Any good mini ITX casing and motherboard(H110) recommendations?

tell me more about this recent WS880 RM 199? now only 1 lelong seller for RM400

Sri Computer @LYP was trying to clear the stock of this WS880 router few weeks ago at RM 199 only, someone spotted it, bought it and posted in Networking subforum and Kopitiam, then it created a mass stock "sapu" madness.

It has the similar chipset as the one in Asus AC68U, definitely a steal for such pricing, it makes Asus router looks so overpriced, well in fact it is laugh.gif

27" 1080p monitor costs at least RM 750 while Z623 costs RM 600+, are you sure you gonna get them with your budget? You have to sacrifice a lot on the components/hardware if you really go for this path.

I suggest you to get a 24" 1080p monitor + cheap 2.1 speakers first and spend the rest of the budget on the components of the rig.

My current PC spec:

CPU: Core i5 4460
Motherboard: Asus H97 Pro Gamer
CPU Cooling: Cooler Master V6GT
RAM: HyperX Fury 8GB
GPU: Leadtek 980 Hurricance OC
PSU: Cooler Master 750 Watt
SSD: Kingston Hyper 3K 240GB
HDD: Western Digital 1TB 7200RPM
Monitor: Dell 2740L

Here's what I plan to get, wonder if it's compatible with my current spec.

1. Palit GameRock Palit GTX1080(SRP RM2999) (cheapest i can get on the market now)
2. Monitor that support up to 4K 60Hertz(Need some advice on which brand -24" or 27" will do)

Will it bottleneck if using same processor & mobo?

for casing, any good one you know that's with handle? well, if too expensive then i would probably get cm elite 110, just saying

for motherboard, if i am going to use integrated graphics, i would want higher maximum memory shared.

gigabytes motherboard usually only has 512mb shared

asus ones have 512mb and 1024mb

msi didn't really state on their website, but i think should be 1024mb

asrock, however is 1792mb with wifi module summore
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813157687
EDIT: I have checked asrock website and it shows only 1024mb, most customers complain about the wifi antenna, i guess this is not what i want after all.

i just need some opinions, or any better motherboard?

I would advise you to drop the speaker and get a 27 inch instead if this is the path you want to go, the speaker itself is a 2.1 speaker and doesn't worth its full price at all.

Intel Core i5 6402P - RM 729
Gigabyte H110M-DS2 (D4) - RM 299
Kingston 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 154
Gigabyte GTX950 2GB GDDR5 OC - RM 689
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 209
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 199
ATX/mATX casing ~ RM 150
BenQ GW2460 - RM 469
Logitech Z623 - RM 729

Total: RM 3627 (Viewnet price inclusive of GST)

If without the overpriced speaker, you can get at least a RX470.

Some games yes some games no, if the games itself requires fast single core clock speed or utilize multicore then bottleneck will happen.

Samsung U28E590DS 4K 60Hz TN FreeSync - RM 1899
Dell P2415Q 4K 60Hz IPS - RM 1899
Dell S2817Q 4K 60Hz TN - RM 1935
Acer Predator XB280HK 4K 60Hz TN GSync - RM 2499
Philips BDM4350UC 4K 60Hz IPS - RM 2599

I will go for Acer Predator GSync over all the other monitors anytime, 4K is an insane resolution to drive, even with GTX1080 and you won't have stable 60 FPS, GSync is here to help biggrin.gif

Since still no specific budget range stated, I will just go with what I can.

CM Elite 110 and 130 - suitable for low budget build, if no dedicated GPU is going to be installed like your case, go for Elite 110, small and easy to carry around.

ASRock H110M-ITX/ac is not available in Malaysia, we only have the non AC version. If you don't need a WiFi card, you can get the non AC version (H110M-ITX), price is around RM 350. You can get a WiFi adapter for wireless connection with either USB dongle or PCIe adapter to pair with the ASRock mobo, USB dongle is much cheaper than PCIe card.

If like this, which processor and mobo should i go?
Processor I5 should be more enough?
How about mobo? Cos I might go for SLI for GTX1080 next year when the price is going down.
But normally 1 card better than SLI? If not mistaken from "google search"
Acer Predator GSync already Rm3.2k alone.

Another question is 1440p/144hz and 4k/60hz. which one is preferable? because my town areas dont have 4k even 2k monitor to test for gaming. is this really big different? or should i stick with 1440p 144hz with gtx1080?

Just find an i7 4790 or Xeon E3 1231 V3, no need to get new mobo or upgrade to Skylake, it is not worth at all, the performance gain is too little.

Price for the current gen GPU won't go down so soon unless our beloved PM lower down the GST rate or our currency strengthen against USD magically in short period of time which is unlikely to happen.

Single card is always better than SLI, SLI requires SLI ready mobo, SLI ready PSU and you need to deal with lots of SLI profiles and bad scaling issues, wait for GTX1080Ti instead of you want to go for GTX1080 SLI, the raw performance of GTX1080Ti is unable to beat GTX1080 SLI for sure but at least you get better performance on single card when the games itself is having zero SLI support or bad scaling.

Acer Predator XB281HK is the 4K monitor you need to look for (I listed above, the RM 2499 one), the 3.2k one is XB271HU which is a 1440p 144Hz monitor.

Edit: I will go with 1440p 144Hz instead of 4K 60Hz now simply because the power of the current gen GPU is still unable to provide a solid 60 FPS in 4K resolution without any compromise. 27" for 1440p is perfect, 4K on a 28" isn't my cup of tea sweat.gif

I see, so conclusion go for palit 1080 and xb271hu will be enough? Is it compulsory to change to i7 4790 instead of i5 4460? Bottleneck? My mobo will be ok? Based on your current spec on gtx1070 with the monitor you using(acer) how's the performance?

Up to you, you need to fork out extra RM 700+ for XB271HU though, if you are ok with this then I highly recommend you to go for this upgrade path.

It is not compulsory to change the i5 to i7, i5 can drive GTX1080 well too, bottleneck only occurs when the games you play is too CPU demanding which holds back the full potential of the GPU. Mobo is fine as long as you have a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot.

I switched from GTX980Ti to GTX1070 before the massive price drop on new GTX980Ti and GTX1070 is basically packing the performance of GTX980Ti so yeah, the performance in terms of FPS is roughly the same but at much lower power consumption.

The monitor itself is awesome, it is the cheapest 1440p IPS monitor with GSync feature in Malaysia and you can overclock it to 165Hz officially too (under warranty protection) but one thing you need to take note is the backlight bleeding issue, backlight bleeding is common on IPS monitor and very hard to get a perfect unit, my unit has slight bleeding on top left, it is not visible from normal use though, I can only notice it when I switch off all the lights and turn the screen to dark mode (or dark wallpaper), I believe the new revision has better QC now because two of my friends who bought it last month have no bleeding issue.

Good luck.

Saw someone posted the picture of this mobo model few months ago here, but not sure if it is in V10/V11 or Buy Club thread, but H110 with onboard WiFi card is very rarely in Malaysia, same thing happened on last gen's H81 as well, need at least B150(B85) or H170(H97) for that hmm.gif

Yes, they do have delivery/courier service.

Currently most of the DX11/OpenCL games are still based on the performance of single core (single threaded operation), only few titles are utilizing the extra cores/threads of i7, namely Fallout 4, Hitman 2016 and most of the RTS games (CPU demanding) etc.

I suggested i7 mainly to reduce the CPU bottleneck as much as possible (even i5 can carry on but if you have sneaky background operation ongoing, it hurts the FPS) and more future proof for upcoming DX12/Vulkan titles (less CPU overhead, more cores utilization for better performance).

You can switch to i5, i5 6500 carries the best price/performance ratio among all the i5 models available in Skylake CPU series.

Hey man, I'm getting the rig next week. Just to add, I've checked the mobo you suggested and it supported 2133Mhz ram. So that means If I were to get performance ram it wouldn't be much of difference I guess? Also, Idealtech got a new Gigabyte GTX1070 Windforce OC with the same price as the GPU you suggested. I suppose it's a better choice as it is a pre-OC card. I heard pascal card can autoboost itself if power and temperature allows it. So is pre-OC card really necessary?

You can swap to other brands as you wish, no restriction on this.

Pascal comes with GPU Boost 3.0 technology, Maxwell had this as well but with the older 2.0 generation. This boost technology works or stacks on top of your current clock speed so you don't have to worry it will be a waste to get pre-OC'ed GPU.

For example, Windforce OC model comes with a boost clock speed of 1771MHz, but when you use RivaTuner overlay or EVGA Precision X overlay to check the speed, you will notice it goes beyond the 1771MHz limit automatically? Why, it is because of the Boost 3.0 technology, you might see 1850MHz (more or less) when the temperature allows.

Pre-OC'ed card is good for those who are lazy to fine tune their GPU or afraid of taking the risk of blowing up their card when something goes wrong because the advertised OC'ed speed is always safe to use (under warranty protection).
