Well AR59GU owner here, yeah AR series were discontinued by sony mid of 2008 and replaced by AW series which are a few k cheaper than AR series. But i do believe that quality comes with a price therefore cheaper price from same the same manufacturer for the same product can only produce 2 possibility which are either they cut their production cost or cheaper hardware components were used in the newer models.

i see sony upgraded their cs series model frm cs 16g & cs 13g to cs 26g and 23g . new color included for higher specs. Nude Beige

price good, but the warranty its not cover by Sony Asia (Malaysia region) for this model.

i'll say its a good deal. the upgrade its actually worth. better cpu, more gpu memory while the price remain the same as previous version.

My CS 16G tend to be on the 'Warm'side. I's not very comfy putting on your lap.

you have to understand that its built with nvidia gpu. having dedicated gpu tend to have heat especially those nvidia card.

O i C! Then again, i just discovered that mine's battery cover is on the loose side. Is this normal?

The battery of my cs16 also abit loose, try to lock the battery up. it is normal i guess

its 1 year with additional 3 month (once register at the sony malaysia website) for computer peripherals.

sony extended warranty for vaio rate (depending on price range):
2 years warranty:
1. RM1 ~ RM4000 : RM280
2. RM4001 ~ RM6000 : RM330
3. RM6001 ~ RM9000 : RM450

3 years warranty:
1. RM1 ~ RM4000 : RM350
2. RM4001 ~ RM6000 : RM430
3. RM6001 ~ RM9000 : RM650

* no warranty rate list for vaio range RM9001+. you have to contact sony regarding the warranty price (For vaio AW series).
** this warranty is cover for local, not international warranty.
*** for international warranty, kindly apply: VAIO Overseas Service (VOS)

luckily i knew them.. got myself free extra 1 year warranty!!
And i bought another 1 year for RM200.. (FW35G) cost me RM4000..

Who gave the extra one year? The dealer i guess! Not from Sony for sure.

sony card member does have one extra year of warranty, like my vaio, i got my 3 years warranty for less than RM50, sony member card give me one year, my sony point can redeem for another year for less than RM50. and of course it is by sony.

Err.. i don't buy from dealer.. got straight from SONY MD himself..
He's the one who ask me to wait for the latest model.. great guy but very quiet person..

VAIO Roadshow going on in Low Yat. Started today....new cs & fw models...the fellas told me just launch late last week

Tested the Vaio P today, the cheaper one. Certainly very classy! It was slow though. I think it's the 1.8" hdd and GMA500 gfx that lets it down... at super high res 1600x768 but with just GMA500???

Can't wait to try out the more expensive version, hopefully the faster CPU & SSD makes it nicer to use!

oklah...although you could get the ns25 with better cpu for rm2788...check it out in senQ & courts
