QUOTE(chairmanmeow @ Apr 1 2007, 02:13 PM) Maclaren must be very worried about the cars behind them...needing 4 wing mirrors [attachmentid=211965] already posted about it. They are testing the mirrors that will give drivers the best view for rear tyre wear. The default mirrors are retained as benchmark. There are 6 configurations in all as they also need to find out the aero efficiency of doing this

QUOTE(Raikkonen @ Apr 1 2007, 09:00 PM) hehe... which team do you support? i've been a team schumacher supporter since benetton days. and also been a life long ron "i'm a sore looser" dennis hater. Added on April 1, 2007, 10:16 pmQUOTE(linkinstreet @ Apr 1 2007, 05:32 PM) Hey dude, I'm just explaining. You can make fun all you want. hmm... about your 'explanaition'. i have a different opinion. the need to check the condition of rear tires has diminished since tyre change was reintroduced last year. In any case only schumacher ever bothered to do that in 2005, and that was using a raised mirror. my guess is that hamilton is simply testing the rear visibility. as not all drivers like the new arrangement, judging by one of the red bull cars reverting to the more traditional arrangement during the test. That was what the official release said, It was just repeating it. Yes, I admit Ron might seems like a sore loser, but then again, he has a company to take care, and unlike some other teams that can just take cash from their coffers, he has his investors to keep happy. Wonder how many sponsors Ron would have today if he had been wimpy and took all teh FIA said with no questions whatsoever. In this term, only he and Sir Frank is the best in this business. What sir frank did by making AT&T the title sponsors but keeping the liveries just to the front wings was genius, making way for Lenovo to pay more to get the sidepods.

Webbo says no to Singapore GP QUOTE Red Bull Racing's star driver Mark Webber believes that Formula 1 should keep its "backbone" in Europe.
The Australian drove a Porsche road car around Singapore's proposed F1 track on Saturday. The Asian country may host a F1 event as soon as next season while a traditional races like the French GP are coming under increasing pressure.
The 30-year-old says that he is not averse to the sport expanding into new markets, but warned that traditional venues such as France have an important role to play.
"My opinion is that we still need to keep the backbone of where the sport was born, which is over there (in Europe)," Webber told the Evening Echo.
He added: "We need to keep a lot of that (traditional) feeling for it although we also have to be absolutely open to fresh ideas."
With Imola and Hockenheim absent from the 2007 calendar, the former Williams driver hopes that these events might return in the future.
"I think we will see some venues pop out and the odd one will come back," he concluded.

dude, it's a street track. Unless the car gets narrower, it's hard to overtake as you can easily clip the barriers. It's not like permanent circuit where you have these massive run off areas

QUOTE(bysquashy @ Apr 2 2007, 11:27 AM) I've seen some great moves in Monacco and I love them Yeah, I have to admit its rare Well, Michael Schumacher and Juan Montoya is no longer in F1 The last thing we need is another street track. here's the simple question. If we we're to add another track into our calender, why not add one that is a proper race track instead of one that is not meant to be a race track and whats more, lower chances of overtaking? It's like taking the option with lower probability when we have an option of a higher success probability. That's totally silly to do that...

Hopefully, a street track can provide some interesting overtakings. Dont make one like the Beijing A1 GP street race. That's totally outrageous with extra bumpy surfaces, super slow speed and track width that fits for go-kart..

That's totally outrageous with extra bumpy surfaces, super slow speed and track width that fits for go-kart.. The thing is, there are no such track. When you say street track, you will have a - street b - Bumpy road c - guardrail that is close to the track d - no run off areas Who in the right mind want to overtake in such conditions? Unlike yesteryears, where the cars are slower and safety is second in nature, and also because they CAN slipstream, unlike today's car, they can overtake even on short straights. Nowadays, even long straights and low downforce of Monza can't guarantee us overtaking, let alone a street track
