Hello senpais!

I need help regarding on the JR pass..

I checked quite a few of information online and I am not really clear about it still.

If I get a 7 days JR pass, which means I can take all public transport under JR's company which include of city buses and train right? But is it convenient?

I need some suggestion about my current plan which one would be cheaper?

I will be in Japan for 2 weeks. Planning to travel from Osaka > Tokyo > Kyoto > Osaka.
Planning to go to Mount Fuji too.

= PLAN 1 =
Buy a 7 day JR pass travel from Osaka > Tokyo > Kyoto > Osaka. Cost me about RM1,100?

= PLAN 2 =
Buy night buses travel from Osaka > Tokyo about 7hours so I could save up my stay as well. From Tokyo > Kyoto about 6hours?
Total fare about RM500? Somemore I save my stay for 1 night. But I will need to pay more on public transport in the city but I will get a Icoca in Osaka & Kyoto, Suica in Tokyo. Should be cheap right?

If I were to buy my travel tickets online anyone have nice websites to intro where they gives discount.
Tight on budget T_T Malaysia ringgit is weak af..

9th Nov. 3 weeks more smile.gif Finished my itinerary, but now I scared the station is too complicated will get lost, especially tokyo station  tongue.gif

Ohhh close to mine! I leave on the 6th hehe! and hahaha omg I don't wanna relive that experience at tokyo station (my first time there 2 years ago). I basically ran from platforms to platforms xD and was stopped by the stationmaster not to run hahahaha. I was pretty frantic at that time but all is good if you identify properly which route you're supposed to be, and the exits.

My last few trips (2pax)

9d Kansai+Tokyo s$6.8k
14d Tokyo+Hokkaido s$10.4k
8d Nagano+Tokyo s$5.9k
*
That works out to be about S$740 or RM2,200 per day for 2 pax? Compare to going to Europe, which one more expensive to you?

we decided to travel around these dates which is April to May.

kl to Osaka 570
osaka to KL 630.

Kuching to KL 180 per way.

haven't book yet. wonder if we should wait or this is the cheapest.

also we searched airbnb most of the accommodations are listed around 280 to 300 plus. way over my traveling partner's budget.

well, you will go right smack in their golden week holidays.. which is not recommended..
i believe its best for you to select other dates
and airbnb shouldnt be that expensive, at least for Osak, below is one that i stayed previously

End of April will not be the peak of Sakura. In fact it might even be over unless global warming changes the weather drastically. June is normally raining season in Japan and the only month without any Public Holiday.

i have been trying to talk her out of seeing the sakura but she insist to be there and I don't want her to go there and there's no flowers and all this rushing will be for nothing.

I want October because we have more time to save up and we avoid the holidays and crowd and enjoy Japan to the fullest. I'm almost getting into an argument with her as we speak.

Just pujuk her to go for autumn leaves instead of cherry blossoms lor.
BTW, if you want to go for cherry blossoms, you should be aiming for 5-18th of April for full blossoms. It will be getting earlier and earlier to full blossoms due to global warming.

Here, you need this : http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2011_when.html

Show her the last 2 years of cherry blossom report, you will see rough dates and will know how late your proposed date is.... laugh.gif

Oh btw, October is also a bad idea to see red leave unless you are talking about Hokkaido, Nikko (north side / highland) of japan. You need to read more about seasons of japan...

managed to write down a yellow pad of pros and cons of traveling in April and Oct and the major factor is her budget. I told her how she gonna save 6k with her pay within 6 months and she going to Chiang Mai with family in January.

successful conversion to October. now I no need to worry about her having no money at the end of the day and need to borrow money from me mid trip as it happened in Bangkok before.

add on.

now she asks where to travel to in June of Japan pushed to Oct. facepalm. why do people travel when they can't afford it.

Tell us after the trip if you did make the same mistake. smile.gif This topic should then be in relationship and not travel to Japan though.

When I was browsing for Tokyo Subway Ticket, I saw this:

QUOTE
At Haneda and Narita Airports, the Tokyo Subway Ticket is only sold to overseas visitors who can produce passports with tourist visas.

Is it still possible to buy the ticket if I am using the ICAO passport which doesn't need visa?
