QUOTE(jhlou @ Oct 11 2018, 05:28 PM) Mecool is already pre-rooted, though some of us actually hide the root via Magisk to launch some apps example AOTG I'm interested buying MeCool as well. Can you able to provide guide on how to install AOTG on this device. Thanks and appreciate. The box is running Android 7.0 with Google apps pre-installed. There are 2 variants, one is Android 7.0 and another is Android TV version. Selling in shopee, Lazada, 11street. Look for vouchers. |

QUOTE(voncrane @ Oct 29 2018, 04:58 PM) There are plenty other confirmed unrooted devices WITH dedicated ethernet and USB ports. I suggest you look at those instead. I know there is like Minix and Nvidea but they are too expensive for my budget Worth and recommended to use with Minix devices. Though works for others too. Except Minix device dedicated buttons won't work as intended. Been using the Neo A2 Lite airmouse with rechargeable Eneloop batteries. Almost daily usage.. Lasts months easy. I don't expect the upgraded Neo A3 Airmouse to perform any less.. Barring it a lemon unit of course. thanks buddy...appreciate ur advice on this matter. |

QUOTE(StevenL @ Oct 30 2018, 08:26 AM) Haven't you bought the latest mi box? Thanks everyone to feedback on my queries; Basically I'm looking for Unrooted box to play the following:Again, perhaps if you could list your budget, your expectation on using the box, any particular apps, shows that you'd like to have on the box incl if you are willing to pay for subs. That'll give the otai here some idea for recommendation 1. AOTG 2. playtv@Unifi 3. KODI 4. Preferably can play 4K Videos because this is the trend now. |

Guys, seek your advice on this matter; what's the best resolution I need to choose for a 4K TV on Mi Box S? Currently I have setup as automatic and I don't think I'm utilizing the 4K resolution with this option.
Just got a 55inch 4K TV Philips brand. |

QUOTE(voncrane @ Jan 27 2019, 12:02 AM) Probably better to stick with 4K res in the settings.. Cuz then the UI (if supported) & apps like Kodi with support will output at 4K res.. Thanks and appreciate for the advice Chief. I have followed your suggestion and tried few 4k settings option until I found the right one which has no lags when viewing 4K contents on KODI. |

QUOTE(voncrane @ Mar 6 2019, 07:35 PM) I'm happy they specced it out with 4GB DDR4 RAM + 64GB EMMC ROM... This if you ask me should be the minimum or standard for flagship boxes.. Particularly the ROM storage part. Cuz most would want to play games (faster & more energy efficient DDR4 helps greatly here too) and perhaps stream higher bitrate files on it. With 5xGB+ free ROM, it's good. It does look Google certified.. But of course, since the Netflix logo or wordings are missing, I don't think it's Netflix certified too.. Lastly, my major downside on their latest (if not all) boxes is that MeCool still ships out with 100Mbps ethernet ports.. C'mon, Gigabit should be standard d.. Without which it's still hard for me to justify them over Minix. Is it a unrooted box? How to confirm? Thanks Chief. |

QUOTE(voncrane @ Apr 24 2019, 12:58 PM) Nope.. AFAIK.. It isn't compatible with Android TV OS and it does require a properly installed Busybox..Which means, the device must be rooted. Noted with thanks Chief Compatible OS versions: Android 2.3 / 4.0 / 4.1 / 4.2 / 4.3 / 4.4 / 5.0 / 6.0 / 7.0 CPU platforms: ARM (ARM CortexA8 or higher), x86(Atom/i3/i5/i7) Mi Box doesn't not apply to the above. |

QUOTE(voncrane @ Apr 24 2019, 01:20 PM) You are welcome. The MiBox S should be producing good sound and can passthrough some others. If I may ask, why are you interested in installing extra sound mod? For me for some apk's, example Yupptv (tamil programs) and AOTG the default sound comes from my smart TV not loud as per kodi or Netflix. So I wonder if sound/volume booster apk's can help |

QUOTE(voncrane @ Apr 24 2019, 03:32 PM) I see.. Though I have to say that this is my first time reading such report. Makes me wonder, could it be the TV's speakers instead that's the culprit? You turned it up to max volume and still insufficient? Try checking within the app's settings, if it supports external player. Then set Kodi or VLC as the default.. Try.. I'm unsure, cuz never checked.. AOTG probably won't have such option to play via an external player. And I have no issues about loudness and clarity with current and older boxes, but I'm using a Home Theater via HDMI-ARC la.. So different case. Thanks again for your advice...appreciate it a lot chief... Maybe, you could look into investing in some external speaker system? Even a cheap decent 2.1 set will sound much better than the average Smart TV's speakers. Unless mid-high level TVs. Even then, I still advise getting dedicated speakers setup. Depends on your requirements.. Pls see page one first.. Thanks. |
