Just saw this thread and was curious, anyone here has tested U6 Enterprise with the region hack to unlock 6GHz wifi in MY? Planning to get a U6 Enterprise from one of my supplier from work in Singapore and wanted to see if anyone has tried to use that frequency locally since it's still pending SIRIM approval iirc

Should easily work. Linus used this method to unlock 6ghz in Canada.

How much cheaper is it in Singapore? I’m waiting for September until my New York trip to buy them there.

Gotta ask my supplier if they carry any U6 Enterprise, the highest end I get them to quote is only U6 Pro, if they have it then I might snag it up with supplier pricing drool.gif

Thoughts?

yah U6 Enterprise that powerful i don't know method unlock 6ghz wifi
yah expensive i know USA must cheaper

if buy US U6 Enterprise kena apply sirim ??? and any risk  sad.gif
*
I’ve imported a few mobile phones/devices over the years, S8+, S10+, iPad Pro 10.5, S21 5G, two of them kena SIRIM, have to go to SIRIM QAS to pay the fees. Though those are cellular devices and U6 Enterprise is just considered as consumer/business network equipment, not completely sure if it’ll get SIRIM’s attention. But even not considering SIRIM, the warranty provided by my supplier is nice, 2 years warranty, compared to no warranty at all if import by ourselves.

Also I can technically just bring 1-2 of U6E back in my backpack since Malaysia customs at JB doesn’t inspect backpacks, only luggages and hand carry bags. Soooo :v

And from what I can see on eBay, the prices are similar. But Ubiquiti official store is selling it at significantly cheaper price, double edge sword really atm hmm

I think warranty is very important.

I’m taking a big risk buying from the USA, but it’s just too expensive for me to get in Malaysia

I just hope everything works well

I know we can still request rma from anywhere worldwide, but it’ll be very expensive to ship and very expensive for them to ship back too
*
Exactly, on eBay it's 294.99USD but shipping it back is gonna be probably half or more of that. But if it's bought in Singapore, I can just bring it in with me and exchange it/RMA it F2F.. unsure.gif

Got a pricelist from one of my supplier at work for Ubiquiti equipment

UDR 298
UDM 548
UDM SE 738
U6+ 138
U6 Pro 218
U6 LR 248
U6 Enterprise 418
U6 IW 258

All prices in SGD, thoughts? Looks like all of them are about 10-20% cheaper than retail in SG/MY

Might pull the plug on the UDR or UDM-SE with the U6E, have the full pricelist but didn't want to post just in case I bring too many unnecessary attention to it tongue.gif

Just curious but is 6E officially certified in Malaysia?

My iP15Pro and Z Fold 3 is unable to apparently detect 6E, wanted to move to full Ubiquiti from Omada

EAP670 > U6 Enterprise but if 6E is shotty, I might as well just wait for BE access points to become available whistling.gif

Yes, 6GHz band is already allowed by MCMC.

My local Phone 15 Pro is able to connect to the 6GHz band of Archer BE800 from TP-Link.

Z Fold 3 6GHz band is disabled by Samsung Malaysia.
*
Well, that explains why my Z Fold 3 was not able to find any 6E networks

Gonna try with my iPhone when I get the time, but might still have to get a 6E router to play with first

Seeing this thread reminded me

What are y'all's experiences with Unifi gear so far?

Currently looking at pre-ordering a Pro Max 24 PoE instead of Enterprise 24 PoE/TL-SG3428XPP-M2 from Omada to be my main core switch

But people have been going around with Unifi's stuff being more and more worst especially software side. Hardware is still good in the recent stuff from what I've also heard

P/S: I currently only have a 3 Unifi camera (1 Instant) + CK and all Omada AP setup. So I'm not terribly attached to the eco system side of stuff.

Guess I'm committed to the Unifi system even more now

Placed the pre order for Pro Max 24 PoE from my supplier for S$1190.

Hopefully it's reliable sweat.gif

can't comment on the network side, but been using UniFi cams since 2016. About 40+ of them, and still works well (some of the outdoor have "wash-ed out color"but otherwise wouldn't know they've been running for 8 years now in rain and shine.

have replaced the most of the NVR with CloudKey and definitely heads and shoulders above DaHua. Especially since it shows snap shots of what triggered the movement instead of wasting time scrolling through the recorded footage.

Downside is no official app support in MY.

Camera equipment so far is my fav aspect due to how much more better the interface is for Protect

Network is rough, but I’m sure that’s just my stupidity preventing it from working tho as I’m diving into VLANs and L3 management

But I’m initially going to move to EAP783 from EAP670, but I’ve gotten a U7 Pro and I’m getting the same ish performance but with WiFi 7, so I’m gonna be getting one more U7 Pro to replace my Omada system fully and going Ubiquiti smile.gif

But I will look back once the EAP783 gets cheaper or I have the budget to change to that, still would like to have 10G on my AP, tho I will need a Flex-XG-6PoE to run those, which will cost around 3.4K from lion city second hand market sweat.gif

just some correction. You can download the unifi android app, UNOFFICIALLY. If you try to do it via playstore you can't get it. Instead, you have to use the third party apk website https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/ubiquiti-networks-inc/unifi/

This site host legit files with no virus. But of course you can do your research on that.

So anyway, you download the apk onto your smartphone then install it. It will work.

That is the workaround. It's annoying but you can blame the legal issues with the Unifi name.
another method that may work is using a VPN when trying to access googeplay store, though i didn't test this method. But i don't see why that wouldn't get around the geo restriction.
This is the reason if anyone else is wondering
https://community.ui.com/questions/Ubiquiti...4c-ea801c6ab754
I use a Unifi AP wifi5 it works fine till now. Their unifi controller hosted on homelabs server works fine and can easily manage the unifi ap device.

Don’t think changing region with VPN works, I just side load on android, I change my region on iOS to SG to download the Unifi apps.

for iOS, does it require SG credit card / address to change region ? and how soon can it be changed back to Malaysia ?
*
No, you can choose to add no payment method

And as far as I know, theres no cooldown and you should only need to do it once to DL the app, and it will receive updates from there automatically

Prerequisites is you can not have any active subscription tied to the account you want to swap region on

3 more AP (1 U7 Pro, 2 TBD), one doorbell PoE, and the system is fully finished to my ideal plan. Maybe adding another NVR down the line to offload recording load off my CK sweat.gif

How is the U7 Pro and Wifi 7? smile.gif
*
Honestly I thought the 2x2 is gonna be bad but currently it’s been great.

Not much devices with 4x4 and I don’t foresee any of my family members have devices that comes with 4x4 antennas on their phone, even my 15 Pro only has 2x2 6E

Speed wise quite comparable to my previous WiFi 6 EAP670, with less coverage I’d say unfortunately as some previous spots can get WiFi well enough but with U7 can’t but at least it’s more cohesive with my Unifi system. So I can add more down the line to improve coverage and it will work

But I will consider going higher if a U7E ever comes up but for now it’s good, tho I do hope they come out with an outdoor rated AP as I need one of that, currently my choice is only the U6 Mesh.. hmm.gif

But a caveat, I’ve noticed currently weirdly with PPSK (VLAN segregation) some of my devices won’t get internet until I force them to reconnect and wait, and the AP will just fail to adopt if you got some rules and stuff and you have to hard reset multiple times for it to adopt. I think that issue partially has something to do with the 6GHz band causing issues with it just freaking out, hopefully there will be a better firmware that fixes these issues down the line

I was surprised when I notice 4x4 missing from U7 Pro, I thought only lite version will have 2x2. But then again, 2x2 works fine for most household. 4x4 will be useful for bigger deployment. For the adoption issue, most likely can fix with Network application or the device firmware.

Hopefully, they legit need to roll put better firmware cuz this is not it doh.gif

just wondering, how did you order the U7 pro?  hmm.gif  shopee does not have it listed. also ubiquiti website doesn't have malaysia in shipping destination i believe. and did you perhaps have to do the customs permit to order from overseas? or did you somehow manage to find a local seller for this?
did you see the review? it's missing some feature

@9:30
if not mistaken it's a feature added in a unifi app controller update, not a hardware revision  hmm.gif
also this. 2024 might not be the best time to get wifi 7, but 2025 might be though.

also on amazon i saw a few reviews saying this about the u7 pro  hmm.gif
the other wifi 7 options

based on the comments, seems like the ubiquiti is similar to the eero where they have some sort of odd connectivity issue.

but something like the tplink deco seems to just work, but has a privacy issue  rolleyes.gif
anyway curious what is your personal experience with the u7 pro? any connectivity issue? and what speeds are you getting  hmm.gif
*
I live in Johor but work in SG, so I did not smuggle them in my bag to cross customs. whistling.gif

For review, so far I've not dived into any particular reviews, just kinda went in blind, currently my experience is basically on par with EAP670, 6GHz short range but thats expected

Main thing is really just the cohesiveness of the whole ecosystem with other Ubiquiti stuff, instead of being in two diff ecosystems.

Another thing I've noticed is PPSK with VLAN is really REALLY shotty, some devices works fine but some don't, they would connect to eg. Secure VLAN and get an IP address just fine but internet just wouldnt work, how much of it is just me being dumb with my setup or really just early adopter shit (Pro Max 24 PoE with U7 Pro) idk, but that is the main annoying thing and my fam has been pestering me over it as I want to segregate devices on my network rclxub.gif , and their devices sometimes just freaks out and doesnt work

Otherwise I really like it so far, but not the heat but cant avoid that really sweat.gif

no wonder then. yes they do ship to singapore i saw that. no luck here  sweat.gif

i saw mention that some devices will have issue connecting to the u7 pro. so some commenters mentioned setting up the different wifi (using the same ssid?) so that the device will be able to connect. I think the issue was, for compatibility, some devices wouldn't be able to connect to wpa3, so you need one for wpa2? or some such.

Well in all likelihood, your fam or guests may not have as sanitized devices as you do. so you may want to segregrate them by setting up a guest wifi vlan so they can connect to that for internet to keep them isolated away from your trusted private network.

With something like tplink deco mesh, setting up a guest network vlan is easy, but with youtube shouldn't be hard for ubiquiti unifi, just extra steps xd.

yes you are correct. this particular u7 pro, they added a fan for it due to heat. the previous wifi6 and wifi 5 aps did not have a fan.

someone posted a teardown

*
I already do have a fallback SSID without management if the one with PPSK fails. And PPSK inherently doesn't work with WPA3 so I just have default WPA2 on the SSID with PPSK.

And that's my intent, I don't want any random device just gaining access to my main network by doing a bruteforce attack on my WiFi lol.

Speaking is easy but there's no indication on what the issue with since it works but sometimes it don't, which is the frustrating part. I have 5 VLANs for stuff and some devices work and some don't rclxub.gif

No local distributor that I know distribute Unifi servers officially, I can help you buy from SG and ship out to you but extra charges applies, RM700 converted before shipping and other charges, DM if you're interested, might only be collectable from next week onwards as it's already weekends

Looks like UXG Max, UXG Pro, CK Enterprise, UC Display and all the big Unifi items are starting to appear in SG market drool.gif

Including Unifi access and rack products brows.gif

Pricelist
Don't recommend buying from this as they have higher prices when compared and it's before counting GST, but their stock are generally more complete and ready, use this as reference for products available in SG market

Carousell SG Seller
Recommend buying from this guy as they have cheaper prices and there's no GST so the prices you see is what you get, but due to that reason their stock are quickly ran out, so if it's in stock, I suggest acting fast to snatch up whatever you want tongue.gif
