I don't buy that, mass media has always been pro-Clinton. Trump is after all, a businessman. He won't wanna risk his empire for the sake of becoming someone that will be recorded in history books as another Hitler or Mussolini tongue.gif
..............
That volatility, if any, would be a golden opportunity

yes, that is why I guess he mentioned for the 1st few months.....mkts gonna reacts as they are not sure of what to happens....(b'cos he has been so Anti trades)

https://www.google.com/#q=trump+anti+trades

just like BREXIT...mkts reacts....

yes...maybe he is hinting...Golden Opportunity just like you.....

the question is should one reduce their holding in EQ to catch again later....

just like xuzen existed Europe just b4 Brexit vote?

Again, back to the reserves topic.

ASx returns are SMOOTHED.

Almost all records of past returns of ASx is only on its dividends declared, I don't find any that use true returns (PROFIT/LOSS).

I.e.
I earn 10 sen I give u 6 sen
I earn 5 sen I give u 6 sen
I earn 12 sen I give u 7 sen
I earn 2 sen I give u 5 sen
And so on...

You read my siggy, you know I am not exactly concerned with risk volatility, don't you?

But I know some of us here are very, very concerned about volatility. To be fair to them, let someone do the homeworks rolleyes.gif

I have been following this topic actually. 10 > 10% but how many < 7.XX? To compare apple with apple we should use the median or average isn't it?

QUOTE(river.sand)
I thought you love to talk about text book topic Standard Deviation?
What are the SD and risk adjusted returns of those funds compared to ASx?
Disclaimer:
I have never invested in ASx. Don't shoot me.

Take a look at the image below. There are on it six UTFs (sorry not ten) that are Malaysia centric balanced fund with 10 years consistent CAGR of above 10% per annum. The UTF's corresponding volatility aka Std-Dev is on the far right column. The Std-Dev ranges from high 11.22% (RHB Income & Growth Focus UTF) to the lower Affin-Hwang Select Balanced Fund (4.68%).

If I were to participate in the listed UTF below, guess which one would I participate in? Why bother with the median? In reality are you going to participate in all the balanced fund and expect to get the median?

A savvy investor would want to ride on the winning horse, not on all the horses. Do not be overly obsessed with Pokémon Go and its tag line: "Gotta catch em all".

Riversand, There will not be any Std-Dev for ASX FP UTF or if there is, they are negligible compared to normal UTF as ASX FP UTF's NAV remained fixed.

Just back for affinhwang mkts outlook presentation dinner.
Key take away
In the next 12 months, better in
EM (EM in Asia is better than EM of Europe or EM of Lat AM)
Indonesia….govt policies supportive of growth. IF Jokowi managed to win 2nd terms....lagi BAGUS
Thailand….Diminishing political risks
Phillipines….new govt stance supported by mkts

Asean region is still resilience

If wants to invest for very long terms…try INDONESIA

China’s Corporate debt is 170% of GDP……which are 1 of the reasons mentioned most of the time China mkt corrects……currently its mkts is up and up……has the 170% elephant disappeared?

Invest with the beliefs that FED will raise rate this year and next…….amid slowly. Mkts will remains volatile near and after the FED meetings.

Most central banks will keep lower rates and more investment thru infrastructure investment.

"IF" trump wins on 8 Nov......expects few months of mkts volatility that is worst than Brexit.

Early this year, when asked about his opinion on M’sia small cap space….he mentioned of the risks of small cap liquidity issues……I was noob about liquidity till Aug…..
Will I be smarter this time?  hmm.gif
Will this punk be lucky this time?  brows.gif

Indo... hmmm... let me study more if want to go into soecific country fund

Meanwhile still focus on pure Malaysia funds...

Not to say manipulation, it's called "smoothing". Not evil, not cheating, but NOT FAIR, in the sense of, early investors will lose their accumulated prior year profits to the investors who joined in bad years when the fund pays dividends from prior years profit.

Your company annual bonus also like that what? Management CAN pay out RM1mil as staff bonuses, but they chose to pay only RM400K, simpan RM600K for future use. Earlier joined employees lose out.

Next year, company profits worse off, but Management decided to pay more to retain staff. From current year profit, budget for bonus is only RM200K, but Management decided to pay RM500K, "korek" RM300K from previous year allocated budget not utilised. Employees who just joined this year "profited". innocent.gif
