just let it be if you have no intention of using custom rom or rooting. It is more secure that way.

I played around and rooted my previous Samsung J5, got Cyanogenmod on it. Then accidentally deleted ori google keyboard. I'm such a klutz.
With this RMN3 I don't think I wanna play around with it laugh.gif it works fine

True, will see how long i "tahan".

On the bright side, this N3 battery life are so much better compare to my previous Note 2. Overnight just drop 2-3% compare to 10% on my N2

Well, i did not install any apps that controls screen brightness recently. But it got me thinking and this is what I have found:
- i boot into safe mode, and sure enough NO so such problem
- reboot phn, go directly into installed apps, tried stopping some apps which I do not know and uninstall the last app that I installed
- last app that i installed was a skin for poweramp player
- force stop these two apps i do not recognize: (a)KLO Bugreport, (b)mab, 33.16MB

Later, after google search, I think it is safe to restart KLO Bugreport, but for mab. Seems everyone have it but not sure what it is.

I also change the theme back to default. However, I have tried this before and it did not help previously.

So if it is the poweramp skin?? But then, I only downloaded it, and have not even applied the skin and I started to get this problem with the screen brightness. And now out of sudden, it went away, it is back to normal now. I'm still clueless.

Just to confirm this, if we get the new 8.2 update, we can't use the previous SuperSU file to root, right?

I think after root, the system will detect it, so when OTA comes, it will mostly download full sized rom instead of incremental. Updating via full sized rom most likely will lost root & custom recovery.

Not sure about ZXC Twrp as the feature lists state that it can update official miui ota.

Correct me if I'm wrong biggrin.gif

previously when phone is still in lollipop, I do get OTA update alert eventhough i am rooted. However, it failed to apply and the updater then ask for full rom update. So I unroot the phone and then run the full rom update to marshmallow. Now that it is in marshmallow, I have never got the OTA alert. I think it is probably something to do with the way it is rooted. Maybe not. Don't really care as long as the phone is working fine. I will wait for 8.2 to update and probably also wait until root is available and tested to be working.

Root should be working with current latest global stable as long as you have a working TWRP.

Try reinstall the ROM using fastboot method (clean_all) via Mi Flash might get your OTA working again. biggrin.gif

Changed new 3rd party battery with exact fitting. DIY it and is quite simple.
Original battery bloated after 3 months usage since purchased. So far so good for the new battery endurance.

nah..don't want to reinstall all my stuffs. Too tedious. I am not those who are so pressed on upgrade to latest firmware. As long as phone have no problem, it is not so important to upgrade minor versions.

That's why I was laughing at those people who keep on shouting and scolding in xiaomi forum about the marshmallow upgrade. Then when they eventually release the upgrade next they complain is battery drain and firmware problem and so on.

Why didnt you claim warranty? This seems to be manufacturer issue

Anybody got their touchscreen part replaced or fixed?

I dropped my rn3 on the toilet and touchscreen doesn't work anymore.

I already dried it out for a couple of days and also replaced the battery. Its turning on fine, but cannot use it.

Service center might be costly.

I also bought a RN4 since I needed a phone hehe

Is a AP set, seller does not want to bear the responsibility and claimed that the phone is a non removable type, cannot be opened (they only know how to sell, don't even know the tech).
Since just few dollars for the battery, nvm.
