i have used digi edge before, and here are my thoughts on that:
1. relatively wide EDGE coverage in major towns in malaysia. speed varies from crawling 5k/s to 20 k/s. The speed is rather inconsistent, fluctuates a lot, dependent on your area also. During peak hours, you will be given only 1 timeslot, so your speed will be 'throttled' to 5k/s. 2. horrible ping : 550ms to 700ms during non peak hours to 800ms - 1200ms during peak hours. so forget about dota and online gaming. 3. bad ip address management. Digi conveniently puts all its Edge users under 2 global ip address. thousands of digi users will be given an internal ip address (10.x.x.x). this could post a problem to p2p , and certain website bars multiple connection from a single IP, for example dalnet in MIRC. forget about rapidshare also. 4. despite all these, I have to say Digi Edge is very STABLE. very little downtime. and there is no limit to the amount of data you could download/upload a month. |

from my personal opinion, i think Digi should lower their rates for this EDGE. As far as we could see now other operators (celcom 3G) already offer RM8/day, unlimited use.
As far as im concern, i still prefer Digi's EDGE rather than 3G or 3.5G. This is because 3G receptions in my place (Mutiara Damansara) is not really stable. But with Digi, i could get constantly about 150kbps - 250kbps. Its enough for me to surf the internet and send my business emails. |
