i'm also a DiGi EDGE user for 4 month now. Satisfied with the performance although sometimes the speed depends on area and time that you use it. Using 6230i also as a modem. Maybe for those that are interested can find out other phone model that support higher download speed since 6230i only support up to 230++kbps only.

bear in mind though that rm99/month is without the 5% tax. so you're maybe paying rm103.95 at least.

I was digi edge users, it was good but the only bad thing about it is users will be given internal ip address, which makes it hard to bit torrent effectively and also to log in IRC servers. and bad pings (500-700ms)

other than that it rocks.

i have used digi edge before, and here are my thoughts on that:

1. relatively wide EDGE coverage in major towns in malaysia. speed varies from crawling 5k/s to 20 k/s. The speed is rather inconsistent, fluctuates a lot, dependent on your area also. During peak hours, you will be given only 1 timeslot, so your speed will be 'throttled' to 5k/s.

2. horrible ping : 550ms to 700ms during non peak hours to 800ms - 1200ms during peak hours. so forget about dota and online gaming.

3. bad ip address management. Digi conveniently puts all its Edge users under 2 global ip address. thousands of digi users will be given an internal ip address (10.x.x.x). this could post a problem to p2p , and certain website bars multiple connection from a single IP, for example dalnet in MIRC. forget about rapidshare also.

4. despite all these, I have to say Digi Edge is very STABLE. very little downtime. and there is no limit to the amount of data you could download/upload a month.

mobile "broadband" war started... sweat.gif  sweat.gif

don't forget maxis Rm68 too, 384kbps (T&C) sweat.gif  sweat.gif

good thing on digi 2nd sim Rm33  thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif

btw, i'm using digi mobility package too, for 12 months subscription.  biggrin.gif

so far DL around 20-22KB/s

I dont think Digi network is as congested as Celcom, therefore we can get a fairly good speed with EDGE.

I am guessing this offer didnt come earlier because digi was in the midst of their mobility fiesta, and certainly caught off guard by Celcom and maxis slashing their prices. As soon as the mobility fiesta ends, digi slashed their EDGE.

I used digi broadband b4 switching to celcom bb..frankly at that time digi is the best package at RM99 unlimited and the only lacking is the speed but somehow reliable..currently celcom bb not the best in the world but their 3G coverage is the best.. I feel digi is price their package around Rm40 to compete with celcom and maxis since digi speed is a bit slower...
*
RM66 is a reasonable pricing. Who knows digi may supplant this RM66 with 3G offering next year. (rumours have it that TIme and DIgi are coming up with something). rclxms.gif

however, it will be nice if Digi gives out global Ip address to all its users.

I don't know how to say, just 1 thing that i know is Edge speed is average 128kbps. You are in telco line, you should know Edge is slower then 3G, how come you claimed that digi is faster than maxis or celcom.

Regarding Limitation, i am using digi plan, celcom, and maxis, so far never found any limitation on DOWNLOAD AND UPLOAD.

Lastly, EDGE, 3G and HSDPA, you still need to study more............
good luck

Forgot to mention something, just check definition of broadband, broadband mean the speed must be more than 384kbps.
*
EDGE can reach 384kbps also. I thought broadband is defined as any connection more than 128kbps?

Digi is going to change the landscape for 3G services in malaysia soon. Now digi has 3G, and is working with Time for wimax.

Techinically, Digi can full force go into broadband market in malaysia already. hu hu, maxis should be very worried!

yup,i know that. digi is more stable and reliable on their promotion and advertisement.

i suggest digi should lower the monthly fee to attract others that use wireless broadband change to DiGi, 'always the smarter choice'. rclxm9.gif

this call market strategy.

i'm very happy use digi edge.

actually i'm studying at alor gajah. town that not cover 3G signal for maxis and Celcom. digi edge make me can connect to internet.  thumbup.gif

now, most of my frenz here apply for diGi edge. rclxm9.gif .

at first they all ignore my words that say digi edge is the smarter choice to connect to internet.

after a several testing wif my buddy that say maxis BB and Celcom BB is the best , they shocked wif my digi edge connection here.

even digi not very fast, but they tell truth in the promotion. connect at EDGE speed. and very stable.  5 of my frenz will apply it tomorrow at digi specialist shop at mahkota parade melaka.

tq digi. 'always the smarter choice'

juz my 2 cents story... smile.gif
