No TKL in future, if it's TKL it will not looks like this.. I think their current direction is a bit different. As those look fancy, mostly will target on full layout 104/108 or above 108 layout.
For model that have TKL, will target on mkb community.

wow for this price you get a 104-key board, cherry mx rgb switches, anodized aluminum case (most of custom cnc aluminum cases are priced at least at the similar price range of a functional board already), and detachable type-c usb cable. this is indeed a very nice deal.

damn why does it always have to be a full-size board?

the stock dsa set on race 3 is not bad imo. although i still get dsa sets, i need adjustments when i type on them. (feeling the same now with oem profile sets) the best profile to me is still cherry profile for the best typing experience haha

well i didn't help much in your case tbh but thank you for thanking me biggrin.gif

if you really want clears, you can still mod the board and replace the stock brown with them, after you get bored with brown haha (or maybe make them ergo clears)

Different model series offer a different board designs.

Previous:

MasterKeys Pro L (RGB/ White LEDs) -> Pro S -> Pro M
MasterKeys L PBT -> S PBT [no M model]
MasterKeys MK750 RGB -> MK850 (future, with extra macro and larger) [no 80% layout]

I will say mainstream brands, prioritize on full layout first. i.e ducky, filco, cm, even topre

From my perspective, full size is harder to sell, most people getting tkl in the community. When you lower the pricing of full size to match the TKL, full size products only able to move.
People thinking paying less, getting more is better (new comers).

i believe there are solid reasons for manufacturers to prioritize full-size boards. for new comers i guess that's how they see things also. however, like what you said, full-size is hard to sell, because apparently that's not the preferred form factor that most people look for.

i just thought that manufacturers should understand this, and realign product releases accordingly hehe

you can try ask some one to help you out, if you really want to do that haha

although they look nice, dsa and sa sets are really not my cup of tea. for nice looking key cap sets you should check out https://en.zfrontier.com/ also. there are plenty of choices there.

According to the sales research for the mkb, mainstream = prefer full size (some don't even know smaller layout exist).
We in the mkb community is a bit niche, in smaller population.

Manufacturer produce based on the demand, since last year we have lots of smaller layout keyboards in the market already. Want rare switch, everything want rare.. lol
But, you see, you need to meet MOQ even for the rare switch, but our country need quite long time to clear just 10 units of mx green or clear. They can't offer because the demand is so less.

Reality is many buy 1 keyboard then retired, so, mostly blue and brown sell the best. Green, clear, grey hard to sell because it's too niche and feel tired to use. sad.gif

ah got it; mainstream equals full-size. the mkb community is already a niche group, with a very small population. for a small country like here, this population is so small that it's kind of expected to always fail to meet MOQ lol

thanks a lot for sharing these valuable insights. it makes sense now. this also explains why for those who wish to get the rarest of all choose to build custom boards eventually. actually that's how i feel when i play more with mkbs, especially after exposing to different switches and mods. the gaps between prebuilts and customs are real.

however, i will still get prebuilts, because some of them are simply great out-of-box, save me a lot of time, and much cheaper compared to building a custom board.

If compare the progress of 5 years ago, malaysia mkb and today.. It's depressing.
We not that niche previously compared to now near-extinction.. sad.gif

Poker users are common back then, many users I see have poker and poker 2.

We veteran from the old era stalk this thread but submarine now.. Really thanks to you horns for actively involved in the discussion of MKB Club. thumbup.gif

P/S: I hope the best for this club. Hope all can back active and find back the motivation we have in this hobby.

Hi, it's me again with another question.

What are some reputable MKB Brands with aluminium casing? Planning to get it with MX Blues. Previously planning to go with Leopold but the case is made out of plastic.

Latest is the CM MasterKeys MK750 RGB, come with aluminum body. I have run this pre-order at cheap price.
Corsair K series also have many alu body.
Previously iKBC/Vortex Poker3 (60% layout) also have alu body, but end of life, no more in the market.

well, at least we still have vets like you and some others sticking around.

haha yes i wish i can learn more from new and existing users. many have shared good advice and stuff with me. i really appreciate their generosity. in return i will try contribute to the mkb community also, just like them helping me out when i got stuck.

there is a new era coming up for mkbs: CIY boards. experiments and customization are much more convenient with them, even for new comers. they are not as good as boards with soldered switches, but at least a lot of us can now have actual experience about various differences in switches, parts, and mods much easier and cheaper than before. if they're done right, CIY boards can actually fill up the gap between prebuilts and soldered customs. tbh there are still a lot of rooms for improvements and limitations in current generations of CIY boards, but i have high hope on them, as they're getting more popular. (e.g. input.club's ktype, tokyo60)

this is also why i believe this mkb community will grow again some days.

Hello fellow people,

Just a short enquiry.

I am currently into Topre switches.
I understand that my choices are limited to certain keyboard only and as for right now I do have a preference for my keyboard (60%)

However I am interested in purchasing a HHKB type S locally so that I may save the hassle of waiting or w/e things that may happen if I order online.

Before I go ordering or scouring on Ebay, is there any seller in Malaysia that carry this model?

Also,

Any owners here would like to share their experience owning one?
I am currently using Leopold TKL (Browns) and most of my time typing on Blackwidow Ultimate 2013 (Blues).

Would the Topre switch be much different from what I have now? Or it is just a gag?

Thank you for your time replying.

Get type-s 2nd hand from other enthusiast is the fastest way, and cheaper this way. Many let go their HHKB over the year.

Note: Order online will take weeks because shipping from the Japan (PFU company) to Malaysia, held by custom etc. I'm the owner of Store Uni, handling a lot of the Topre keyboards..

--

Topre is capacitive type of mechanical switch, it's different from the Cherry mx compatible switch in terms that, topre will provide smoother actuation.
Topre in the market have 3 kinds of weight: 30g, 45g, 55g. PFU HHKB only have 45g though. 30g and 55g are in the Topre Realforce model, including variable weight.

And HHKB is different typing feel even compared to Leopold Topre. Since, HHKB is using case mount, while other keyboard using plate mount (steel plate).
So, HHKB will provide the most cheap, lightweight, case cracking sound when you type on it. The solid board don't apply to HHKB.
However, hhkb still provide best typing compared to steel plate.

--

The question me to you, why get Type-S instead of normal ? Because you need the silencing?
