Hi. Recently my rig went kaput. The specs are:
AMD Athlon 4x 635 Processor Asus M4N68-T Mobo GTX580 GPU(Sent for diagnose) 1TB Samsung HDD 8GB Kingston Hyper fury X Ram 23" Samsung S23a350H (Faulty HDMI port, only VGA available)
I rarely use the PC, less than 10 hours per mth. I may spend more time gaming after the upgrade. My budget is around RM500 to RM1,500 for upgrade. I am thinking of buying a GTX1060 3GB mini but I am afraid that my CPU will substantially bottleneck the GPU. I do not mind used hardware as long as the price is great. PC usage for occasional 1080p DotA 2 gaming. Could any sifu here kindly recommendations or links? Ah, btw before I forget, is it better for me to repair my monitors' HDMI, buy a new monitor or stick with VGA for now? Thanks.

QUOTE(piggy2008 @ Mar 22 2017, 02:11 AM) Hi. Recently my rig went kaput. The specs are: AMD Athlon 4x 635 Processor Asus M4N68-T Mobo GTX580 GPU(Sent for diagnose. Dotting on latest drivers. Blank screen on old drivers. No problem with display when in safe mode or bios or at windows starting screen. I think it may be software issue) 1TB Samsung HDD 8GB Kingston Hyper fury X Ram 23" Samsung S23a350H (Faulty HDMI port, only VGA available) I rarely use the PC, less than 10 hours per mth. Thanks. I came across an AMD A10 7850k and FM2A88X+ Killer selling for RM500. Since my GPU is not working, I was thinking of buying this as a replacement. Is the price and performance any good? I may consider buying the R9 380X tomorrow to combo with this APU. Will the APU iGPU increase the FPS of external GPU? Will there be huge bottlenecks? Sorry, I do not understand much about APU. By the way, if I were to sell all my old hardwares except for HDD and RAM, how much do you think I should price them? The issues with the hardwares are stated above. Thank you in advance. QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Mar 23 2017, 10:57 AM) APU of iGPU will not increase the FPS of dedicated GPU unless you go for the hybrid crossfire which is only available on few selected low end R7 series GPU, the performance after crossfire might not be able to beat a R9 380X after all so just forget about this. For RM 500, you better go with new G4560 + H110 mobo (cost the same) or used i3 or even i5 which all of them roll over the performance of the aged A10 7850K. Thanks for your suggestion! I've did some searching but could not find people selling similar hardware such as mine so I could not determine the price. Could anyone provide a rough estimate or guess of how much I should price my old hardwares. This post has been edited by piggy2008: Mar 23 2017, 12:03 PM

Guys, I think I've lost my mind. I've just purchased a GTX 980 in the middle of the night without thinking straight..., my current specs are:
AMD Athlon 4x635 Asus M4N68-T 1TB Samsung SATA HDD 8GB DDR3 Kingston Hyper FuryX 500W PSU Samsung S23a350H (Only VGA working)
I am expecting huge bottlenecks. Ryzen i5 coming out soon right?

Hi all. I just bought a GTX 980 and I am now deciding on which CPU I should get. The options are:
i5 4460=RM480 i7 4790=RM780
Is the RM300 increase worth it? I am gaming at 1080p. Looking for best bang for buck. Going to buy Asrock H81M-VG4 for RM120 to complete my rig. Thanks.

Hi Sifus,
Just recently sold my old rig to my Company and im planning to buy a new gaming rig. Budget around 2k (less the better) without graphics card. My aim is to achieve the best value per dollar. Casual gamer who plays AAA titles occasionally. I'm currently using XB271HU a 1440p 165hz monitor. Here are my initial thoughts:
CPU: I5-10400f RM630 (Or should I stick with Ryzen 3600? But the price seems to be shooting up) Mobo: No idea. Best value for money and basic should do. GPU: Reusing back my Asus Strix GTX 980 until 3060ti is widely available and at MSRP price RAM: 16GB ram 3200 MHz or 2666MHz? ( no idea which brand) Single channel maybe? ( Planning to upgrade to 32GB in future) PSU: I'm a cheapskate when it comes to this. But any suggestion is welcomed. Casing: Any decent casing will do. Best value. Storage: Reuse
My budget can be increased up to 3k if that is where the sweet spot is. Sifus suggestions and advise is highly appreciated. Thanks!

QUOTE(TristanX @ Dec 3 2020, 09:39 AM) Use high end card and wanna cheapskate PSU? Not happening. Try Core i5-10400F - 609 MSI B460M Bazooka - 479 Pick your brand 8GB DDR4-3200 (runs at 2666) X2 - 278 PNY CS3030 500GB - 339 Adata XPG Core Reactor 650W - 459 Phanteks Eclipse P400A case - 319 Nothing can touch this for a gaming setup AMD Ryzen 5 5600X - 1349 Asus TUF B550M-PLUS - 635 Ok. I think I may consider the 5600x. But...25% increase in performance for double the price. May I know at which shop I can get the price stated above? QUOTE(pcbuilder420 @ Dec 3 2020, 01:07 PM) For me not worth la, that's why I bought ryzen 3600 to tahan itch before upgrading when stock normalise Btw, the 5600x is sold out basically everywhere, and even if it's in stock they will give preference to customers with expensive build obviously. 10400f should suit your needs for a good price. Yah. I think I'll agree with you on that. But dunno if 10400f is available at lowyat for RM609 onot. Cuz sumone say lowyat kosong edi. Dunno kosong on what.
