Hi I currently owned a Radeon 7950 (its an old card I know) and I wanted to upgrade to a card that is capable of running 2016 games at say, 1080p with medium settings. I found 1050 Ti but when I did some comparison it doesn't really outperform 7950 by a huge margin, so therefore my question is can anyone recommend a "bang for the buck" worthy upgrade to my old 7950?

That's what I read too but somehow for instance, Infinite Warfare and Rise of Tomb Raider 1080p medium = overheat and auto restart. I always kept good care of it, just replaced TIM and cleaned its fan, somehow it can't handle these 2016 games. And I don't think it aged too much as I didn't even use it to mine BTC despite its high suitability.
