That's possible. In both occurrences, I had my foot on the brake pedal while adjusting my seating, wearing seat belt, etc. It's possible I may have lifted the feet a bit in the process.
If you don't disengage the parking brake and rely on the electronics, won't it increase the wear and tear to the brakes? Or does the system not apply torque until it has disengaged the parking brakes?

No, it won't increase the wear and tear bro. It was designed that way, so do try it out!

Hmmm, not 100% sure coz never tried to release parking brake while engine still off - But I'm sure it's possible if you turn it on "ACC Mode" by press start stop button twice without pressing on the brake pedal, then press brake pedal while pressing down on the parking brake switch.

If the car is on brake hold, turning off your engine would immediately engage the parking brake automatically - so I'm sure it doesn't need the engine to be turned on to engage / disengage the parking brake. But if you have a flat battery, i'd imagine you're screwed sweat.gif

You're right. There's a delay. I pull parking brake and release the pedal first in N before shifting to P. I believe the automatic parking braking is a supplementary safety feature that's meant to protect us in the event we forget didn't engage the parking brake ourselves.

I normally press the brake pedal fully, start the engine, release the parking brake and drive off. But I noticed the behavior you listed above if I had started to slightly lift the brake pedal -
still pressed, but not fully pressed.

In those situations, I normally just leave the parking brake engaged, wear my seatbelts properly, and press on the accelerator pedal - the car will automatically disengage the parking brake, and drive off[I] biggrin.gif Of course, I can also just press the brake pedal again, and disengage the parking brake, but sometime I just let the electronics do the job.

Yeah it's pretty cool parking brakes dislodge itself on accelerate. I wish the parking brakes would auto engage as well when you open your car door. Like the c200 or new tiguan

Just notice there is a bar on the meter panel with 0, 20 & 40 interval. I guess it is an indicator for fuel economy. Any tips to achieve maximum 40 always? It keep moving between 0 to 40...

The only way you can get maximum 40 for a long time is by driving down a mountain, with either very lightly tapping on the accelerator, or not hitting the accelerator at all brows.gif the best you can do is driving 110-120 on the highway on a consistent basis - you can hit 20km/l easily this way, as long as you're very light footed in keeping those speeds.

True

I don't know any petrol car that can achieve 40km/L yet, hybrid maybe?
