The price haven't include monitor is it ?is 2k/4k resolution look really sharp compare to 1080p?I never see 2k with my eyes before .1060 6gb is overkill for 1080p?

Yes, not included yet.

Imagine you have a 720p screen and a 1080p screen on 7" tablet, you will notice the display and text are much sharper on the 1080p screen thanks to its higher ppi (pixel per inch). This applies to PC monitor resolution as well, higher resolution will bring more details (pixel counts are higher), thus creating a sharper display.

GTX1060 6GB is best fit for 1080p, I wouldn't call it overkill unless you aren't planning to run games at maximum settings (or 80% max etc.)

950 Pro is a NVMe PCIe SSD while 850 is just a normal AHCI SATA 3 SSD, the speed difference is quite significant, same goes to the price tag  sweat.gif

But SATA based SSD is already fast enough for normal users to feel its speed advantage over the traditional HDD, 950 Pro is more like a luxurious car, I wouldn't recommend anyone to get it now unless you transfer a lot of stuffs in between all the drives that you have in your rig due to its price tag, wait for few more years until the price gets settled down biggrin.gif

512GB is faster than 256GB (both read and write).

to bad, i just thinking want to invest leftover money from downgrade GTX 1080 to 1070.. into M.2 SSD

So better just stay with my Samsung Evo SSD will do right brother ??

Yes just stick with SATA based SSD (like 850 EVO) will do unless you have extra budget floating around and don't be fooled by "M.2 SSD" term, there is also M.2 SSD using legacy SATA like Samsung 850 EVO M.2 and its price is almost similar to the normal 2.5" SSD (speed also same, just form factor is different).

Speed wise is almost identical as they are using SATA 3 and is being limited by the speed of SATA 3, unless clearance is an issue, I don't see any reason to pick the M.2 over the 2.5".

If you transfer data between two 950 Pro then you will benefit from the speedy I/O specs (provided you aren't being bottlenecked by other I/O like RAM and system cache size), if you transfer from (or to) 950 Pro to 850 Evo (example), then you will experience slightly faster transfer speed in the first few seconds (thanks to system cache), then eventually it will drop to SATA 3 speed as the 850 Evo couldn't catch up the speed of 950 Pro and 950 Pro will have to wait for the data to finish copy to 850 Evo first before continue.

And for the performance in games, well it depends on the file block design of the game files, if they are broken into small pieces then the one with higher sequential 4K read will win the competition, and no doubt 950 Pro will win it in this comparison, same goes to all the other categories, but the problem is "is it worth the extra money for a shorter loading time (for like few seconds only?)?" tongue.gif

and now m.2 .. now u make me feel rather i stay at my SSD 850 evo for now .. xD

I think what u say .. make sense also.. if i spend to much.. but i never use my component very well.. that consider waste.

I am just telling the truth, price/performance ratio is always my top priority biggrin.gif

Well I have 950 Pro 512G model, bought it last time during a sales, yes it is fast, but how much faster than a SATA 3 SSD? Hmm, for my usage (normal browsing, gaming etc), just few seconds. My desktop boots up just few seconds faster than my laptop with SATA SSD, not really worth my money if you ask me (but it's fine since I bought it at a low price) laugh.gif

Hi can recommend me any build with the price range from RM1.5k to RM1.8k.
Not following hardware stuff for a while now. I'm helping friend to build rig for his family use.
Usage mostly for internet browsing, youtube, watching movies etc. No gaming.
So the price doesn't need to include the GPU.
I wonder if it can fit i5 skylake with SSD, 1tb HDD & min 8gb Ram.
And do suggest shop that provides best value price with fair service in Klang Valley. Thanks smile.gif

Hi, I would like to seek some help here.

I required to upgrade the hard disk, mobo, graphic card, psu and rams.

Kindly advise a build with a budget of MYR1,500.00 max.

Just recreational gaming time with games like CS:GO, DotA and planning to get Battlefield 1.

Current casing is CM690.

Many thanks in advance!

Sequential read -> yes

Sequential write -> almost identical to SATA 3 speed

4K random read/write (small block of files) -> yes but only for high end 512G & 1T model

600P is an entry level NVMe PCIe SSD, it is not as fast as 950 Pro but it is a good step for other SSD vendors to start chopping down the price of NVMe PCIe SSD by following the step taken by Intel.

Intel Core i3 6100 - RM 520
Asus H110M-K - RM 253
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 229
Kingston SSDNow UV400 120GB SSD - RM 203
Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD - RM 219
CM Elite Power 350W - RM 126
Tecware F3 - RM 125

Total: RM 1675 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

i3 is sufficient, if you really need i5 then you might need to drop the SSD as the cheapest i5 costs RM 750+.

In some games, yes, but not all, those CPU demanding games will show CPU bottleneck symptoms.

You want to upgrade "hard disk, mobo, graphic card, psu and rams", how about processor (since you only mentioned to re-use current casing)?

Hi I currently owned a Radeon 7950 (its an old card I know) and I wanted to upgrade to a card that is capable of running 2016 games at say, 1080p with medium settings. I found 1050 Ti but when I did some comparison it doesn't really outperform 7950 by a huge margin, so therefore my question is can anyone recommend a "bang for the buck" worthy upgrade to my old 7950?

Say a Sony phone has a 5 inch screen size diagonally, and it's 1920x1080 (1080p, FHD). It packs 400ppi within the 5 inch screen. Then Sony releases another phone, now at 5.5 inch screen, also 1080p, now that this phone will have only 300 ppi because the screen size is enlarged but still packing the same amount of pixel density as the 5 inches screen, making the pixel per inch to be not as many as the 5 inches one.

GPU does not render depends on ppi...it renders at resolution, like FHD, 2K, 4K and such. Say at 1080p, GPU only needs to render 1920x1080 pixels, however at 1440p (2K), the GPU needs to render an extra amount of pixels (2560x1440) hence taking more works. Hopefully this clears your confusion
