Taiwan 2 weeks ago. Taiwan was great overall, love it =))

As for the Driver i mention above, Miss Gu古小姐 and Mr Zhen曾先生, they are both great, very friendly and careful driver. highly recommended
Due to some part of the road from CingJing to Hehuan San and Taroko is narrow and winding, the husband (Mr Zhen) was the driver as he is more familiar with the roads. Then for the second part which is the last part of Taroko to Hualien, the wife (Ms Gu) took over.
So we actually met both of them.

i hired them from CingJing Farm - HeHuan San - Taroko Gorge - Hualien

Fees : TWN 4500 perday (from 9am to 8pm)

I also would like to recommend the Minsu i stayed in CingJing Farm. The view was superb in the morning with the clouds surround the mountains !!! We woke up abt 5am in the morning to catch the view. Something that i will nv forget..... missed it so much...

The steamboat my minsu provide us for dinner was so tasty too

Hi guy! Has anyone went to Feng Jia (逢甲) before? Where to visit over there? I'll be going to Feng Jia soon & just want to know where else I can visit there. Currently the plan is only 九族文化村,逢甲夜市 & 日月潭. Any suggestions?

QUOTE(kambing @ May 1 2011, 01:07 PM)
i recomend you use credit card at taiwani coz the rate will be better unless sudden overnight drop in myr. always better then wawasan best rate, example today base rate is 10.33 by cc you wil get maybe 10.40-10.45 but the best rate at wawasan today is 10.6. it was from my experience last time.

QUOTE(MandyG @ May 1 2011, 01:46 PM)
Ya, indeed is truth but all credit card have charges.... use debit card are mostly advisable... my friend use credit card and the rate almost is Rm10- NT100.....
*
kambing is right as regards credit/debit card usage in Taiwan. There are admin charges for credit as well as debit cards but it should be the same for both the aforesaid card types - normally, you would still get a better exchange rate (as compared with Wawasan) through card payment.
See the thread on credit card foreign exchange rate.

The only thing you should not be doing save for a grave emergency is using your credit card for a cash advance - this attracts a cash advance fee and also a high interest rate on the sum withdrawn. Do your homework as to whether it is worthwhile to convert your RM to US$ first before re-converting to NT$.

QUOTE(stimix @ May 1 2011, 08:36 PM)
The reason why using ATM or even CC in cheaper in Taiwan is very obvious- The money changers in M'sia is selling NT$ higher than market rate.  smile.gif

So the best way, if you need cash b4 going and dunwan to risk, ATM not activated or certain CC cannot be used, Better change to US$ 1st & thereafter to NT$ in the airport. Just follow the guide on pg1

Well said. AMEX acceptance is poor generally, unless you shop exclusively at luxury boutiques and big departmental stores like Sogo/eslite. @MandyG You can search my posts in the credit card thread with respect to exchange rates (plus admin fee) for Maybankard AMEX vs Maybankard Visa vs CIMB MasterCard. To the best of my knowledge, Visa is the most widely accepted card in Taiwan and many places have the payWave feature.

Check your ticket. What plane is MAS using..Are they still using Boeing 737-800 there? For me really uncomfortable using smaller plane for long-haul flight

Depart: Boeing 777-200
Return: Boeing 737-800

How bad it is?! worse than AA? any entertainment?

Btw, Luckily i book the ticket early, cause 1 hour later, i checked back the price, it increases like hell. I guess the reason is ticket almost sold off. (*best deal price RM442 air ticket only w/o taxes)

At first, we plan to go for 8D7N, we checked the price, it was RM1100+(include taxes) on MAS website. But when i trying to book ytd, the price increased, so we choose 6D5N which the price is also RM1100+. This morning, i checked the site again, the 8D7N price back to RM1100 again. Whats wrong with MAS?! increase price just for few hours then go back to low price?! shakehead.gif shakehead.gif
