Nvidia Shield.. but then as others have pointed out.. Depends on many factors.. Major of which is the actual hard drive in the device.. So even if your ISP and router is able to give off 1Gbps easy.. if the included HD is slow and or maxes out lower than that.. There's no helping it. Cuz can't read or write faster than its capabilities.

Guys, need recommendation for Android Box. Mainly use for Kodi Quasar, Netflix, Youtube and Music (Tidal and Spotify).

Currently use H96pro+ with Superceleron custom rom, but the box will not play movie smoothly when i stream Kodi quasar and sometimes will freeze and auto restart. Box also occasionally will freeze at the boot loader page and need to restart few time.

Been looking at Himedia Q10pro and Nvidia Shield. Any idea which one suitable for me? Or any other recommendation?

quasar is not a stable apps, I too experience freeze and restart... but i don't think it is as frequent as ur...

FYI q10pro and shield is yesteryear product with little ram,
both not suitable for torrent.
in fact there isn't any box in the market with enuf ram except for htpc...

so... keep ur box

Minix Neo U1 user here.. Heavy Kodi user and almost always Quasar addon.. Zero issues. Key is to get a device that Kodi is known to perform well on and the rest is history. Only downside is the U1 comes with 16GB storage, so after installing a couple apps, you'll be left with about 8GB or so.. So can't play (using internal memory as Quasar storage) p2p files larger than the free space.. Unless, you pair it with a fast (both read and write speeds) larger capacity hard drive. If you use a slower one, yes Quasar will start the buffering at high speed, but this will slowly drop to less than 10Kbps cuz the USB isn't fast enough to handle the required simultaneous read and writes. The U1 can also handle Netflix(SD res cuz non-certifed), YouTube at 4K, and music playback..

If you want to get a Minix, I'd say get the Neo U9-H instead. Want larger ROM device that also handles Kodi decently well (Quasar included)? Get the Mecool M8S Pro L with 32GB ROM. It's quite snappy, though running Android TV OS.

Got budget? My recommendation is that you ditch your current box for a better one.. Buy once and use longterm.. I've been using a Neo U1 for over 2 years now and it's never failed to do what it's supposed to do. Will keep using it till it drops dead (long time from now..Knocks wood..) or I switch TVs and a worthy successor steps forth..

I beg to differ.. Quasar works well if Kodi works well on the device.. Also, the HiMedia Q10 Pro still remains an excellent torrent handler via Quasar (AVFAN can attest to this) and the Nvidia Shield still wipes the floor with all the other boxes. So it's definitely not just a yesteryears' device..

not sure ur fact is correct ?

nvidia shield got 3GB ram, which i suppose quite decent with most of the other box only 2GB
nvidia still support shield with android 8 oreo even tho release on 2015
nvidia pro got HDD inside, or normal 1 can connect HDD and use as interval drive.
nvidia shield still the top no1 performance android box

for torrent, 2/3GB already enough for normal torrent seeding and download.
even my nas with 512MB still able to handle lots of torrents.

I also using H96pro+ here with SCV7, no issue with quasar. Maybe is heating problem for u.

I DIY mod with a fan, maybe that's is the reason I don't have problem with quasar Or movie.
There is 1x I realize my fan not running and it does coz lagging during streaming but the moment I had my fan running no more lagging.


I do have problem with Elementary (quasar alike).

That y i option for Nvidia Shield or Q10 pro but prefer Shield more as i got Nvdia GPU and NAS at home. H96pro+ with superceleron rom really smooth to use, but maybe the ROM not much optimized. Freeze when watching movie really spoil the mood


But i using inside air conditioner Room. Quasar smooth if the download is done or the file is smaller than 5 GB. If those 10GB +- files, most likely will freeze lo. Not much install inside the box as well, only few main apps such as Netflix, youtube, spotify/tidal and Kodi.

Is there any tvbox that provide reliable live sports telecast? Most boxes highlighted dramas, I was recommended evpad 2+ by a friend

Like this, can get the Shield.. Get the larger 500GB version if possible.. Else, you'll have to find a compatible smaller capacity external HD to merge with the 16GB Shield version. Adoptable storage is a bit finicky, last I checked. May have been improved now. This is vital for heavy games installs and Quasar streaming large files.

This is how I setup mine in order to run Unifi Play@tv. It's connected wired but I have enable WIFI on the Android Box. On the WIFI part which is enabled do not connect to your network.

My tvbox just arrived. Tanix tx3 max. Testing it now and play ay before aim for high end tv box. Now i need to know how to backup the current version and apps setting before i screw up the tv box. Please enlighten me.

Screw up and there's always factory reset. Typically, most apps have their own backup feature and if they don't, it's usually ehem apps and those settings don't matter so much.. Cuz they rarely last long and or are easy to re-setup again after a reset. However, should you still insist on a full backup.. There's TWRP.. Use that if supported.

important question buddy...can it play AOTG? If yes then I'll get this one instead.
