[Purpose] Extended monitor

[Hardwares that will be re-use]
CPU: Intel Core i5-6400
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
SSD: Adata 240GB SP500 Premier Pro
HDD: WD 3.5" 1TB Caviar Blue
RAM: Corsair Value Select DDR4 2132 8GB
MBD: Gigabyte H110M-DS2-CF
PSU: FSP Hexa+ 550W 80 Plus
Monitor: 22 Inch LED (details...)

[Games & softwares that use frequently] AAA titles

[Personal preferences] The extended monitor can be several inch smaller or wider. My purpose is one monitor for gaming, another for movies and web browsing.

Side note, need pro advice on my build. Anything seems wrong? Except the fact that my GPU is single fan from ZOTAC which I bought off at RM950

Your build looks okay. Note however that your existing 22" Samsung monitor don't have DVI nor HDMI input. You want to maintain this as your primary? For RM600, your choice will just be main stream 60Hz monitors eg ACER 24" KA241 (RM599). Since your existing Samsung is a 22", you could consider ACER 21.5" KA221Q (RM499). Note that both have DVI and HDMI inputs
*
My existing samsung monitor has been following me since 4 years back, I will put this as secondary, other brands or models that you can recommend? Why only acer?

Side note, not sure how to extend monitor with desktop. It is easy with laptop but I never tried with desktop. Need some reference/guidance

If it works fine, why upgrade? sweat.gif

Probably a new monitor, especially a high refresh rate IPS model if you haven't experienced high refresh rate before brows.gif
*
Any suggestion?

QUOTE(chocobo7779 @ Jul 2 2021, 02:09 AM)
That's not much of an upgrade IMHO, considering the gains are quite minor to say the least icon_idea.gif

It's not worth spending that money changing to another platform that has only 1 proper upgrade as Alder Lake is coming in the next 3 months or so sweat.gif

Even Alder Lake might not be a big upgrade over 9th gen, so the next big upgrade would be a proper DDR5 based platform like Raptor Lake (aka Alder Lake's successor) or Zen 4 (with AM5 platform) icon_idea.gif
*
Actually I got 1k extra here and want to see if there is anything that I can upgrade but considering the extra 3 suggested parts already over-budget

If you need now, jump straight to i7-11700 for real upgrade. i5-11400 got better single thread but just add another 6 threads but no extra cores.
*
I see...

QUOTE(chocobo7779 @ Jul 2 2021, 07:52 PM)
Probably something in the line of the AOC 24G2 should do the trick just fine icon_idea.gif
IMHO your machine is still plenty capable for your use, so keep that money and only upgrade if your current machine no longer meets your usage icon_idea.gif

Thanks for the ideas

RAM, anything branded, Kingston, Corsair, Teamgroup, etc. 16GB x2 3200MHZ
SSD, yours can support Gen3 x4 M2, so the best is Adata SX8200Pro or else Gen4 ie S70 Blade, Legend 960, KC3000, P5 Plus. Go as big as you can afford 1TB or 2TB.

Thanks, I am buying Corsair Vengeance RGB SL Series DDR4 Intel XMP White 2 x 16GB, with lazada discounts over SL store only for RM320
