which brand of 7900GS is good without oc.. price?

Well if you looking for a 7900gs now, I would suggest maybe a x1950pro/gt. The card should perform better with cheaper price tag.

I am quite reluctant to use CoolBits since it involved a registry tweak.
*
IMO, CoolBit is the most simplest tweak provided by nVIDIA...tongue.gif, it's only enable hidden feature in nVIDIA's card/driver...smile.gif

Getting a sli mobo will only be convinient if you plan to have a sli setup for your graphic cards, means having 2 cards. Else it will make no difference if as compare to non sli mobo.

Even if you plan to run 2 graphic cards, there still cross fire base mobo which enable cross fire feature for 2 x ati cards.

@vailance

I bought Inno3D 7900GS 256MB DDR3 (450/1320MHz) for $150. It was the "best bang for the buck".

There aren't lots of stuff included in the pacakge, and it has a poor cooler. Anyway it is OCable to 600/1750Mhz(maybe more), but with better cooling. At stock cooling, works fine, cool and stable OC-ed to 550/1600Mhz.

both are the same, provide same overclocking feature too, RivaTuner comes with Hardware Monitoring, while nVIDIA's CoolBit is the most simplest tool, just run the *.reg file, and voila, you just enable overclocking tab in nVIDIA's Driver properties...

Well I think you might need a better psu as for good ones, I rarely heard others having problem on lack of cables.

For 2 x of 7600gs, it even cost more as compare to a single 7900gs or 1950pro. Adding in another 7300gt also wont bring much performance increase since I had tested almost all sli combo in the geforce 7 series.

If you can stick with the single 7300gt for temporarily, I would advice you doing so as you might able to get a 1950pro for below rm600 in a week or two period brows.gif

amd push back the launch of R600 to May, so price might not fluctuate too much again in coming months UNLESS nvidia doing something weird like releasing their low end 8 series
