So guys, I noticed a couple of things about my car after a long drive yesterday.
Can anyone help me figure out if it's normal or what's going on?

1. The instrument lighting (HU, Meter cluster, Start Button) all suddenly went to full brightness. This happened during sunset. After about 20-30 mins, it dropped back to the previous brightness, then a while later went all bright again. I can't seem to find any reason it would do that. My instrument brightness sensitivity is set to "Mid". Does this have anything to do with this?

2. The rear view mirror doesn't work during daytime. I tried shining light directly onto the sensor and it didn't darken at all. It did however start working when it was properly dark outside. Does our rear view mirror only work at night? I've used similar technology in other cars and it works all the time, even in bright daylight, if there's reflection of the sunlight from other cars, the mirror would still darken.

3. I know our car is supposed to engage the parking brake when the driver's seatbelt is removed but it there a specific condition for it to work? I found that it doesn't always engage parking brake. Brake hold on the other hand is a godsend. Love it.

4. My dashboard seems to have a tiny defect on it. I really don't like the idea of getting the SC to replace the entire dashboard as from past experiences with other manufacturers, whenever they do something like that, you'll end up with even more problems. What are your thoughts?

5. Looks like the A pillar rattle is there in my car. It wasn't there in the first couple of days but now it's quite prominent. Sigh. I hope they really fix this simple thing at some point.

One more thing, not sure if anyone has tested this, but I used remote engine start yesterday then got into the car a while later and attempted to drive off, forgetting to "start" the car. The engine died the moment I pressed the button on the shift level. Good to know this safety/security feature works. Overall very happy with the car.

A piece of advice for anyone thinking of getting Groovy Sunshades. I got one for the Civic FC. I had it on my previous car and it was such a nice thing to have but now I've noticed the quality has dropped. For Civic FC, it uses magnetic clips that stick on to the door but not all clips are able to reach it. Each shade has at least 1 clip that's not able to reach the door. Something to think about before spending RM350 on these things.

Will do! Which colour did you get bro?
1. That's weird... Mid is the default, which should be ok normally. Did it happen only one time? Or a few times now?
2. It won't darken, but it would be a green tinge. You can try to cover the front sensor (facing the road), and shine a light at the back sensor (facing you).
3. Need to be on brakehold
4. Up to you tongue.gif
5. Simple fix, but need to go to the SC
*
1. Happened a couple of times but only during twilight. Once it was dark, it stopped and went back to normal.
2. Yeah, I only saw the green tinge after it was dark. During sunset it didn't work. I'll try covering the sensors later.
3. Ok. Then I think this one is user issue. tongue.gif
4. Lol.
5. 1k service I'll complain then. Until then volume goes up.

Update: I tried covering the sensor and playing with the mirror. It only works when it's dark outside and the car is not in reverse gear.

I just found another issue. Will bring this up at my 1k service but does anyone else have the same problem? The driver's floor creaks around the left side. You can push on it with your feet and it'll move and creak quite loudly.

Reverse gear confirm it will not darken as a safety measure. Tried covering the front sensor and it still doesn't work?

Never noticed the driver side floor creaking
*
It does work when the sensor is covered. So this means it'll only work when it's dark outside.

And 1 more thing, izit root android phone not able to connect android car play? Because my car show this

Try changing the cable. I had a similar issue and found that one of my spare cable is loose and doesn't work half the time. It works fine for charging but not for AA.

Mine also around 39 PSI originally , am still maintaning.. What do you think is a best pressure ? Maintain 220-240  ?

Beside our door is written 220 la i saw.
*
Checked mine over the weekend. It was a whopping 42-45 psi. Lowered it to 32.5 and the car is much more comfortable now.

you sure its wind noise not tyre noise?
*
The tire noise is really bad. I wonder if it'll improve after changing to PS4. I'm thinking of changing it next year. Really no confidence with these MC5.

To all forum contributors here,
Thank you for the awesome details provided for the car.
Just a quick question, does the sloping off shoulder front seats a nuisance to you?
Will you feel fatigue after long drive? I test drive it and found this is a bit worrying. Thanks!!
*
I was worried about the same before buying the car.
I'm 180cm in height and fairly big size. No issues for me. They got the design just right.
During my test drive I did "feel" the sloping off shoulders a bit but in my own car with the seats adjusted properly, I don't ever feel like there's insufficient support.

does anyone here experience the engine gets louder and vibrates whenever the RPM reaches 2800-3000? because i ve been driving the car more than 9 months and noticed this very often and did not really have the chance to ask you guys here (was busy and kinda forgetful as well). Anyway, the car is very smooth and quiet until the RPM reached 2.8k-3k and can notice the engine gets kinda louder and vibrates.
*
It gets loud and rough. Didn't notice vibrations. It's almost like a jekyl and hyde thing.
At lower RPMs it's so silent and silky smooth...feels like a predator when you're cruising the car park looking for a parking lot. biggrin.gif
But once you press a bit and bring those revs up, it's like a charging bull, nostrils flaring and all.

Do you guys find the alarm has some problem? My car alarm went off randomly numerous time today. Its quite a nuisance.

And i just got my car yesterday. Today i find out theres like lil white spots on my right taillamp which i suspect to be the white paint from the car. Tot it was dust at first and try wipining it off with microfibre cloth but it wouldnt work. What do i do?
*
Was your phone in your car when the alarm went off? I noticed this in my old Vios, for some reason, phones trigger the ultrasonic sensors. So far I've had my car for about 3.5 weeks and no issues with the alarm. It hasn't triggered when parked outside during heavy rain either.

Picking up my black beauty next week.

I've read somewhere in the last version someone mentioned about installing film protection or something at door handles to prevent scratch marks. What's the right term for that? And where can I get that fixed? sweat.gif
*
Welcome to the club bro. Black is absolutely stunning to me, which is why I went for it. My other half says it looks like a black panther hunting it's prey.
The film you're referring to is a door handle insert protection film and you can get it online. Try searching for "door handle protection film" in Lelong...there's quite a few.
I got the Ceramic Pro new car package done on mine which comes with Magnus Pro wrap on the door handle inserts.

Does anyone experience the burning smell coming out from the aircond when accelerate your car? If you drive at constant speed, no burning smell. But when you sudden accelerate, you can smell like something is burning or like in hair saloon.
*
I just experienced this during hard acceleration. In my case it wasn't burning smell but the smell outside. I think the AC system opens the vents to let outside air in. In my case I was driving past an area that's smelly, I think there's a rubbish disposal site nearby and during hard acceleration, the smell came into the cabin.

Thanks bro biggrin.gif

Yea, I found some on Lazada as well. Ordered and waiting for delivery.

How much for the Ceramic Pro wrap you did? Seems like a huge investment
*
It is quite costly but I'm happy with it. The Ceramic Pro package I took is the Silver New Car package. Total cost for Coating, Tinting, Wrap is around RM4400 including GST. For me, it's worth it. Most of the dirt now just falls off the car when I pour water on it....not even using pressure jet, just the hose with my thumb as the pressure regulator.
The window & windscreen, wheels and brake caliper is also coated and they provide free touch up and coating for accessories and repairs.
Overall I think to each his own. For me it's worth it....may not be the same for everyone.

Has your issue been solved? My SC say the floor board needs to be changed. Don't know if it's a good idea. Centre console also needs to be dismantle in this case. sad.gif
*
Nope, hasn't yet. I have an appointment on Monday (13th) to take a look at this.
If they really need to change the floor board then I guess we don't have a choice. I can actually feel something under the carpet that's lifting the floor.
Any indications on how long the repairs will take?

Thanks for the feedback. I'll give that a thought. Is it alright to have the coat done over the window/windscreen tints? Or the coat is thin enough not to cause problems?
