Hi mate. Im buying back mate 8. After all its chinese version. Possible to flash the firmware to malaysia/global version? Or will it have any problem?
*
Why not get the Malaysia version? I am unsure if the Malaysia model and the Chinese model uses the same firmware type. I do know that Mate 8 have different kind of firmware for different model. Malaysia Mate 8 model is NXT-L29.

Doubt so. They already gave us Nougat upgrade from Marshmallow. If they do support Oreo upgrade then I will stick to Huawei forever lol rclxms.gif .

Battery as a good as EMUI 4?
For me EMUI 5 standby battery drain is bad 5-6% over 7 hours overnight. Google services drain battery during standby.
Occasionally, apps will hang & need to force close which never happen on old firmware.

Will upgrade tonight & see how it goes?

Sometimes I really can't tell if the new firmware really drain more battery or due to my aging battery. Now my sot only in the range of 3-4 hours compared to last time 6-7 hours

Noticed few new feature added on B589

1. Camera added moving picture mode
2. Apps Twin is working on 3rd party launcher now (Nova & MIcrosoft)
3. New app - Quik (Gopro video editing)

Google services still drain battery during standby, will try to remove some unuse google email account & test.

Obviously it is hardware issue lo, you might need to send warranty again. I think huawei giving free services for this month.

If you think the battery is swollen, then definitely yes.

Before I used this phone, I was using Sony Xperia Z1 and one day suddenly the screen cracked at a corner and I thought I knocked it somewhere so I go and replaced it. However 2 weeks later and the same crack happened at the same location. That time I realized the battery is very likely swollen and put a pressure on the screen glass.

For my Huawei Mate 8, I did not noticed any swollen yet though.
