Would like to ask for suggestions for a new PC build.
I intend to cannibalize off my older PC into the new build to avoid the high costs of GPU these days. I'll make a GPU purchase in a couple of years once the cost stabilizes. So my old PC will become a secondary PC for more basic tasks using the Integrated Graphics.

Old PC
CPU: Intel Core I7 7700
MOBO: ASUS PRIME B250M-A
RAM: GSKill AEGIS 16GB DDR4 2400mhz
GPU: Gigabyte GTX1080 G1 Gaming 8GB DDR5X
PSU: Xigmatek Shogun 700W 80+ Bronze PSU
Case: Sharkoon DG7000-G RED
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD
HDD: WD 2TB Caviar Blue HDD

Components to be ported over :
GPU: Gigabyte GTX1080 G1 Gaming 8GB DDR5X
HDD: WD 2TB Caviar Blue HDD

New PC Request
Budget - RM 5-6k (PC only, no need monitor)
Mainly for gaming and some video editing.
GPU and HDD to be re-used above.
Do not intend to overclock so reference grade is fine.
Plan to go for a higher end GPU, maybe a 3080, in the future so PSU and MOBO should support it.
CPU thinking of Ryzen. Don't think there will be compatibility issues with the GPU?
RAM 32MB preferred.

Mind waiting for Alder Lake instead?  There's not much point buying a dead end platform right now when DDR5 is right around the corner tongue.gif

My thoughts on Alder Lake. CPU wise, it just brings Intel close to par with AMD. I don't expect it to blow AMD out of the water.
And DDR5 will need industry adoption for one or two years post release. And any new tech in going to command a premium price point.

So I think if I wait for Alder Lake, I'm going to pay top dollar for RAM as well as GPU.
Happy to discuss the angle though!

As it is an immediate need, I thought of building the base setup now. And maybe in 2023 when GPU prices normalise (Hopefully) and DDR5 is mainstream, then do the component upgrade.
