From what I gathered,  6Ghz  works best within line of sight or with minimal obstructions. This is because higher frequency radio waves have a harder time penetrating walls and other objects compared to the 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands.

Maybe I will stick with u6 pro for now.

For my experience, even a dedicated 6GHz band SSID doesn’t work, I can’t get internet access on the band sometimes, MLO works but also most of the time it’s only 2.4+5 and not 5+6

Hopefully next software update fixes the issues since I’m on EA firmware

Upgraded to 1Gb plan. I was surprised that u6 pro only get 8xx Mbps when within 3 feet, average 6xx in the living room.

The ONR tested with 10xx Mbps. How much improvement I can get from u7? 😆

@yenchenje do you notice range improvement when enable AFC or 6Ghz range extender in E7?

If you have the money, by all means go ahead

But realistically speaking, for home environments, consider U7PM and U7XG/U7XGS, if you don’t have much clients running on 6GHz, don’t bother trying to get 4x4 with E7

2x2 is plenty fast enough as is, and currently I believe E7 line is still a bit buggy with firmware compared to U7 line

Not to mention the need for 10GB switch and PoE+++ injector, compared to 2.5GB and PoE++

10G PoE++ injector (60w) is enough for E7, max power consumption is 43W. BTW, I saw this on E7 page, that's why I thought AFC can work since Malaysia also FCC region.

Note. 6 GHz operation is supported in these countries.
Long-range 6 GHz performance with AFC available in FCC/IC region only.

Thank you for the feedback smile.gif

Actually they didn’t mention on whether 10GB PoE+++ is included by default, it just kinda came with it when I checked the package when it arrived, maybe they just give as freebie during promo period?

Hi, new Ubnt user here
Recently I purchased a USG Ultra from Synchroweb, been using AX88u with it
I would like to switch my entire setup to Ubnt but local prices are double the MSRP
However, prices in China (used) seems to be pretty decent
Is it possible to mix-match Ubnt equipments from different region? Thanks

Based on what I know. Hardware wise, there are 2 variants. US or global. US means locked to US region (operating within US environment/regulations), global version (same hardware) will operate based on region that we selected in Ubiquiti OS. If we selected Malaysia then it will operate within Malaysia regulations. I thought of getting from China too but I want to play safe.

Also, do note that UNBT not build for speed. My U6 Pro, usually gets about 600-800 Mbps only. I tested with Skyworth before, 10xxMbps. U7 could be faster. I'm yet to pull trigger on U7 pro XG or XGS. Current wifi speed is enough for my wireless devices.

Thought of getting U6 Pro, IW6 and PoE Lite 8 from China because the total price is still below a U6 Pro here
I saw them talking about US set and China set but nothing global

Tbh, using AX88U is enough for me at the moment, just sometimes when I restarted only the USG Ultra it will not assign IPV6 to LAN side unless I restart 88U as well

Btw, if you planning to get the unbt AP, you might want to check out the design tool. I find it useful to check out coverage area. Better if you have schematic of your house layout.

https://design.ui.com/

Edit again. Also, wifiman app from Ubiquiti is good tool to check wifi.
