No need rush to buy your dream car, set it as a goal.

If really need a car then get a car that's easy on maintain and do more saving for investment.
For sure you will able to get better car in the future.

Yeah, if salary isn't high today.. It'll be higher in the future, then can buy without worrying so much about monthly installments or maintenance costs. Only in-demand and well maintained classic cars appreciate in value.. Every other car loses money the minute you drive it off the sales lot.. For instance, I hope to buy a Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo in the future.. Can buy today? Yes, but means end up living on the street and eating Maggie noodles..  laugh.gif
Exactly..

I've gotten the catalogue from a Mazda dealer today haven't test driven the new GVC yet. Can anyone confirm that the car has lane keep assist where the steering steers automatically to keep the car in the lane?

I know there was LDW before where it only warns but having the steering assist seems to be something new.

Edit: apologies for the sideways photo

Believe it only nudges rather than actually keeping it in the lane automatically. This is what the SA told me during the last carnival

60k is the previous gen mazda 3, you can find it here http://www.mazdaanshin.com.my for the preowned mazda

you can opt for mazda 2, which is a cheaper alternative yet still good to drive around town, it is more fuel saving compare to mazda 3, and mazda 3 is more fuel saving compare to civic and saga

I did sent this to mazda customer service and asked, their answer is yes, it does come with lane keep assist above 60km/h, means it will assist to steer if you are going to depart from your lane.

the thing is this feature is not mentioned in the price list package and anywhere else, so it is still a question mark, let me test drive and update here or anyone else tested it then please enlighten us.

The brochure didn't say it would steer, it mentioned nudges and audio alert.

brochure written "A forward sensing camera detects lane markings and assists the steering to keep you in lane. The system also alerts you when it judges an unintended lane departure is imminent by vibrating the steering wheel or with an audible alarm. The system operates at speeds above approximately 60km/h.

Is this 'Lane Departure Warning' and 'Lane Keeping Assist' really important? If you don't intend to fall asleep at the wheel why do you need them?

Personally I think it's just passive system helping out

A good and alert driver would probably never trigger the warning.

I personally think it is very useful. I've had a loan car from my friend who has the Ford Ranger Wildtrak which comes with Active Cruise Control and Lane Assist, I've tested the functions quite deliberately going off the lane and the steering steers back into the lane. It's really a beautiful system to use on highways. Roads on modern countries raised
reflective lane markers which lane assist isn't needed, however in Malaysia don't spend money on these life saving things.

Both are very important especially on long drives. With tiredness and momentarily lapse in concentration the car can help steer back into lane can help prevent accidents, it happens even to the best of us. No one intends to fall asleep behind the wheel, but if it does happen this will help.

yes, basically with lane keep assist and active cruise control, it is already 'semi autonomous' to me.
the car able to keep in the lane and keep a distance from the car in front, very useful and helpful for long distance highway drive.

mazda now has extended the warranty to 5 years (correct me if i am wrong) without paying single sen to the SC, drive in and out that is all. cool2.gif
what you need to take in to account are insurance+road tax and also wear and tear.
ensure you add in all for monthly payment icon_rolleyes.gif

you mean i-active sense? i-stop just a feature that temporary stop the engine when the car was idling, this is for fuel saver. now even bezza equipped with such feature brows.gif

Sounds like haven't had to drive consistently with such features.. Let me ask.. Do you require airbags or even an airbag? Cuz a good and alert driver would never trigger their deployment. doh.gif

ACC, LDW & LKA are "active" systems and the idea is that they assist and not drive the car entirely.. Guess what, I've never been in an accident where my airbags deployed, however, I have been in slight bumper to bumper action and had to repair/repaint. Active safety systems such as the above and or the likes of SCBS and SBS will assist in preventing those rare times where someone accidentally or purposely breaks hard in front of you. Alternatively, say you have to apply the brakes in an emergency and the car behind you gets stopped by these systems cuz the car reacts faster than the driver of the vehicle. Thereby saving both car drivers some headache.. That's why they are important. smile.gif
