This device is nowhere found in Mi store China but yet Taiwan is still selling it. Although Taiwan store is still selling it, only Kate is available. Kenzo used to be available but not now. There's no reason for them to take down the listing while still producing.
*
yup..it make sense. Cause why would they want to product kate and kenzo when kate have all the features of kenzo and more? So it make business sense to only produce kate.

it's kate mostly all MY warranty right now. kenzo import set no stock in g5. I really don't see the point paying more for warranty, unless you're in Indonesia where only local warranty phone can use 4g.

i agree. I am the kind of person that prefer to buy from authorized resellers. However, in the case with xiaomi, the difference is cheaper by more than 100 for a phone that cost 700. That is a like 15% which is a lot.

Plus since it is so cheap, i guess I hurt less if unable to claim proper warranty. So far I have send warranty to the AP supplier and they seems to be professional about handling warranty. Though mine is only a fix by flashing the ROM, they still did it for me without issue.

I have a colleague who bought from xiaomi malaysia previously. In the span of less than 1 year, the phone already spoil twice. Eventhough the warranty is pretty fast, it is still a hassle and after second warranty, he bought another phone.

why you flash to global rom? You should be flashing it to china dev rom.

global stable rom definitely cannot unlock bootloader.

global dev rom....maybe can.

china dev rom...SURE can. If your kate don't have china dev then I don't know. Any other kate users successfully unlock using global dev rom?

try go to the last page and follow what this guy did:

I had the same issue. But today finally i was able to unlock.
What i did was i installed to latest Global Developer rom.
Still i couldn't unlock. Then after few day i tried to unlock on my friends window 7 pc.
I just downloaded the mi unlock tool from mi unlock page. Signed in using phone no. Then Plugged my device in fastboot mode. Let the windows download driver. When drivers are install click Unlock button. Now i have unlocked Redmi Note 3.

Note that you should have oem unlock & usb debugging on. And only one device i mi cloud.

Also don't worry about the Mi Unlock Status in developer mode. That never worked for me. Always gave 'couldn't verify, try again' error. Still was able to unlock.

And DO NOT flash using kenzo rom. It will brick the phone.

no need to be so harsh la. people just asking nicely what.
*
not everyone look at hardware specs only in a phone. Apart from the slight SoC and GPU downgrade, it is actually quite a decently better phone. Design is much better and camera has been improved. Anyway from reading this article, I think it is not a good upgrade/downgrade.

wow..only 4 months battery already bloated. How many times do you charge your phone per day? Or just keep it plugged in and pull out only when traveling?

then its user issues lor..

seriously I never had such issues although been using almost a year now.. sweat.gif
*
i agree..it's user issue. To get the phone bend like that means the user is very rough and never use case. Mine is still in very good condition. However, it is confirmed that redmi note 3 have very thin back cover. The metal they use is low grade which can bend easily. That's why the phone is cheap.

Nope. It was charge half way then it can't charge anymore
I do see quite a number of complaints online regarding rn3 can't charge
*
I had this issue one day while I was charging. Then I check the phone and it is super hot!! Luckily I discover it and quickly unplug the cable. After some tests, I conclude that the head of some micro usb are too short. The ori xiaomi cable's micro usb is slightly longer if you compare with others. So it works without issue on that cable. However, since then it works again using the same cable.

what... no ver8.2 yet? only Version: V8.1.3.0.MHRMIDI (MIUI8) ??!!
8.1.1.0 update to 8.1.3.0... aduh

i am happy that they continue to update and fix firmware issue. A lot of other china brand, they seldom update after the phone is released. Also RN3 is one of their top seller. So if they don't continue to update this phone a lot of people will make noise. Especially Indians where they sold over 2.3 million units. You know how noisy Indians can be....

Take this case I have for example,
When I just bought the RN3, it was running firmware 7.x (android lollipop). I remember really disliking it because a few of the apps that I use does not work properly. Apps like instragram or musical.ly and others that uses camera refuse to load or some have dark camera and crashing and so on. After the upgrade to Marshmallow, it was a 180 degree turn for me. Those apps start to work properly and a LOT LESS random crashes. If you were using something like BLU or coolpad or elephone you won't have updates that frequent. Heck probably normal update only but no upgrade to new android version.

Plus the advantage of having a popular phone like RN3 with snapdragon SoC, you will get a lot of third party firmware from XDA developers.

strange that my rn3 still in 8.1.1.0 and no alert on updates. Maybe I wait a bit more. Right now i am satisfied with 8.1.1.0 and don't want to spend time doing the root again.

just let it be if you have no intention of using custom rom or rooting. It is more secure that way.

I think after root, the system will detect it, so when OTA comes, it will mostly download full sized rom instead of incremental. Updating via full sized rom most likely will lost root & custom recovery.

Not sure about ZXC Twrp as the feature lists state that it can update official miui ota.

Correct me if I'm wrong  biggrin.gif
*
previously when phone is still in lollipop, I do get OTA update alert eventhough i am rooted. However, it failed to apply and the updater then ask for full rom update. So I unroot the phone and then run the full rom update to marshmallow. Now that it is in marshmallow, I have never got the OTA alert. I think it is probably something to do with the way it is rooted. Maybe not. Don't really care as long as the phone is working fine. I will wait for 8.2 to update and probably also wait until root is available and tested to be working.

Root should be working with current latest global stable as long as you have a working TWRP.

Try reinstall the ROM using fastboot method (clean_all) via Mi Flash might get your OTA working again.  biggrin.gif
*
nah..don't want to reinstall all my stuffs. Too tedious. I am not those who are so pressed on upgrade to latest firmware. As long as phone have no problem, it is not so important to upgrade minor versions.

That's why I was laughing at those people who keep on shouting and scolding in xiaomi forum about the marshmallow upgrade. Then when they eventually release the upgrade next they complain is battery drain and firmware problem and so on.

I set to India 2 weeks ago ,  and get updated to 8.1.6.0.. yup , I also just uninstall the India applications. I think the latest 8.2.1.0 rom got some problem , so Xiaomi pull out for now.
*
well...for those who have updated to 8210, is there any problem?
