So, the usage counter limit can only be reset by swiping the card physically?
It's not like a daily limit and automatically reset by itself?

i have a question. when we make a payment using samsung pay on newer nfc type machine, does it somehow will try to contact our phone through data?

I tried once in Watson's Queensbay Mall, transaction not successful with Host Not Available message. But when I tried in another pharmacy right beside it, it works just fine. I am suspecting data because the location of the cashier in Watson might be in too deep, Celcom's data is known to have problem in that side.

this is how samsung pay work

Samsung Pay "server" somewhere, generate token, sync with your phone for the token.

if you are online, it will constantly sync new token with you.

when you use Samsung pay while you are online, it will use the latest token, and bank would verify with Samsung Pay server somewhere for the Virtual Card info + token validity

if you use Samsung Pay offline, and used your last newest token, the phone would generate a mini token for next transaction.

Samsung Pay server know what is the phone next new mini token, but allow for several offline transaction only.
something like HSBC offline bank token.

unless watson credit card terminal no connection to bank, then it cannot verify your samsung pay .

what do you mean by terminal having no connection to bank??? does it mean the terminal itself is offline? if that's the case, then it couldn't be because I can use paywave just fine on that terminal using same card I registered in Samsung Pay...

perhaps, just some technical error on that day only...

yeah~

just one of the possibility.

But if i am not mistaken, credit card terminal can actually work offline....for certain transaction.

below video for your reference.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

if PIN or verification required, it needs to be online.

i recall one of my senior colleague transaction, before 1 July, he forgot or didn't set the pin properly, the merchant somehow manage to bypass the terminal and accept the card without pin verification.( by default if you slot in the card, it will prompt you the pin request even before 1 july)

the signature thing is just for bank as a proof or reference in case got dispute, merchant don't need to claim fund using credit card receipt, it is automatically credited into merchant account after x days, if i am not mistaken.

note, that is before 1 july.

Cashier punching wrong button to initiate SPay...

Not all cashing machines are programmed the same with CC terminals... if cashier key in wrong info at cashing machine, the CC terminal won't recognize SPay ...

Watsons pharmacy is in my "SPay Blacklisted List" due to instability of the cashing machines and cashier reliability to initiate SPay...

Out of all vendors in Malaysia, I discovered that Watsons success rate to use SPay is about 50-50....

Summore, certain Watsons retailers forcing minimum of RM10 or RM50 in order to use credit cards. No synchronization between various branches of Watsons. However, Watsons at Sunway Pyramid does not have minimum purchase...

Avoid Watsons unless the promo price is a steal and standby cash or physical card if SPay is unsuccessful...

Other vendors success rate based on my 9 months usage of SPay:
1) Petronas = 100%
2) Shell = 50%
3) Guardian = 100%
4) Caring = 100%
5) Giant = 100%
6) Tesco = 75%
7) MyDin = 25%
8) Jaya Groceries = 100%
9) Cold Storage = 100%
10) McD = 100%
11) Chicken Rice Shop = 100%
12) Carl's Jr = 100%
13) Others = 50%

When u say shell or petronas did u use at counter or machine by your car

The rates are for both MST and NFC... of course I don't have the "diligence" to segregate between these two...

All gas stations I pay at the walk-in counter....

That makes sense to do so as you need to access to the card terminal.
Not sure if it holds for BHP.

Chances of triggering error is higher if the terminal cannot segregate the signal properly, eg..... The terminal would read 2 consecutive card info, combine it and thus making it like invalid card

Especially old model terminal that also have nfc feature
