Guys, i'm going to give up my Intel platform now as shown in my siggy below. The damn motherboard failed me twice and now 3rd time again with 3/4 RAM isn't able to detect my RAM overnight and now i'm stuck with single 16GB stick.

So now i make my mind to AMD Ryzen 9 5900x, can you guys recommend me a good motherboard for that?
Mobo can stretch until RM2k max, preferred <RM1500.

I will only change CPU and Mobo to AMD platform, the rest of the items on my siggy will be reused.

Requirement:
1. Good VRM cooling
2. Adequate OC capability (AMD is not OC friendly anyway)
3. Good reliability (not the damn Gigabyte anymore)

I have no experience in AMD world, please recommend me. SUPER URGENT.
Meanwhile i will do my own research as well, just that your suggestion can help me nail down much quicker.

So you recommend B550 rather than X570.

Most B550 only have two M.2 slot, just wonder what option i have if i going to add 3rd drive?

As for X570, all come with chipset active cooling which is a big concern for me.
It seems in AMD camp the CPU is superior but chipset wise, hmm...

Then u wait for upcoming new motherboards with x570s chipset which is fanless, for example new Aorus Master
Or Asus Crosshair VIII Dark Hero, although it is still using old X570 chipset but Asus managed to eliminate the chipset fan without sacrifice the cooling performance.

Haha, Gigabyte no thanks. I blow away by the Aorus Master performance price ratio, i really love its features and design, but search online, bunch of problem in either Intel and AMD, as for my case now i'm going to RMA for 3rd time, no way, phobia already.

Yes this is good, if you don't mind it has only 2x m.2 slots. But this can be solved with 2x large capacity nvme ssd.

This one come with Hyper M.2 x16 Gen 4 Card which can house additional 4 M.2 drive, so basically solve my concern.

After so many years, finally...

get 2 nvme 2tb and 1 ssd 2tb above is more then enough.
for 2tb nvme you better bought from USA is much more cheaper.

make sure you read the fine prints properly in each manual and make sure you count the lanes in the schematics if there is one. But sadly some board wont mention it at all so pray hard . last time I populate the slots and my GPU end up running at 8X. Then got another board some sata ports got disabled. Then another board the USB ports got disabled. .
this is cuz AMD uses PCIE lanes for all of these ports and are shared between the CPU and chipset and board makers all do funny configurations.

And also keep an eye on the bios versions because the USB bug is not entirely fixed, just become not so frequent and lurking. Tends to likely strike people who utilize multiple gen4 devices.

i saw some ppl reported the usb disconnected intermittently after raise the flck above 1900.

Yeah, i suspect the usb disconnect is heavily related to the infinity fabric that is related to the pcie lanes. Can only guess because AMD didnt want to disclose what was the cause lol. Only mentioned that they fixed it but as usual, it's not a full fix and so to those still affected have to wait for new bios forever like we wait for mco phase2 opening forever.

I've tried every FCLK strap from 1600mhz to 2000mhz over the last 6 months on Zen 3, not a single time USB has dropped. Don't only read the bad news, because the bad news are always the ones that make the most noise.

lucky for your cpu+mobo+bios combination.

Yes this is normal practice, no need to pray, even my Giga Aorus Master on Intel platform did that so is not AMD only.
