But my z490 board doesnt show these behaviors. while both b450 and B550 have.

Had to leave some USB ports empty on my AMD else all the ports will go haywire. using a powered hub tends to work better than plugging into multiple usb port on the rear i/o.

MSI b450i gaming plus AC, Gigabyte B550i pro AX

Ryzen 3600, corsair SF750.

To be frank, it's a toss up.

Back on Intel system, whenenver I connected an external HDD my wireless logitech K400 would go insane and have a massive amount of lag/drop connection although funny enough other wireless devices like the Xbox controller and Logitech GPro mice is fine.
Connecting an external HDD will also cause DPC latency to spike to insane levels, so audio data streams crackles due to loss in data packets. This hasn't happen on AMD IME.

Both platforms has issues.

Agreed. just this time on my AMD, it's gotten too ridiculous... to the point that i might as well just not use my pc at all, as you can recall at the nvidia tered, After swapping out the 3080, my pc gotten even more unstable that i just left it off for 2 months

A lot of it has also gotta do with wintrash. These issues seldom happen over on Linux or Mac, no matter the hardware used.

Think I just discovered the reason the random blue screen and sometime reboot without bluescreen.
I overloaded my PSU. laugh.gif
I forgot I replugged my GTX 970 back into 5950x mainboard.......and the psu is Seasonic M12 520W PSU..... sweat.gif
Gotta purchase proper PSU next time. For now, 95W eco mode.
Still need to figure out what is going on the voltage.
Anyone with Zen 3 CPU here can check their CPU Core Voltage (SVI2 TFN) using HWinfo and mainboard model?
I wonder if this is specific to Zen 3.  hmm.gif
*
My 5900x does go down to 1.08-1.1v during idle. By idle I really do mean absolutely ZERO process happening. I have to kill RTSS, Afterburner, iCUE and LGS for that to work.

On my 3900x, it was hovering around 1.28-1.35v on idle.

AMD says a BIOS fix for the USB issue is coming in April... I wonder what the "fix" really entails?

Hope it's not nerfing PCIE-4.0.

After reading all these posts about the idle voltage,  just checked my 3700x with ryzen master, it is around 0.2 - 0.5v during idle. hmm.gif

It seems to be affecting Zen 3 more than Zen 2. JohnLai isn't the only one having high idle voltage.

JohnLai I forgot to ask, what version is your HWInfo? 6.42 and before has a bug that it polls the CPU more than it should (even if you set a very long delay in the settings) and that actually doesn't allow the CPU to go into idle. This seems to be fixed with the latest 7.00 release.

Just want to let you Zen 2 guys know that despite Nvidia not listing 3000 series CPUs as compatible with ReBAR, it is actually in fact compatible and working.

TSMC reported to have increase silicon price at 25% by the end of this year.

Should I grab 5600X @ RM1599 (RM200 above MSRP) right now???

This is a sad year for PC enthusiasts.
EDIT:

I also want to blame AMD for not keeping MSRP Ryzen 5 Zen3 as previous Zen2 (5600X is twice the price as 3600).

Now 3600 used also sells like new set.
*
If you're only looking around the 5600x price bracket, then you shouldn't be looking at AMD to begin with. A 10900f can be had for roughly the same price and that's a better CPU than the 5600x.
If all you're doing is mostly gaming, a 10700f can be had around the RM1.1k point.

On AMD, IMO you either go big or go home due to the price scalping. So 5900x is the minimum since Intel has nothing to compete with it up here.

Make sure to use double fans for DH15. Some people only use single fan due to RAM clearance issue.

Can you turn on power saving mode on your board and see how much power it consumes on idle from the wall socket? Keep these apps on

Browser with 5 tabs
Music player
Steam
Battle.net
Epic Games Launcher

Mine drinking 120-150W.

Thanks. About the same power consumption.
After 54 mins video with 9900K using PowerDVD at 1080p, 11W average on the CPU.

Completely nuked every existence of iCUE, armory crate and uninstalled uplay.

Using my usual idle apps:

Chrome (7 tabs)
Discord (4 servers)
Music player (music bee)
Steam
GOG Galaxy

Managed to pull down total system power consumption to 98-105w. Still not as low as previous 3900x though, that one was usually in the 70s.

Zen 3 does have trash idle power management for sure.

But on the other hand, it doesn't become a nuclear power plant when you load it to 100% unlike CML and RKL.

Finally trying out AGESA 1.2.0.2, bios rev 3501 on Asus Crosshair 8 Hero.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

This is the best AGESA release for Zen 3, period. Now, time to go back to 2000mhz IF.

Better be safe than sorry. AGESA is too complex, it's better for them to take their time and test everything out rather than release a broken update. This is after all the last major AGESA release for Zen 3.

Just to update.. seems after upgrade to latest bios for MSI x570 tomahawk WiFi ; I don't get random BSOD

so all these while it's not cpu issue.. most ppl complaint whea error and rma the CPU... But most likely it is because driver issue on AGESA

Can be a combination of many things. One of the frustrations of Ryzen is that it's difficult to pin point the exact problem.

Already fixed since AGESA 1201 Patch A.

Those complaining still not fixed need to check their devices instead.

Yesterday I just backed up 10TB worth of movies to a new drive, went without a hitch. Held speed at 150+MB/s constant, which is much better than before where it would fluctuate from 30 to 100MB/s.

Those aren't caps. It's just a ferrite magnet to potentially minimize EMI (which is arguable that it even works in the first place).
