One thing is for sure...those teams who complained surely having a problem.
I mean their car(s) are not competitive.

Else, they have nothing to complained.

If all those complains went to the drain...what then?

With all these complains, Ferrari knows they're unbeatable at the moment.

Oh ya, we forgot the TYRES .

Remember how good the Ferrari's with the Bridgestones?
Maybe that's why they were able to fly in Melbourne.
Not just the moving here and moving there part.

QUOTE(Hornet @ Mar 22 2007, 01:34 PM)
Ron was the one brought up the mass damper issue as well
*
Actually, that was misleading. After the banning of the mass damper, Briatore stated that other teams tried them and cannot emulate how renault used their mass damper, and he says that McLaren and Ferrari are the ones that told the FIA of the mass damper. But after the season had finished, he retracted that earlier statement, saying that McLaren had nothing to do with the banning, and only Ferrari was involved.

now u see, in F1 there's always a grey area. wings are allow to flex a certain amount, and of course so does renault mass damper which, wheter is a moving aero part is NOT well defined. Well, so question here is that why Ron have to complain then?
of course aero part like front, rear, side wing and difuser gonna flex anyhow, but like u said only in certain amount...but when u can see it flex even with your bare eye, sure it already above grey area....

why complain?
because it unsure..."was was" ...question here is,if renault mass damper is banned how about ferrari and bmw moving floor...if FIA wanna play fair, BANNED it also laa sweat.gif

Movable parts is not contributing to car development...
Besides McLaren are one of the most innovative teams when it comes to development.
And to prove that here's an article from Autosport i found from a forum. It's a feature by Mark Hughes

QUOTE
In 1997 Mercedes started development work on an engine that utilised rotary valves instead of conventional poppet valves. Benefits of this type of engine were primarily that it would be lighter and lower, reducing overall weight of the car and lowering the centre of gravity - two great benefits. Development continued, ironing out problems that arose and increasing its capabilities. Add this to the potential for more power than a conventional valved engine, and it looks like Merc were onto a winner. That is, until in late 2004, when the FIA created a new law stipulating all engine had to have the "poppet" valves that the engine had been designed to make redundant. 1997 - 2004. 7 years development (not to mention that talented people were put into the project) and funding up in smoke with the writing of one law.

Similar stories are elsewhere - Beryllium was banned from use in engines. Guess who used it the most in their engines - Merc. McLaren again spent a lot of time and money on energy recovery systems, and torque sensing differentials (haven't a clue what they are, but they sure sound important), both of which are banned before they are used but after the are developed. There goes that money and time again.
And some info i have read also points out that rotary valves were banned by the FIA after pressure from Ferrari who couldn't make them work and beryllium was banned on health and safety grounds as its highly carcinogenic yet to this day, not one single person has been harmed in any way, shape or form in F1 from beryllium use or manufacturing. Carbon fiber on the other hand has been a long documented hazzard and there are several drivers that are having major lung problems now from carbon fibre dust embedded in their lungs. Mika Salo, Jean Alesi, Damon Hill, Olivier Panis and Mika Hakinnen are but a few that have had to undergo treatment for it. Yet the FIA does nothing about carbon fiber. And guess what Ferrari couldn't make Beryllium work. They had major problems and only obtained minimal success after 3 years of research. It was promptly banned after that tongue.gif

ferrari was indeed told to change their wings along with few other teams... and in the end, all teams are told to put a small stuff between the rear wing elements.

so yeah, we can say its fair last season... but this clearly has to stop. each time if someone complains and then the FIA move to ban it, then this shows something wrong is going on because FIA always check all cars and make sure they are legal, they dont need others to tell them what to do.

I personally disagree with complains lodge by a team against others, even if its Ferrari. I don't want my supported team to try and put others in a disadvantage by complaining about their car, it doesn't make a team look good that way.

For me, complains are/will/and have been an integral part of F1. Just don't overdo it.

Added on March 22, 2007, 6:28 pmSomehow this testing will not be usefull for renault if it stays wet like this

Oh murray, how I miss thee

QUOTE(Murray Walker)
"Do my eyes deceive me, or is Senna's Lotus sounding rough ?"

"Alboreto has dropped back up to fifth place"

"I can't imagine what kind of problem Senna has. I imagine it must be some sort of grip problem"

"He is shedding buckets of adrenalin in that car"

"So Bernie [Ecclestone], in the seventeen years since you bought McLaren, which of your many achievements do you think was the most memorable ?" Bernie Answers, "Well I don't remember buying McLaren." [Bernie Ecclestone used to own the Brabham team].

Murray: "What's that? There's a BODY on the track!!!"
James: "Um, I think that that is a piece of BODY-WORK, from someone's car."

"I don't want to tempt fate but Damon Hill is now only half a lap from his first Grand Prix win and..and HE'S SLOWING DOWN, DAMON HILL IS SLOWING DOWN..HE'S..HE'S STOPPED."

"...Cruel luck for Alesi, second on the grid. That's the first time he had started from the front row in a Grand Prix, having done so in Canada earlier this year..."

"And there's the man in the green flag!"

Murray: And look at the flames coming from the back of Berger's McLaren
James: Actually, Murray, they're not flames, it's the safety light.

"...and there's no damage to the car.....except to the car itself."

"This is an interesting circuit because it has inclines, and not just up, but down as well."

"Only a few more laps to go and then the action will begin, unless this is the action, which it is."

"Tambay's hopes , which were nil before, are absolutely zero now."

"You can't see a digital clock because there isn't one."

"The Italian GP at Monaco..."

"...the enthusiastic enthusiasts..."

"As you can see, visually, with your eyes..."

"Andrea de Cesaris...the man who has won more Grands Prix than anyone else without actually winning one of them."

"And we have had 5 races so far this year, Brazil, Argentina, Imola, Schumacher and Monaco!"

"And Damon Hill is coming into the pit lane, yes it's Damon Hill coming into the Williams pit, and Damon Hill in the pit, no it's Michael Schumacher! "

"Mansell is slowing it down, taking it easy. Oh no he isn't! It's a lap record."

"Into lap 53, the penultimate last lap but one"

"There are a lot of IFs in Formula One, in fact IF is Formula One backwards!"

"And that just shows you how important the car is in Formula One Racing."

"A battle is developing between them. I say developing, because it's not yet on."

"A sad ending, albeit a happy one."

"And Edson Arantes di Nascimento, commonly known to us as Pele, hands the award to Damon Hill, commonly known to us as Damon Hill."

"And Michael Schumacher is actually in a very good position. He is in last place."

"And now, excuse me while I interrupt myself."

"And there's no damage to the car - except to the car itself."

"Are they on a one-stopper? Are they on a two? And when I say they, who do I mean? Well, I don't know. It could be anybody."

"Either the car is stationary, or it's on the move."

"Even in five years time, he will still be four years younger than Damon Hill."

"Fantastic! There are four different cars filling the first four places."

"He can't decide whether to leave his visor half open or half closed. "

"I don't know what happened, but there was a major malmisorganization problem there."

"I should imagine that the conditions in the cockpit are totally unimaginable."

"I've no idea what Eddie Irvine's orders are, but he's following them superlatively well."

"If the gloves weren't off before, and they were, they sure are now!"

"In twelfth and thirteenth, the two Jaguars of Eddie Irvine."

"It looks as though this year there will be seventeen Grands Prix for the World Championship, compared with the traditional seventeen."

"Now he must not go the wrong way round the circuit, and unless he can spin himself stationary through 360 degrees I fail to see how he can avoid doing so."

"Prost can see Mansell in his earphones."

"So this being Michael Schumacher's 10th race in his 151st year in F1."

"That's history. I say history because it happened in the past."

"The boot's on the other Schumacher now!"

"The lead car is unique, except for the one behind it which is identical."

"There are seven winners of the Monaco Grand Prix on the starting line today, and four of them are Michael Schumacher."

"There's nothing wrong with the car except that it's on fire."

"This will be Williams' first win since the last time a Williams won."

"Well, now we have exactly the same situation as at the beginning of the race, only exactly opposite."

"You can cut the tension with a cricket stump."

"You might not think that's cricket, and it's not, it's motor racing."
