QUOTE(KilJim @ Apr 18 2017, 09:58 AM) Hah! I don't think it crosses their head when they decided not to repay. Not looking at the whole picture until things escalated and shit hits the fan.. Good that they're implementing these things then A lot of hypocrites in Malaysia, complain about a corrupt government then turn around and do things like this Taking a loan and not repaying on purpose, what's the difference from swindling money? Younger generations would have made to "pay" for all these. QUOTE(aLertz @ Apr 18 2017, 10:21 AM) |

Could be anything from few thousands to 70K? Almost 4% obtained first class which they cannot afford to waive every first class anymore.. and half of them not making any repayment yet. Just painful to read. |

QUOTE(coolguy99 @ Apr 18 2017, 10:26 AM) yeah i worked in sg before but the officer couldn't have known...i was like heading to the ALL PASSPORT queue like a normal tourist and the officer just directed me to the automated gate. maybe they have upgraded their system and we are like the "white mouse" trying out their new upgrade? i think newly implementedi saw it on the tv while queuing at counter during cny. i think cause during entry, your details are captured, so when they exit, they can use the autogate. now even pr need to scan fingers at counter. |

I'm sure there's a lot of things they can do if they want to treat it like a normal loan from a bank
Easiest is bar them from getting any bank loans, can't buy cars or houses I feel they're very lenient cause its a gov education loan And also that it's such a huge base of non-paying people, suddenly implementing something really strict will have a big impact |

QUOTE(ThanatosSwiftfire @ Apr 18 2017, 12:30 PM) Is anyone's guess. They didn't bar anyone from applying loans, credit card and leaving the country years ago. Would rather pay up to have that peace of mind. It also doesn't take a genius to think that money loaned out by the government are collected through taxes? |

When you borrow, you pay lo. Not like even Rm50 also cannot afford to pay, that's like a mere S$16 only.
Save few cups of "atas" coffee and you can pay. |

QUOTE(momijigari @ Apr 18 2017, 08:02 AM) I've heard of this anecdotally but it's first time happening to someone I know, so got carried away a wee bit. one way, gov can do is block employers from contributing epf $$ to employees epf account of those blacklisted, Anyway, I am glad they are doing something/initiating to collect back the money they loaned out. There are few possibilities - don't think she doesn't has the money to pay since the monthly payment is pretty affordable. 1. Being ignorant 2. Heck care about the system 3. The usual hide and seek from the creditor - pay later This is not as bad as being blocked at the checkpoints/airports but yeah the authority is doing it in full force which is commendable. Few years back, I have another colleague (now ex-colleague) who told us it's stupid to pay back PTPTN then auto channel/divert employer's $$ epf contributions to ptptn account/office to clear debt directly. QUOTE(coolguy99 @ Apr 18 2017, 10:15 AM) now even foreigners can use the automated gates? i just came back from singapore for vacation and when i was passing through immigration the officer directed me to the automated gate which i thought was for singapore pr / citizen only. and i managed to pass through without surrendering the departure card. QUOTE(aLertz @ Apr 18 2017, 10:21 AM) as far as i know, those with working pass are able to use the automated gates... not sure bout tourists though... Since at least beginning of this year I think. My parents came to visit and when they came in the (airport) immigration officer gave them a small flyer inviting them to just go ahead and use autogates on their departure. No need to surrender white card. |
