Mid and lower end AMD Ryzen is scheduled to be released next month, so this build is still based on Intel CPU and they are many possible builds for your budget, you didn't list out which games you are going to play so I'll just use a dual core i3 as reference, you may ditch the SSD and upgrade to i5 or even GTX1060 if you prefer to get something that is able to improve your gaming experience.

Intel Core i3 7100 - RM 522
ASRock H110M-HDV - RM 260
G.SKill Aegis 8GB DDR4 2133MHz RAM - RM 255
Zotac GTX1050Ti 4GB GDDR5 Mini - RM 729
Kingston SSDNow UV400 120GB SSD - RM 234
Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD - RM 219
FSP Hexa+ 450W - RM 169
Tecware F3 - RM 119

Total: RM 2507 (ETECH price inclusive of GST)

Hi. Recently my rig went kaput. The specs are:

AMD Athlon 4x 635 Processor
Asus M4N68-T Mobo
GTX580 GPU(Sent for diagnose)
1TB Samsung HDD
8GB Kingston Hyper fury X Ram
23" Samsung S23a350H (Faulty HDMI port, only VGA available)

I rarely use the PC, less than 10 hours per mth. I may spend more time gaming after the upgrade. My budget is around RM500 to RM1,500 for upgrade. I am thinking of buying a GTX1060 3GB mini but I am afraid that my CPU will substantially bottleneck the GPU. I do not mind used hardware as long as the price is great. PC usage for occasional 1080p DotA 2 gaming. Could any sifu here kindly recommendations or links? Ah, btw before I forget, is it better for me to repair my monitors' HDMI, buy a new monitor or stick with VGA for now? Thanks.
*
You don't need GTX1060 for 1080p Dota 2, GTX1050(or Ti) is more than enough to give you 60 FPS max settings in games (provided CPU is not the bottleneck). BTW, the performance of GTX1050Ti is quite similar to GTX580, no need to upgrade if it is still working (the problem is the GPU right?).

VGA is using analog signal and new GPU models ditched VGA since long time ago and switched to digital signal to provide a better display output quality. If you want to save money then you can just get an adapter, not necessary need to repair it since VGA is still able to output 1080p60 fairly well.

Budget] 1k or 1.5k

[Purpose] Gaming

[Hardwares that will be re-use] gtx 750ti, Mouse,Keyboard, Monitor, WiFi adapter.

[Personal preferences] would love to have the mobo to be compatible for future i5 and Graphics card when I wanna update it. Approx 6 month from now?

Future i5? We aren't sure if Intel is going to re-use LGA1151 socket for their 8th gen CPU yet so this is hard to guarantee but rest assured it would be compatible with current gen i5 (6th and 7th).

Intel Pentium G4560 - RM 244
Asus H110M-D - RM 279
G.SKill Aegis 8GB DDR4 2133MHz RAM - RM 255
Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD - RM 219
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 195
Tecware Edge - RM 149

Total: RM 1341 (ETECH price inclusive of GST)

Your build looks okay. Note however that your existing 22" Samsung monitor don't have DVI nor HDMI input. You want to maintain this as your primary? For RM600, your choice will just be main stream 60Hz monitors eg ACER 24" KA241 (RM599). Since your existing Samsung is a 22", you could consider ACER 21.5" KA221Q (RM499). Note that both have DVI and HDMI inputs

My existing samsung monitor has been following me since 4 years back, I will put this as secondary, other brands or models that you can recommend? Why only acer?

Side note, not sure how to extend monitor with desktop. It is easy with laptop but I never tried with desktop. Need some reference/guidance

Would be good to know what kind of games you play to establish whether they are GPU/CPU demanding or not. Here's something to consider:

CPU - Intel G4560 RM249
Mobo - Asus H110i-PLUS RM380
RAM - 8GB Kingston PC DDR4-2133 RM270
HDD - 1TB 7200rpm RM212
Case - Cooler Master Elite 110 RM189
PSU - Cooler Master Elite 550W RM235
GPU - GIGABYTE GTX1050 2G D5 OC RM599

TOTAL - RM2134 based on C-Zone pricing

For better GPU, GIGABYTE GTX1050TI 4G D5 RM715
Add SSD, KINGSTON UV400 120GB RM239

Those games you mentioned do take advantage of the extra cores, so yea i5 will give you a more stable frame rate and gaming experience.

do i need to change the psu and mobo that u suggested earlier to cater for the cpu?

Try Viewsonic VA2419-sh, RM499 from Viewnet.

It's 24 inch 1080p IPS panel monitor.

I came across an AMD A10 7850k and FM2A88X+ Killer selling for RM500. Since my GPU is not working, I was thinking of buying this as a replacement. Is the price and performance any good? I may consider buying the R9 380X tomorrow to combo with this APU. Will the APU iGPU increase the FPS of external GPU? Will there be huge bottlenecks? Sorry, I do not understand much about APU. blush.gif

By the way, if I were to sell all my old hardwares except for HDD and RAM, how much do you think I should price them? The issues with the hardwares are stated above. Thank you in advance.

You can estimate potential bottleneck using this online tool. On pricing of your stuff, research in Garage Sale section to get some ideas

APU of iGPU will not increase the FPS of dedicated GPU unless you go for the hybrid crossfire which is only available on few selected low end R7 series GPU, the performance after crossfire might not be able to beat a R9 380X after all so just forget about this.

For RM 500, you better go with new G4560 + H110 mobo (cost the same) or used i3 or even i5 which all of them roll over the performance of the aged A10 7850K.

Thanks for your suggestion! thumbup.gif

I've did some searching but could not find people selling similar hardware such as mine so I could not determine the price. Could anyone provide a rough estimate or guess of how much I should price my old hardwares.
