Store name/location: McDonalds Setia Pearl, Penang
Nfc/non nfc terminal: NFC
Success/fail: Success

Store name/location: Aeon Queensbay Mall

Success/fail: Success

Store name/location: Coffee Bean Queensbay Mall
Nfc/non nfc terminal: NFC
Success/fail: Success

Store name/location: Samsung Service Centre E-Gate Penang
Nfc/non nfc terminal: Non-NFC
Success/fail: Didn't actually try, the rep says still cannot use because tokey dont want to upgrade machine, kedekut (his word, not mine). But the machine is actually pin capable, so I reckon they can actually accept Samsung Pay but I am not in the mood of trying... Though, Samsung rep can't use Samsung own service? funny...

i have a question. when we make a payment using samsung pay on newer nfc type machine, does it somehow will try to contact our phone through data?

I tried once in Watson's Queensbay Mall, transaction not successful with Host Not Available message. But when I tried in another pharmacy right beside it, it works just fine. I am suspecting data because the location of the cashier in Watson might be in too deep, Celcom's data is known to have problem in that side.

this is how samsung pay work

Samsung Pay "server" somewhere, generate token, sync with your phone for the token.

if you are online, it will constantly sync new token with you.

when you use Samsung pay while you are online, it will use the latest token, and bank would verify with Samsung Pay server somewhere for the Virtual Card info + token validity

if you use Samsung Pay offline, and used your last newest token, the phone would generate a mini token for next transaction.
Samsung Pay server know what is the phone next new mini token, but allow for several offline transaction only.
something like HSBC offline bank token.

unless watson credit card terminal no connection to bank, then it cannot verify your samsung pay .

what do you mean by terminal having no connection to bank??? does it mean the terminal itself is offline? if that's the case, then it couldn't be because I can use paywave just fine on that terminal using same card I registered in Samsung Pay...

perhaps, just some technical error on that day only...
