Got few questions need to ask
1.This notebook gets hot very fast. It does not have graphic card but still so hot. Even the keyboard can feel the heat. Is that normal? I am afraid burn mobo
2. Lan connection giving problem. Everytime webpage cannot be found. Then when diagnose they say TCP not compatible with router
3. Can I know what programs that I can disable or delete. Coz startup long time. And load programs little bit slow.
4. What notebook fan can I use. That is comfort and light, So far i only see those suitable for 12" not for 11.1"
5. How to save battery? It says 11 hours. But seems to be getting only max bout 4 hours.
6. Any other advice how to jaga this notebook? some tips that u all have learn??
1. The bottom of this notebook is kinda hot. so it's normal. 28 ~ 42'C the bottom part. the fan exhaust: 49'C
2. check your lan settings, might have some mistake. static ip? dynamic ip? its usually related to notebook ip config with your router config.
3. if you have norton internet security (or norton av) i suggest you avoid it. try find light weight av like avira to subs. *optional*. program like sonic stage can be disable if you not really use it, vaio auto update can disable too. you can try google what vaio user uninstalled when they receive their machine. sorry i kinda forgot what i disable, since i do fresh install on my vaio XD.
since TZ use Vista Business, its advisable to upgrade to at least 2gb.
4. no idea about this since im not using any. next question~

5. try to reduce the brightness of the lcd. you can customize the power schemes, like when on battery, disable the iLink port, modem etc.
anyway, the batt. life:
* Lightweight battery pack VGP-BPS11: 6 hours (Real world 3 hours)
* Standard battery pack VGP-BPL11: 12 hours (Real world 6 hours)
* Enhanced battery pack VGP-BPX11: 18 hours (Real world 9 hours)
6. you mean taking care of the notebook? just dont play game on this kind of notebook for a long time. and dont drop it. clean up the lcd and exterior after some period, and other precaution apply to any notebook

welcome aboard!

Owner of a SZ75 here.
I am aware there has been some discussions about the electric shock derived from the aluminium rest pad. I felt it too sometime...mild one. But i am afraid thing might get worse one day resulting drop of the unit by the shock generated.
By the way, i admit i am sensitive to such shock even from other electronic device. But never happened while using my office Dell laptop or my previous Fujitsu Lifebook. Perhaps this problem affect a small group of people only. But i really hope to find a solution to the matter.
Seek help or advise from the gurus here.

haha... same... i do feel the occasional shock shock feeling while typing...
usually i will feel it after i took my hands off the aluminium pad for a while then resuming typing and when it's charging it's battery using adaptor. other than that like currently i'm typing using battery i dun feel any shock...
i think there is leakage when charging. dunno can bring to sony to complain or not? hee hee...
PS (i dun like it even it's an occasional thing. somehow will get the surprising shock and that's not too good...)
trowachin and dry75: some user may experience the electric pulse on the palmrest. while some not. its has been an issue since old series of SZ. try using 3-pin power adapter. best is to cover the part where the electric pulse is.
here some possible fix experienced by DC2 from notebookreview.com
"PROBLEM FIXED
My SZ360p/c also has this problem. The electricity leak was even worse when I plug the laptop to 220V outlet. I was in Hong Kong and I tested the SZ that were in computer stores over there as well (about 6 of them). I was able to feel the electricity on almost all of them (except for 1).
I called sony about it and they sent me a new power adaptor with grounding. I received it in 2 days and now the problem is fixed.
When I was on the phone with Sony rep, they sounded as if they never heard of the problem. But after I explained what was going on to them, they didn't even bother telling me to bring the laptop in for diagnosis. They just sent me a new P/S. So it seems like they are aware of the problem, just wouldn't admit it."This post has been edited by Miyabi: Jul 15 2008, 01:27 AM
