Ferrari Marlboro 'owned' the whole car, hence teh prominent red
Expect the new renault to be orange instead of dark blue

And you think you can do better?

Hmm, BMW boss predicts a peacefull season ahead
QUOTE
BMW motorsport boss Mario Theissen is predicting a season of peace between the FIA and Formula One's car manufacturers.

Last November FIA president Max Mosley met with Grand Prix Manufacturers' Association chairman Burkhard Goeschel in Munich to talk about the on-going rift between the two parties as well as the future of the sport.

Following the meeting, the two revealed that the GPMA and the FIA had come to a "complete agreement" on the future of the sport in terms of regulations, reducing costs and the future technologies that will be used in Formula One.

"I expect certainly a quieter year," Theissen told Autosport, referring to the many arguments that took place last season between the FIA and the GPMA.

"I think we are on a very constructive path now, discussing the future of the sport.

"I see the chance, after all this meddling in the past, and that was not just 2006 it was in the past years too, to jointly create something that is really beneficial to all the stakeholders in the sport."

Given the right tools and knowledge of the rules, probably yes.  tongue.gif
They are probably are working more on the mechanical stuff. It's just that they are making a weird step into aerodynamics, like the sidepods for example. It's more squarish, they went a step backwards.

But now 1 thing intrigued me, the curvy A-arms.  biggrin.gif  But the whole car is not that sleek looking. Sorry if i offended anyone.  notworthy.gif

Considering that they have one of the best wind tunnel in F1, it's blaphmeous to say that they can make a step backward on designing the car. I mean, it makes a better aero efficiency for all we know, but we don't have that knowledge.

shit up the redline? It's not that simple. Keep pushing the redline all the time, you'll half the engine life for real. that's why drivers have different rev settings to use during different phase of the race to protect the engine. Senna, Schumacher, Prost, are the ones that can guess specifically and correctly when to use which rev during racing. Racing is not easy as many of you here think. Get in the car, drive flat out, win. It's more complicated than that now that the FIA want's the engine to last more. (Stupid move IMO, driver will less likely to push).

Hmm yeah I agree with you on that one.  smile.gif
But still I put the blame "mostly" on the engineers for not making a reliable engine. I don't think drivers would want to hear, "go easy on the engine okay?".  laugh.gif
From what I know, they put a rev limiter so there is no need for the drivers to estimate when to use which rev in a race. The engineers and drivers work together to estimate where it is best to put the rev limiter. So the drivers won't get to the redline anyway. Correct me if I'm wrong please.  notworthy.gif

And here I think Kimi will have a problem since he is not into the technical stuff.  sweat.gif

@Jackygwh:
Which seasn was that? If it was last season or season before, it wasn't engine it was hydraulics(transmission).
*
Only one team used the REV limiter last season, and that was the V10 Ford of Tollo Losso. It was rev limited so that it can emulate the V8. Remember that because of the restrictor, it was THE MOST RELIABLE ENGINE last season. Putting a REV limiter on the V8 will be a retard move, as it will limit the already limited power of that engine. The Schummi blow up in Japan will always be Schummi's fault, I don't blame his engineer.

This season they have a Ferrari engine while the Red Bull uses Renault. Or it's the other way around.
Anyways, tunertube, I never heard or seen a rev limited F1 engine before, just the V10 of Torro Rosso last season. It's make no sense at all, and remember, more revs = more power. Which is why last season all the engine suppliers raced to reach the 20K RPM mark where it was first reached by COSWORTH for the Williams, and broken at the Brazillian race with the custom made Schumacher 22K special engine which incidently, the only V8 car in history that have used the engine (Massa only got the 19.5K RPM engine that day, which made Schummi's last race seems odinary by his standard) because of rule changes.

Kimi to debut this Tuesday

QUOTE
Kimi Raikkonen will test a Ferrari F1 car for the first time at the Vallelunga circuit on Tuesday.

The Finn, who joined Ferrari at the start of the year, has yet to get behind the wheel of one of the Scuderia's F1 car even though his team-mate Felipe Massa has already tested the latest F2007.

Raikkonen, though, will have his first opportunity to experience Ferrari power at the Vallelunga circuit near Rome on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old will, however, be driving last year's 248F1 for the three-day test, while Massa continues working with the team's 2007 car, the F2007.

A Ferrari mechanic revealed that this was to make sure that the new F2007 will not have any mishap on it's testing run, unlike the ones that plauged the debut testing of the 2007 McLaren and the 2007 Renault

'Kimi will surely gun the car straight from the pit, and we are not ready for all the PR if he blew the engine during his first test.' he revealed

F1 teams do it all the time, like I said, to improve reliability. Yes higher revs will make more power but reliability decreases. For some races they do put rev limiter to their engines. Some teams may lower their revs when they see fit, such as when other teams are having engine failures as well.

Found this article, by 1st of March F1 engines will be limited to 19,000rpm. Is this true?
http://www.planet-f1.com/News/Story_Page/0...1843374,00.html
have a read under the section, "V8 reloaded".

If this was MOTO GP, yes, the power from the engine is limited by the engineer (if not, you'll see them flying off the track). But for F1, there is never enough power, and it's up to the driver to make the decision on what revs to use. There is a dial on the steering wheel for this. this is called 'Short Shifting', meaning shifting the gear earlier than the intended redline. Driver's do this when not under pressure or during the closing laps of the race. It saves fuel and engine, but like I said, engineers will have nothing to do with it.
And that's why I said that the Schumacher Ferrari last season will be the last car that have the 22KRPM engine.

They won't want to share space with Marlboro as Marboro has bought all the cars sponsor space, and they ended up paying more than the space actually worth. So they defect to McLaren

I feel that is not the official livery yet. Seems missing a few sponsors. I remember they use the same colour during this stage last season too

Former F1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya won the famous Daytona 24 Hours sportscar race on Sunday, earning himself a place in history.

Driving for Chip Ganassi's team in the race held Florida, Montoya shared the No. 01 Chip Ganassi Racing Lexus Riley car with Scott Pruett and Salvador Duran.

The trio completed a massive 688 laps between them in the 24 hours to take the victory ahead of the No. 11 car of Ryan Dalziel, Patrick Carpentier, Darren Manning and Milka Duno.

The victory saw Montoya become only the second man after Mario Andretti to win the Indianapolis 500, a Formula One grand prix and the Daytona 24 Hours.

"It's a big deal for me," Montoya said. "The boys worked so hard for this.

"Me, Salvador and Scott all worked hard and we kept the car on the road at all times and that was the key to victory.

"We made no mistakes and were fast when we had to be."
