Haha..Let me rephrase...For PRS...is CIMB ex Japan - Class C performing better than rest in recent 3 yrs?

Probably long term Nav appreciate is much more important than volatility...since it's "long-term" ?

on this question,....For PRS...is CIMB ex Japan - Class C performing better than rest in recent 3 yrs?
looking at the past 3 yrs annualised performance.....YES

but some would says...looking at the past 3 yrs risk reward numbers...not that worth it too.....taking so much risk (100%~450% extra risk/volatility) for just an added 1~2% extra annualised returns

but it is up to individual especially those that stick to the notion that "long term Nav appreciate is much more important than volatility...since it's "long-term"

since those are the PAST/RECENT 3 yrs historical results, I would focus on positioning for the next 3 yrs, hence not the past/recent 3 yrs....
thus i would phrase it as this, if I wanted to seek for the better ROI option..... "For PRS...will CIMB ex Japan - Class C have better chances of performing better in terms of appreciation than rest in recent the next 3 yrs?

thumbup.gif good choices too for diversification....

but do note this part of the frequently published disclaimer by FSM....
"Investment involves risk. The price of securities may go down as well as up, and under certain circumstances an investor may sustain a total or substantial loss of investment.
Past performance is not necessarily indicative of the future or likely performance of the fund. "

I'm really new to this ... So i need your opinions. I've got a few thousand units on Maybank Bosera Greater China and I want to cash out those units ... But when is the best time to cash them out ? Now or should I wait ... It is showing an uptrend and every little penny counts for me as I'm already making a loss on it. What do you guys think ? I'm sorry ... Ultra noob here 😅

if you cashed out of this Maybank Bosera Greater China fund...where do you want to moves the proceed to? which country or region?
which of them got more upside potential than Greater China?

no right or wrong....many would suggest goto where it will makes you sleep better at nights...

no right or wrong.....maybe you had realised now that UT investing is not your forte or suits you....

The best time to cash out is when you plan / need the money.

1) UT is long term (above 7 years ) with every year to rebalance your portfolio. And every 3 years, comparing your UTfunds against the peers.

2) The underlying assets of equity UT are shares. We gain from the upward movement of share price. There is a historical long term tendency to reverse to the mean returns. One cannot think like interest bearing assets where every period there are percentage gains. If you sell now and buy again when there is a higher uptake trend, you are not only incurring the sales charges, but also already missed out the upward movement of shares and realising the paper losses. Also where else can you invest in?

3) did you only invest in one UT fund? How about bond funds like rhb income fund 2, am dynamic etc? How about other region like the US, Europe and Asia?

4) do you have a financial investment plan?

I was planning for short-term investment ... But I see now that it's not a good idea for that . I had extra cash and I'm still a student. I saw that UT was the easiest way I could place my cash from Maybank.... So that's what I did. On the other hand ,I had parked my money in FD and it just got uplifted. Now I'm not really sure what to do with the money ...i saw CIMB's 4.4% Unfixed Deposit , most probably gonna put there .

I'll answer no.4 first so u get an idea of answers for the remaining question .... No plan hahaha . I just had extra cash ... And I wanted to learn something new ( guess i learnt it the hard way ) ... And tbh , I like everything just being online so that's why I chose UT and since it was extea cash , i decided to go for high risk ratings.

3) Luckily not ... I've invested in TA Global aswell ... I really didn't look into other funds tbh. After a quick lookup ... I see that those are low risk funds that gradually show a upward trend.

2) Where else can I invest in ? Well what I was thinking is that to redeem this Maybank units and leave the TA Global units and put the money either in FD or something else. I actually wanted to cash out because I saw a downward trend everytime December comes ... I'm not sure though thats why I asked you guys 😅

1) I dont think I have that much money to 'rebalance' . The only problem I see in UT is the sales charge. It is really quite high ( through Maybank ) and to see the money reach its initial investment amount already takes much time...

Is there any advice would you like to give me as a student where I could maximize my savings and earn some income while doing it ?
I have enough to place FD but what do i do with the extra cash ? Is ASB a good option ? But if I'm not mistaken , you have to be working or must be guaranteed but I don't want other people to be involved in my investment.😅

Thanks guys for the quick reply.

Don't correct first. Faster rally in December.
Let's dispose by end of December then start to correct in January 2019.
