wow, didn't notice there's a comic thread here...

have been collecting some marvel comics down the years, all x-titles since before the age of apocalypse (around 94-95?). stopped for a while before picking back up the hobby about 5 years back, and now have decided to quit for good.

too expensive for a hobby, really, it's eating up my wallet, hahahaha...

now looking to sell off some of my treasures, wondering if there's any buyers around?

just an update for you guys on my search for the Capt A HC biggrin.gif

finally found a cheaper alternative to the CA Omnibus, it's actually a Marvel Premier Edition HC collecting CA #25 - #30, and it's a Vol 1. I expect more HCs to come out soon relating to this storyline, damn gripping read.

also bought the Fallen Son tribute, very good companion indeed. and the best thing was, both were 30% off! rclxm9.gif

next on my hunt list is Planet Hulk! I read reviews that it's a good storyline, and I think Eric over here also said it's worth it. is it still available @ Kino? how about WW Hulk? thanks guys!

Captain America Omnibus collects Capt America # 1 - 25 + Winter Soldier One-Shot while Capt America HC collects # 25 - 30.

So both is catering to different category. If you are to collect all 26 books, it should costs you RM 12-00 x 26 per books and you are paying approximately RM260-00 for collected edition. If you are keen on just the death, then # 25 - 30 should be sufficient. Do remember, the continuity starts in # 1 since it is the same writer thru-out.

These Book Stores can buy bulks so they are definately buying it cheaper so even with discounts, technically they are still earning. Look at what how much Amazon is giving discounts !

Anyway, Borders and Kno only giving discounts on occasions. Kino is still the best offering 30% off.

New Avengers HC # 1 collects New Avengers # 1 - 10 @ 30% off.

WHO WANTS TO CREATE A SUPER-HEROINE?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Most contests in the comic book business are geared toward artists. Shadowline, in partnership with Newsarama, is bucking the tide and creating a contest geared toward writers!

According to Shadowline editor, Kristen Simon, "I'd been hoping to see a super-hero book with a strong female lead to act as a counter-point to our popular Bomb Queen series, but none were forthcoming. So I decided to come up with a contest to create a super-heroine for the 21st Century."

The character will be 100% creator-owned as all Image and Shadowline books are (Trademark and copyright to be shared by writer and artist). The winning entry will be featured in their own self-titled three issue mini-series to be drawn by fan-favorite artist, Franchesco! (She-Dragon, Green Lantern Corps Quarterly) and back-end profits will be split between the creators.

Contest regulations are listed below. Neither Image nor Shadowline can or will be responsible for synchronicity (similar ideas appearing at the same time).

No feedback will be provided on submissions, just a confirmation of receipt.

Contest will be divided into three parts as outlined below, deviation will result in immediate disqualification:

Round One:
Contestants e-mail a BRIEF one paragraph story synopsis by January 31, 2008 to: superheroinecontest@gmail.com. Stories/concept must be original with original characters. No pre-existing characters may be used unless owned by contestant.

Round Two:
Ten semi-finalists will be chosen from all entries received by the above date and notified by e-mail. They will then be required to turn in 5 (five) fully scripted pages by February 29, 2008.

Round Three:
The five finalists will be announced and their synopses posted on Newsarama on March 10. Newsarama posters will be encouraged to vote on their favorite. (Writers are strongly advised to direct traffic to the contest via message boards, myspace, etc...every vote counts!) Polls will close on April 4, 2008.

The winner will be announced April 28 with initial concept art/character design by Franchesco. First issue will be solicited with a cover date of November, 2008.

Based on the reviews I've been reading Ultimates 3 is nothing to shout about.

Btw, anyone going to Kino anytime soon? Mind checking if they're offering any discount on BKV's The Escapist and Waid's Brave and the Bold. Thanks.

Yeah..Ultimate 3 received some bad reviews regarding the storyline and some changes to the characters.. sad.gif
However..Joe Mad warned earlier that he and Loeb will do something different..some may hate it..
But Joe Mad's stroke is superb as always.. rclxms.gif
Bought it solely bcoz of the art..

Ultimates Vol. 1 HC had been released some time back, might have problem getting it from either Kino or Borders unless special order. For Trades, you can get it under 2 Volumes @ RM 49-61 & RM61-35 each in Kino.

Ultimates Vol. 2 HC @ RM 119-32 in Kino.

P/S : Borders is offering 15% discounts for 2 books and above till 01-01-2008.

So far, i noticed 2 HCs coz cheaper shipping & handling, dunno whether 3 or more HCs cost lesser?

BTW, it's cheaper when you buy 2 HCs, for example Ultimates & Ultimates 2
Amazon normally offered special discount when buying 2 HCs
not just with books, DVDs, CDs
