depending on your budget.
But as for starter, maybe VAIO FW or CS series.

i think I saw a advertisement in the Star yesterday..but I am not sure whether it was courts or Harvey....
selling one of the sony notebook RM27xx......can't recall which model...

btw, what is the cheapest sony notebook available in malaysia ?? and actually what makes the premium pricing compared to
say Acer ?
*
The cheapest is NS series and P series.

It expensive due to:

1. Branding. : Yes, have to admit this. any sony notebook will cost a lil bit expensive than the one with similar specs.
2. Quality. : I have experienced and honestly said that their notebook quality can be qualified from mediocre to elite. I'm satisfied with its built quality, its more sturdy than the Acer i used earlier if i want to compare them. Its always the best to play around with the notebooks at their store. This apply to any product you are going to buy.
3. Design : The notebook is design to have decent looks and it is always top-notch when sony designing their notebook.
4. Beauitful LCD screen ever. period.

Their premium notebook currently: Z series, TT series, AW series. while TT come second as most of the feedback saying that the TZ has better looks over TT, performance wise, its won by TT series. But people mostly settle with Z series since it sits in the middle when it come for mobility and powerhouse machine.

Best seller series in Malaysia: SR series.

I am now sound like a promoter lol. Anyway, I encourage you to go to their store/shop to play with the products. Read the reviews (e.g: cnet, notebookreview forum - sony thread, theres alot to mention. just google it out.) too.

Hi, I know that probably I discover too late.
My disc was formated and xp installed. I do not have the vaio recovery tool now. I know the hidden partition is still there. (caculating approximately more than 9G. However it is inaccessible without the tool.
Wonder if any kind soul would be samaritan to help fellow sz453 user me. Greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Think there is no other way. All the forums out there are crying over such issues. The manufacturer are not doing much to help.  There were no warnings and reminders about backups. What can they expect normal users to have expert computing knowledge?

i'll say that tools is only useful doing full factory backup for the first time boot. but if you already format your disc, you might already delete the hidden partition. why do you need the tools? to create backup factory default disc? for backup you can just use 3rd party software like acronis. you can define what to be installed, instead blindly factory install which full of bloatware and stuff unless the factory default is using other os (e.g: vista) then you might wanna look it up. you can always get the drivers if you are worry about unknown devices for fresh installed. though, there is no dedicated download for the data restore tool itself. but you can give a try to download its update version.

the driver files here: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/select-sy...DIRECTOR=DRIVER

Erm... i plan to buy a sony vaio cs series, but i am so confused that which colour should i choose?? i prefer white and brown... just wanna ask for opinions, which colour will be the best?? and one more thing, will the white colour become dirty or got bit yellow after i using it for a long period??? thanks..
*
if i were you, i will settle with dark color. vaio cs is fingerprint magnet, so the cons here you can easily see the fingerprint spot if dark color. and answering to your question, i dont think those white will easily turn yellowish since it's glossy surface. Theres no best color choice, its all about your preference and taste.

** Notice that there some typo at the brochure. The SR series does not offer "Dynamic Hybrid Graphic", and the keyoboard isnt a lcd lulz. oh well, Sony Malaysia always love to typo.

first of all, welcome to forum @ lowyat.net.
priorities on buying CS? maybe create a recovery disc on first boot (if you have bought it) or buying an additional accessories like notebook cooler, keyboard protector etc, though these thing kinda unnecessary to me. sorry if im not answering your question, i just dont get it.

question no. 2, its easy to get the parts provided you are going to right channel, which via Sony Centre. you can even still the obselete parts such as lcd replacement, battery, but you might have to order it.

Hi, I'm also wanna ask same question here.
I mainly used for office work and surfing internet.
I'm considering vaio FW or SR series.

BTW, I needs more longer usage on battery and
want to know about other members advice also,

Thanks.... cool2.gif
*
longer usage on battery, go with 13.3" VAIO SR series;
or VAIO Z series, or VAIO TT series.

The first number indicates better battery life:
1. VAIO TT (low voltage cpu, small screen size 11.1")
2. VAIO Z (moderate batt lifetime, where it sits between TT and SR)
3. VAIO SR (get a large capacity battery since the stock batt is at 4800 mAh)

The FW totally out of choice when choosing the better batt life. smile.gif

anyone using Vaio SR?
how is it go on?
Thinking of getting Vaio SR o Maccbok...Any suggestion?
*
i dont own neither the SR nor macbook, but i spent few minutes to do test run on the display model at Apple Store and SonyStyle Store, i can say that:
build quality wise, macbook (only for macbook alu and macbook pro) feels more sturdy and compact; while SR is mediocre at its best and light at less few grams than macbook.
its depend on your purpose. if you working with alot apps that rely on Windows, go for SR series. yes, you can still works with BootCamp, but save those hassles with something better. say you got to do some presentation or meeting, you have to buy the vga adapter too for macbook to connect to projector. gaming wise? absolutely no for macbook.

try take a peek on Apple user thread here, and ask their opinion too: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/873560
